Happy May Day ! 05/01/17
Hello Friends !!
Was away in the finger lake region for the weekend, visiting Chuck and his new house. We have been communicating and slowly reestablishing our relationship. He firmly believes I was anorexic and about to drop dead a year ago, at 120 pounds. He says he was terrified of losing me, and having everyone think it was his fault if died because he "let it happen". I have lots of thinking to do !
Sadie and I had an interview at the VA hospital. The coordinator brought us to several floors to meet patients from dementia to recently returned with traumatic injuries. We rode elevators, navigated locked wards, and encountered a service dog.... well placed tests... make no mistake . Sadie was fabulous ! I couldn't have been prouder ! We progressed to finger printing and a federal background check.
My grass grew while we were gone ! I'll do a quick poop recovery mission before I mow, as storms are coming. I have to run to work today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, to conduct hearings for poor adolescent choices. (Shel..sorry to hear about your local experience.)
Tried to catch up with messages! Welcome Bramble ! Perfect name ! We all know she's home. Loved V installment "..with BED quieted..I'm forging a new relationship with food ...able to sense what was there all along." Truth.
Paula... I would also like to see the entire dress, if DS#2 okays! Stunning redhead! Hope recovery from PS tweak smooth out. Liz..glad transfer of MIL finances from DH to BIL and locating a support group have been accomplished. Ann, Carbon, Dave your yard work and walking are very motivating ! Diane.. being landlocked in northern CA might actually be an okay thing, with increased sun! Joey... nice job navigating the hijackers and finding a "take away" from group.
Forgot to mention... came home yesterday one pound below top of range. Today, one pound over. Will eat on plan again today, and see where things shake out tomorrow.

Good morning! Great job with Sadie. It sounds like the two of you will be spreading much needed comfort!
I am working from home today and tomorrow morning, then traveling to Chicago for 2 days of intensive meetings (oldest DD is staying with her Dad). Someday I wish I could spend some leisure time there but that won't happen this trip (meetings from 8 am-6 pm both days).
Friday is the in-person pre-screen for the clinical trial (which reminds me that I have to call neurologist again - we haven't received their notes yet though I called them almost 2 weeks ago). I hate having to chase for things. That's almost worse than dealing with the afflicted person and their illness.
SO, does Bramble having a name mean she might be staying?????
Paula, I just saw the prom pics on FB! Beautiful (All of them)! Where did DS learn how to do makeup like that - wow! The setting for the pictures with the water was wonderful as well.
Weight 114.5 OTHD, calories 800. The spice on the blackened scallops yesterday was a bit much and cleaned me out...
Happy May Day!

Weekend was good. DS#2 had a great time at Prom. I got very little sleep and the house looks awful. Will have a full day of cleaning, laundry, etc. tomorrow on my day "off"
Here is DS#2 in all his glory - he really did look great! I apologize in advance for the size of the pic. Not sure why they show up so big on OH. For those of you on FB, I have a whole album!
Stunning pic! You looked great as well, btw, loved the yellow. His date is a cutie, too -- such sparkle and fun with a full voltage smile. (Gosh I love kiddos!) Thanks so much for sharing.

The young people (hubby's grandson and his new husband, whom we'd never met before) left this morning to return to university. And, yes, there was much flying food and flying alcohol around here. It was a great time together!
My eating and drinking could have been so much worse than it was. And it could have been a little bit better. But the good part is that hubby and I are home alone again -- our favorite situation.
However, the big news is that, yes, there was adventure! Our little town was rocked by unprecedented, worst-ever-in-history floods. Our home is safe -- we're high and dry and never even lost power, although we did lose land line and Wifi internet service. But we fared so much better than many friends and neighbors did.
In town, the floodwaters have receded, but there are big messes along the main drags, at the local university, and in residential neighborhoods. Over the weekend car dealerships were underwater with cars floating in the streets, railroad tracks eroded, many bridges were damaged, destroyed or just plain missing, and some US highways (not to mention state and county roads) are still closed due to roadway and bridge damage and significant flooding. Outlying villages built along waterways are in a bad way, and some will never come back.
As I sit here counting calories this morning, these events put into perspective the question, "What's most difficult about your life?"
