First, thanks for your kind, thoughtful and helpful responses about binging recovery. You really helped, and I feel even more stable this morning.
Unfortunately, I didn't sleep well again last night and got only 2 hours of sleep. But Devon's comment made late yesterday (which I read after midnight) included this bit -- "Understanding the drivers behind a binge and learning to recognize them before the binge occurs has helped me stop the weight gain cycle." It felt like an inoculation. Despite my insomnia, I didn't eat a single bite during the night.
Big day today -- yoga class with a yoga tea afterward at a class member's home. I was one those chosen to bring brunch food, and since I lack the party chef gene I'm taking muffins from Walmart Bakery. This weekend we have family visitors arriving so the next few days will be full of food shopping and house cleaning.
Finally, the spring storms here are nuts! Yesterday morning portions of our deck received a foot of hail. That's right -- 12 INCHES! Also, our roofs, walls and windows were plastered with leaves shredded by the straight-line 60 mph winds and hail. The weekend forecast promises another 5 inches of rain. Looks like we'll be playing a lot of canasta. ;)
Onward! Persevere!

No weight today, DH in the way. I restarted a bit of my home functional fitness last night. Yoga'd as usual.
Not sure that I ate much more than usual at dinner but BIG restriction kept me away from the cupboards for the rest of the night. No wonder it was easier to avoid night-time grazing during WL phase. Restriction is always best if I haven't been grazing and my proteins are dense. (Why do I have to continually re-discover this?)
Ann....crazy storms! Stay safe. Good job breaking your night-time habit of insomnia eating. I learn so much from the people on this board, heavens knows I need as many inoculations as possible. I hope you get some sleep, soon!
Devon, can't we keep the Piglet, please? PLEEEEASE??? She is one of our tribe.
Strength and Stamina,
Shel

Oh my goodness, weight up even more and I don't even think I am swollen. I think the 2 pounds I thought I should have gained from the weekend turned into 3 after the fact! I'm feeling very ostrich like and wanting a sand pile to stick my head into!
Home today. I don't think I will exercise though as I am still healing. Maybe some laundry and house cleaning.
Paula
Am I ostrich-enabling if I say that I bet the healing process is making you hang on to water? Either way, the fix is to stick with foods you know work for you. Best wishes!
Shel

I agree with Shel that it is probably the healing process...

Copying this from the other Thursday post...
Weight 115, calories 1021.
So tired after the 3 long work days, but I feel good about my schedule once I get to Thursdays! It is so busy right now that I could work way longer hours, but I'm keeping to the schedule. At least I don't get bored (I would hate that).
DH and I meet with one of the coordinators for the Alzheimer's Support organization on Cape Cod this morning. Hopefully he will connect us to some appropriate support groups. I was poking around on the internet the other day and saw that there are some online games for memory - I tried one out, and it was the Memory game we used to play with the kids when they were small (turn over 2 cards and if a match you take them out, otherwise turn them back over)! One of the people I work with had a good idea on housekeeping chores. DH doesn't do well because he only spot cleans (doesn't remember what he already did). Also he tries to do EVERYTHING at once (can't break it down into manageable chunks). She suggested putting all the tasks to clean each room (or other group of tasks) on one index card. Then give him one card each day. He could follow each task, but will stop when done.
Have a great day (going to go read the posts from the last few days now)!

208. I had to leave work early yesterday because the neighbor (anonymous but I know who it was) called the cops about my dogs being left outside barking.
My daughter, SIL and grandsons stopped to visit with my son while I was at work. The neighbor saw my daughter leave and thought the dogs were left out. My son was home, but because he does not drive, there was no car in the driveway. The cop threatened my son with a noise violation because the dogs were barking. He actually talked to the cop and said they were only barking because he pulled up... He explained that the neighbors have been harassing us for years and maybe thought nobody was home when my daughter left, but the cop was tough with him about not letting the dogs bark at any time of day. He brought the dogs in from their yard where they have water, a house, toys and each other to play with. My son was a wreck so I had to leave early. This is the same neighbor that called animal control thinking my dogs were neglected while I was taking care of my parents and sleeping on their couch the months before they died, even after I discussed it and assured them the dogs were more than fine. They also called when they thought I had no air conditioning FOR THE DOGS. No worries about me and my son not having air conditioning. I had to bring animal control officers into my house again to prove that my dogs were fine AND that I had air conditioning. My life should be as awesome as my dogs' lives!
On top of all of this, my ex-husband is making me go back to court to continue child support due to a change in the laws for maintenance of a child over the age of 23 in NJ. I submitted the paperwork to the court yesterday with copies to him. So I have that to look forward to...
However, my daughter is doing better. Knock wood and praise God! The rest we can handle.
I have not turned to food. My jaw feels better today. My psych says it's not from the medication, so I am following the online suggestions of soft foods and relaxation (hah).
I am so grateful for my dog tolerant neighbors and that my sound sensitive drunkard of a neighbor loves dogs and is flattered that I make nice nice to him so he doesn't call the cops on me like he does the other neighbors. More flies with honey....
So sorry you have ****ty neighbors. They are probably bleeding heart AR people. Booooo! (Ron is funny about AC with our dogs, too. "We need to leave the air on for the dogs!" Um, not when it's 85 out! I don't understand...)
Greetings Maintenance Maniacs
Well we are not maniacs (just sounded funny) but we are on a mission.
Back to 134 today which is ok. One more dinner of pot roast tonight and then the dogs get the rest.
Dogs -jeez Joey, can't your neighbors cut you some slack? Sounds like looneys to me. Glad your daughter is doing better.
A foot of hail!! I remember those days from the midwest. One time our street literally looked like a glacier. It was July and there was still hail on the ground the next morning. Well enjoy canasta. Don't float away!
Ostrich behavior sounds appealing but probably not very effective. Still, sand has no calories and if head is in sand, can't eat.
Art Studio board meeting today. One member belongs to some kind of heritage bean club so we always end up having beans and salad. She also has a farm share and so in the summer its beets and more beets.
Well take care all. Nothing very exciting going on here. Sometimes dull is good. Diane S
