VSG Maintenance Group
Easter, April 16
Weight 116, calories 835. Yesterday, I compensated for my big eating day Friday and interestingly I wasn't really very hungry anyway. Maybe before WLS, I didn't use true hunger cues so I just ate all the time? I've noticed something lately: SIL who has always been slim (like DH), eats naturally like I do now. She might eat the hamburger bun, but only eats 1/2 burger. If there are fries or onion rings, she eats a couple then stops. She skips meals when not hungry. Though I don't do that because I'm afraid of later hunger, but I will eat a small snack instead.
I hope you all have a great day. If you celebrate Easter, enjoy the time with family! DD is already texting me about how to cook the ham and what tablecloth to bring so have to switch over...

Good Morning All ! Enjoy this glorious day with your families and loved ones. Find five things to be grateful for. I am grateful for: my daughters, family and sweet Sadie; the return of the sun; resolution of edema and my weight back in my target range; healthy food in my refrigerator; and this group !!
I want to see a picture of Diane and Devon together! How exciting ! I have to believe your descriptions of one another are much closer to reality than the way you portray yourselves. We do have to practice self-care and being gentle with ourselves !
BB... focus on the shifts you have made in your goals, focus, and perspective. That is success ! Positive thoughts, especially for those dealing with family and health challenges.

Happy Easter all!
I tried to stay away from scale but could not. 157.8. At least it wasn't up. Thank you Shel and Diane Ocean for your sweet words. I just have to stay rational--I know I'm doing good things. It's just so frustrating to know what all you've given up and feel like your body isn't reciprocating!! My husband suggested maybe we shift our focus from weight loss to muscle gain/composition changes. I'm nearly 5'8 and at 15(I'm gonna go with 5--I refuse to believe I'm almost 158 again) I feel like I'm close to a good weight--at least within 10lbs, but it's my composition and lack of strength that I don't like. Interestingly, I can do about as much weight in my legs as my husband. I squatted 100lbs. on my last set of the squat machine. I wonder if it's from years of carrying around 277lbs.!!
I was really not wanting to workout yesterday. We tried to complete a new workout on Thursday and it just went really poorly. And we skipped Friday's workout to be with DSD. Insult to injury I was feeling so bad about my body. But we went and put in a good legs workout and darned if I didn't feel better about my body. I took a bit of a mental break from being so critical about calories yesterday and will probably do the same today. That said, I think it would be hard to gain weight from crawfish--too much work for so little meat!!
Oh for all you dog lovers out there, I'd recommend the movie Hachi. I jus****ched it and it was so good.
The best part of your post was the dog movie recommendation!
I agree with your husband about the change in thinking for a variety of reasons.
Strategizing about body fitness can distract my brain from its over-attention to food.
From a pure vanity standpoint, a fit/strong body looks a lot better in (and out!) of clothes than an un-fit body at a same weight. Ditto clothing sizes. And I flat out FEEL better.
I need accountability of weighing (most) days. But, those numbers moving around bother me less when I am physically active.

wt 216 Eating went well except for some cookies didn't track from lunch on because of unknowns. I could have guessed.
Family get together went well yesterday. Lots of talking. Laughing. Dog petting. SIL worked a bit on a generator because I don't usually work on mechanical stuff and he enjoys it. And of course eating. The kids took most of the left overs home with them.
The shop has a day of rest or two. But it is coming along.
Today we are to go to lunch with DS#1 and DDIL#1 to her parents easter spread. Hope my quiet time now lasts long enough to go through a big social setting. Meds will be taken.
Seek Peace and do good, David

Happy Easter!

Yoga yesterday literally kicked my butt. Yesterday's sub yoga teacher was all yoga-ish in her introductory talk of spring being the time to work the gallbladder and liver meridians. Then she put it into physical action --- wowza, I will have to spend more time on those meridians!
Should be a lovely day here. I'm looking forward to family, sun and outdoors.
Shel
