Weight 116.25, calories 930. I guess the extra pound yesterday was water. I have my one year checkup with the surgeon today.

Layoff day: About 10% in related departments are affected. It will feel like a dark day. Us managers apply the ax this morning, then talk to the rest of our group in the afternoon. It is NOT going to be a good day. I can't wait to retire, though it looks like compressed work weeks will be coming soon (my financial planner will be happy).

Have a much better day than I will!

Big (((HUGS))) Liz. What a tough day for you!

Weight exactly the same! Calories were at 1,267 and I got a little over an hour of exercise. Two day streak - yay!

Got the new washer and dryer and TV delivered yesterday and did get some house cleaning in as well. DS#1 even cleaned his room - miracle of miracles!

Dean of students said it was fine that DS#2 was going to Prom in drag. The plunging neckline is a problem but we fixed it with a scarf that gave the dress the pop of color it needed anyway! I've already decided the title to the scrapbook page I will make - Prom 2017......What A Drag!

Work today then?????

Happy Hump Day my friends!

Paula

We WILL need a picture! My friends son went to prom with his boyfriend (hadn't officially come out previously). It is great that kids can be themselves (and are brave enough to deal with any jerks). A good message for all!

Hope you are enjoying the chemo free week. How is Ben's pain level? Hope he's hanging in there and not being too stoic!

Glad that your #2 has a good scaffolding of support in place. I know what it means on such a deep level for him to commit to this action. While he may not quite understand its importance at this time, going to the prom in drag will be a pivotal moment in his life. You and Ben are heroes in my book for creating the safe haven that gives him the courage to be himself.

Dinner was tough tonight with the radiation burn. Will need to ask for something to coat/numb the esophagus when eating.

Thanks for the compliments on our parenting. We feel like utter failures at times - but I guess most parents probably feel that way! I just can't understand when parents abandon/shun their kids for something like homosexuality - or really for most any reason!

DS#1 and DIL#1 were hunting mushrooms and come to find out there were morels right by the shop in the woods. They found 4.5 lbs. They had us over for supper last night. It was a pretty good substitute for N&Y. Now I am looking for them.

Unconditional love from parents. Wish I had gotten some of that when I was growing up. I left at 16 and spent years in hating the past. My dad was a preacher so everything was sinful. Sounds like ya'll have some seriously awesome parenting skills.

Built a couple more walls in the shop and have a couple more to build. need more supplies.

Liz, Hope your day is not as bad as it seems. Managers have a hard job.

More later, David

I love morels! Of course we used to eat them dredged in flour and fried in butter - what's not to like?

Wowza Wednesday!

126's.

Liz, you look great as the headliner! Sorry that today is going to stink.

Paula, love the scrapbook headline! I echo that we must have a picture. "Kids these days" are so open and accepting as a matter of course. Good for the school for being aok with it. Good for you for giving the school the heads up. They will be ready to support your son and ready for any adult blow-back. Because I worry in general, I worry about violent haters. Not that I think that their existence should keep DS2 from being himself, tho. Then I worry if DS2 truly believes no one will know who he is. Hello????

I only find morels in high end grocery stores. Delicious. Dave, I love that you have branched out to two acceptable foods! And one of them you have to forage for! (I'm thinking that house in the woods does not have a high end grocery store down the road.)

Devon, I had been wanting to ask if Ron had noticed a difference. That is such a tell. Welcome back, Playful-Devon.

Make it a great day! Shel

Liz-That's so tough. Hugs. DH was in that position a year ago. About 30% of his company was laid off, 20% in the office. He was lucky that he only had to let go of one, but that really bothered him. He had been assured he was not on the chopping block, but then his boss was laid off and he started to get nervous. Hopefully it's done respectfully and swiftly. It's never a good thing. But hopefully it's not a worse than necessary situation.

Paula-Oh wow. That's some gumption your kid has!

Afm weight was 156.2 today. Finally breaking again. But I feel dehydrated so it could be mostly from that, darn it. I'm starting to wonder if I'll make my goal. I need to lose another 7.2lbs. in just over 7 weeks (surgiversary). Sounds totally doable, right? In a normal situation, maybe. But we're going to Hawaii in 3 weeks, so I for sure won't be losing one of those weeks, and I'll probably count it as a win if I come back with only a 2-3lb. gain even though we are planning to workout and be active on vacation in general. I don't want to bog down a potentially once in a lifetime trip fretting over a pound or two. What difference does it really make in the grand scheme of things? And yet, so close!! So if I factor in an assumed 2.8lb. weight gain (easy math!) for Hawaii, and take one week of losses away, I basically have 10lbs. to lose in 6 weeks. Still doable, but more difficult. I'm trying to simultaneously hold that goal in mind and use it to push myself without allowing fear of failing to cause me to totally give up. If I'm 152 or 153 on my surgiversary, that's still lower than I've been since at least my wedding 2 1/2 years ago! But I don't wanna cop out, either. Does that make sense? I find goal setting at this stage to be more difficult. Before it was just like "lose weight".
