Work today for 1/2 a day. Costco run after work and then start some of the Easter preparations. I think we will do the meal on Saturday instead and go to our fav Mexican place on Sunday after church.

Co-workers pooled together to gift us with a family photo session. Isn't that the sweetest. We really do have good support. I think I am going to have to do an intervention on DH though. He is working too much, not resting enough. Now is not the time for that!

Fab Friday Friends!

Good Morning. Nice gift from your co-workers!

Weight 116.5, calories 1390. Went for $5 burger night with DH and SIL (DH didn't want leftovers). I more or less started my new work schedule this week - I knocked off at 2 yesterday and went with DH for errands and a walk at Quisset Harbor (the knob):

Today I'm done by 10:30, so I can make calls, then take DH out. I need to find a good place to go today.

DD is hosting Easter Dinner (first time hosting for a holiday), so there have been lots of calls on what to buy at the food store and how to cook it - we are bringing lots of things like folding chairs, tablecloths, etc. I'm proud of her!

Paula-yay on the half day and getting some of Easter knocked out.

Liz-glad to hear the new schedule is working out. I think it's wonderful your DD has started hosting. Imho holidays, traditions of any kind are so important. And I think when you start hosting yourself, you realize just how much work and love your parents showed by keeping up with it for you. At least I have. And as an adult I'm so appreciative that I have those memories of cousins, grandparents, food. Okay, I'm getting nostalgic now. But it's so easy to forego the recipes written on stained cards in your great grandmother's handwriting. Or leave off your grandmother's china because it isn't dishwasher safe. So I love to hear "tablecloth"! Far too rare these days.

Carbon-it rained and rained here yesterday as well

Afm. Maybe I should take a break from the scale. From my diet? Sometimes I cannot tell whether these are good ideas or my body trying to con me into regain. Today I was 157.8. I cannot understand it. That is up over 3 lbs. from a week ago!! Yesterday wasn't great foodwise in that it was a lot of carbs, but I still only ate 1232 calories--that should NOT result in gains like this!!! :( I did tan yesterday in preparation for Hawaii. And I tried a new arm workout that was rough (oh yeah, I burned 150-200 calories doing that). Maybe I'm holding on to water. But it's very distressing because my goals are coming up so quickly and I'm headed in the opposite direction. And this weekend of all weekends is the worst to "buckle down". We have a crawfish boil tomorrow and then of course Easter dinner on Sunday. I'm not saying I'll go "hog wild" but perhaps not being so rigid will actually prove helpful? like I said, I can never tell if these are truly good ideas, or just my fat winning

Fab Friday!

No weight the last couple of days cuz of compression wear. But eats and activity have been ok. My hand wrap unraveled like a mummy in so I think I will give myself a couple of freely typing like a mad woman before rewrapping.

Liz, lovely LOVELY picture. Will try to get to a coastline super soon. Nature awaits. Thanks for the reminder.

Paula, there is a comforting rhythm to a work schedule in particular if you like your job. Perhaps you can urge DH to draw some boundaries/set priorities for his work. I would focus on this just being a temporary adjustment as he moves thru this tough treatment period. His frame of mind might be that he has to do something during the long hours, and distraction is good. Does he have other ways to keep his brain busy as he rests? Just random thoughts.

Speaking of work, time to turn these fingers loose on my own work.

Oh! LOVED pics of Tesla and Diane!!!!! Tesla looked polished in both looks and demeanor. Is that what good grooming does? Perhaps it was her excellent upbringing and training.

Hug your health!

Shel

Good insight on DH's end of things regarding work. I'll have to keep those things in mind !

207. Could my problems be solved as easily as switching back to a Quest or Combat Crunch bar for breakfast instead of the cheaper Costco version that MyFitnessPal for the first time today warned me about being high in carbs. The stinking box says 4g followed by "NET"!!! Yet they are actually 22g??? Read your nutritional labels, folks! So so stupid! I read something online (I think on OH) raving about how good they were, being the same as Quest, for half the price, having only 4g, of carbs, etc., etc. (I sometimes have TWO in a day!) Time for a Mean Girls reference --

"Why are you eating a Kalteen bar?"

"I'm starving."

"Man, I hate those things. Coach Carr makes us eat those when we want to move up a weight class."

"What?"

"They make you gain weight like crazy."

"Mother...Aaaaaaaah!"

-Regina George and Shane Oman

Freaked myself out about the carbs/net carbs thing. It's all coming back to me now. Quest http://www.questnutrition.com/protein-bars/choc-chip-cookie- dough-box-of-12/?type=box&gclid=CJbUoqWxpNMCFRFWDQodNUMFbQ is apparently the same as the Kirkland Signature. https://www.costco.com/wcsstore/CostcoUSBCCatalogAssetStore/ Attachment/1076882+Nutritional-Facts.pdf I know it is better to eat real foods than protein bars, but my life is a bit hectic and they are convenient if I am not derailing myself.

Greetings Dear Ones

Well I got back from the dog shows last evening and then ran down to my art opening for a bit. Only stayed an hour as I was exhausted and every bone in my body hurt. Dog show trip was fun but physically very demanding since my travel cohort had three of her own dogs plus a palmation she was bringing to someone. The palmation was pregnant and unexpectedly delivered puppies at Motel Six this morning!!!!! Lordy the things that go on in cheap motels.

But the show was fun. Tesla didn't win anything except for the classes in which she was the only dog. I think the traveling conditions stressed her and she had the runs. Won't go into those details but it was wild. But she showed pretty well and was happy and wagging her tail in the show ring and I think she was deciding dog shows were fun. When we got home she went and got in our bed - a comfort.

As for food, I am up to 136.5 in spite of record numbers of steps on fitbit. The worst thing I ate was chicken nuggets from Burger King on the way out of town. Plus I ate cheese sticks rather than yucky dog show food so thats a lot of salt. Anyway I am hoping it drops off. We did have a good mexican dinner which I could only eat half of and seared ahi at a sushi place.

Met Devon. What a delightful person *****ally knows his dogs. AND HE DOES NOT LOOK FAT. He exaggerates. I thank him for posting pictures of me and my dog. The lady in the background was my travel companion. I am sorry I did not get pictures of him but I had locked my phone in the van. Hope to run into him again at dog shows. Picture of me tells me I need a makeover.

Well, hard to keep up with all thats going on. Paula maybe your DH could learn to meditate and calm his mind and concentrate on healing. If that became a part of his routine it gives a feeling of having a bit of control. Lots of good books from New Harbinger publications. Yeah its touchy feely but is calming. Find a project like reading the books on the 100 best novels of all time list. Thats something I want to do in my life. Glad you are feeling you have support

Joey, thinking of you. Wish I had something more comforting to say than cyber hugs.

Liz love the pic. Senior centers out here have lots of great stuff. Worth checking into.

Shel words of wisdom as always.

Dave you are one industrious guy. Here's to a peaceful life in the woods.

Well I can't seem to keep up with everyone but will now get back to normal life.

Soldier on Brave Ones. Diane S

What is a palmation? Tried to google but came up with something to do with elk racks. Don't think that is it. Some sort of dalmatian cross?

Hi, LOL, a palmation is a dalmation messed up by auto correct. Indeed the classic spotty dog. She had 7 pups at Motel 6. we were making up all these names for the pups that had to do with cheap motels! d
