VSG Maintenance Group
Wednesday April 5
Just gave the bad news. The person was very composed. I had to work hard to also keep control. I'm hiding in my office now until I feel like I can talk. I have to do a staff meeting this afternoon.

Forgot to weigh this morning. I know! Took my daughter back to the hospital last night. She has ketones but is not in DKA. The kids slept at my house and with their morning routine, I forgot my own.
Kudos to your son for going to the prom in drag. Times, they are a-changin. I got a dollar that he gets voted Prom Queen. This reminded me of my grandsons' reaction to a trans waitress who served us at a local pizza place a few months ago. They were so composed and behaved that I figured that they didn't even notice and were only focused on pizza. After driving for a little while, I asked if they noticed anything unusual about our waitress. The older one casually said, yes, she is a man. The younger said yeah. We talked about how nice and pretty she was and went about our day. Sometimes I do not weep for the future.
Weight up .2 from yesterday. I am looking at this .2 swing up and down as a solid indication that I have it in me to maintain a healthy weight once there. It is now a matter of making a decision to follow my WL plan, committing to it and following through. I listened to a live feed from Thomas DeLauer today in which he mentioned that actions speak louder than words. A good reminder that a healthy weight loss plan includes action, not passivity.
Today is vacation mode! I got up shortly before 7:00 to let pup and dogs out. Thought to myself, "I'm still sleepy," so I went back to bed about 7:15 and dozed until about 9:00. Ah, the good life! Honestly, I felt a little sheepish, but not enough that I'm still not dressed and it's close to 10:30!
I am groomed out! Tackled the 9th dog in 4 days yesterday. My elbow is sore and today is my "rest" day. I'm only going to work on Ace for dog show prep. I'm hoping I can get him done in about an hour and a half. (Well, this one stage anyway... Handstripping is an ongoing process that is never finished... cyclical - once you "finish" you start all over again. Takes a good 4-6 hours per week to keep an Airedale in show coat. Diane S. has it easy. Border Terriers take only about 45 minutes per week - if that!)
Haircut at noon. Was hoping to hit the gym at some point today, but not sure how that will play out.
Shel, last night I was in bed thinking what a gift this new medication is. It's as if a weight or dark cloud has vanished from my everyday life. I'm simply fascinated that I feel so much the same, but yet so much more "right". There is an internal ease that is utterly foreign. Better living through chemistry, indeed!
Happy Hump Day, all!
Sounds like you are having a good week -- sleep and all! It seems like you are on a good track. The timing of your upcoming psychiatrist appt seems just about right.

Ah yes, I remember my proms. I think I could fit in my dresses now too. They might still be in my mom's house of junk.
Well good for your son Paula on having the self confidence to do what he wishes to do and good on the school for being ok with it. I bet he has a great time and everyone else too. When I was 17 my mom took us to a drag show in New Orleans which was very tame and it was her way of teaching us about such people and how thats how they were born. This was 1967. My brothers went too. My younger brother is gay and I think she recognized that and it was for his benefit too.
Liz sorry for your no fun day. But it will be over soon. Glass of wine might be acceptable.
Oooh Dave Morels! Enjoy them. I don't know if they have them around here but I have a friend who is a mushroom expert and will ask. There is a guy here who grows all kinds of mushrooms and they are available at our coop. Never seen Morels though. But I can occasionally get ahold of a fresh abalone. A treat. Butter required.
Well 134.5 today. Got a lot of steps in at the slow gallery by parking far away, walking to the bank, sweeping and orbiting.
Well Kairk, glad you are feeling better. Depression is often just a chemical imbalance and no reason to put up with it. There was talk of unconditional love for kids here today. We should do that for ourselves too.
Ha, so you think grooming border terriers is easy. We spend hours making them look natural. Still would not want to take on an Airedale. With my gimpy hands I have to get a lot of help from my breeder. Plus Tesla is a wiggle worm.
Joey sorry your daughter is in the hospital again. So good that the boys like sleep overs with grandma.
Well lots of mundane chores like chasing down 1099's for my mom's taxes. And scoop dog poop. Ah the glamorous life of a retiree.
Peace and positive thoughts. Diane S
I groom a number of Borders. Several years ago I assisted keeping Benny (GCH Surefyre's Benny and the Jets) groomed while he was being campaigned by the Wornalls. Once he was in coat it took me about 45 minutes to trim him top to bottom for the ring each week.
For those of you who wonder.... this is a picture of a very natural looking Border Terrier (Benny). It takes weekly grooming to keep that coat trimmed and in the proper condition.
