The time change is difficult: I didn't wake up until 6:15.

Weight 115.5, calories 1203. Pretty good considering that I had brunch at DS' restaurant. I had ahi tuna and though I had some tiramisu and a sweet aperitif, the calories weren't too bad.

I went to my in-person support group last night. It was good, but geared as usual to new people's questions. We never get to talk much about issues further on (though there were some longer term participants this time). One woman had a DS years ago and was having surgery in a few days for "bacterial overgrowth". When I hear about issues like this I'm glad I had a VSG (her sister was also at the meeting and is pre-op for VSG).

I am supposed to leave mid-day today for my business trip, but I am a little worried about an incoming nor'easter will affect where I'm going to be (Jersey City) as well as where I live (Cape Cod). It should happen between my flying, but means I will be slogging around there in the snow tomorrow. I used to have a long down coat for that kind of stuff, but I had to give it away as it would fit 2 of me. So now I only have short coats. I guess I'll be taking short cab rides (1/2 mile from hotel to meeting).

I talked to oldest DD yesterday (stepdaughter). She is leaving her high-power marketing job in NY. So she may come to Florida for a few days while I'm there the last 2 weeks of March. DH will be happy. All his children have started calling him daily which is really nice for him (they have realized that texts and emails don't work with their Dad anymore).

Have a great Monday!

steps: wiring, shop organization, clean up.

Eating continues to be this obsession with N&Y. Good thing is I don't have to put a lot of thought into meal planning. I keep thinking this will burn itself out. No end in sight. Totally repulsed by meat. I did eat shrimp a couple of times recently but ended up feeding the last of it to the dogs.

Dogs are more calm in the Airstream. Still sleeping in the shop but they will come in and find a spot to curl up. The cat is pumped about being a shop cat. She has been outside for years.

More later, David

Marvelous Monday to all of you!

125's

Liz, good luck with your travel. It is a great time of year to pick up winter coats on sale for next time. Or maybe you are thinking that you might not need one with sunny retirement looming.

I am not done painting but I am ahead of schedule. The rest of the house is a wreck.

I don't mind daylight savings time cuz I personally find evening light more useful than morning light. But, I hate springing ahead. There is no spring in my head this morning .

I like daylight savings time too - just don't like the change. I'd rather stay on daylight savings year round

Time to dial calories down by 100-200 for a while. This is what I do when my weight goes up a little and reaches the 100-pounds-lost-point-on-the-scales. BTW, that's 135.6. Also, snuggling up indoors, i.e., being less active this winter, is also showing up on the scales. Yes, my name is Ann, and I'm a little bit obsessive.

It snowed some more last night, and it's fluffy white outside. But the roads are good, so I have no excuse to skip the pool this morning.

Wishing for all a happy, productive, safe Monday. Time to get up, suit up, and show up.

Good morning everyone

And oh! For those of us who have family health issues my heart is so with you.

Not a great food day at all and no walking.

Weight today: 162.2. I'm a bit frustrated, but hopefully consistency will pay off. And this time I have no interest in losing weight quickly. I want to turn fat into muscle. I had thought my start weight, 164.8, was high since it was a water-weight time of month. And now after more than 3 weeks I'm down only 2.6lbs. At least I'm down, right? And losing at low weights can be hard. But in 21 days since joining the gym I've worked out 15 times! Even when on vacation! And I've been very careful about tracking calories--down to weighing fruits in grams!!

That being said, yesterday was a very snacky day. But I did count it all. 1417 cals. Surprised that my "bad day" was so low. Also did 50 minutes of cardio for somewhere 350-400 calorie burn. We also did cardio after work Friday night. But I may have overdone the incline because I nearly cried at personal training. I felt like I was going to fall (I don't squat well--no balance) and I had to excuse myself for a few minutes to collect myself. And afterwards I felt like a big baby for not pushing through and getting a better workout. But I'm trying not to focus on that. Just showing up is good for me. I can do better tonight.

On the bright side, my bmi is currently exactly 25.0. If I lose 0.6lbs. I will be back to a normal weight.

Paula-I'm sorry you are going through so much right now. You really do not need the added stress of the kids. My DSS refused to go to college. Well, actually we kind of "made him an offer he couldn't refuse"--and put him up in a condo, and he had a full ride (very bright kid) but did NOT want to do it. So what'd he do? Made several Ds, a couple Cs, and dropped out. After a year of toughing it out on his own and working, we told him he could move home and we'd pay for local school and for him to live with us while he treated school like a job. Everyday he got up and we believed he went to school. Found out at the end of the semester he never went, never dropped, had 5 failing grades in college. He still thinks college isn't worthwhile and has all sorts of excuses as to why he didn't go to class/failed. He's a procrastinator and also likes to blame other causes. We have finally accepted that what we would have him do is not for him (very sad because he is so bright and could have it much easier). But we also have had to hold him accountable to the fact that he is the only one driving this bus and the only one getting in his own way. I guess my only "advice" would be that whole "you can lead a horse to water." I really thought if we made it easier on DSS, or took away any other distractions, he would do it. But I've finally realized he doesn't think like me or DH, and he just doesn't want it! I wish he had never done the last semester or school because if he does change his mind someday, an entire semester of Fs will be difficult to get around.

about balance and squats.....overtime, you will find your balance improves because your core strength is going to improve and then things like squats become more about....well, squatting, than balance.

All of it is crazy inter-related and incremental improvement not always easy to see. You are doing great! Frustration and being a big baby is normal :) So glad you are focusing on showing up rather than giving up.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with DSS, makes me not feel so alone in all of this. All of our friends have highly successful kids so can't really relate!

Paula, not to suggest that our daughter's situation is the same, but through the course of talking about her, I've heard of so many kids who get off to a slow start transitioning into adulthood. Hang in there.
