Good early morning everyone

And welcome Barb.

woken up by the dogs baying at something, likely a spider.

Dave, what is a safe house? Is it below ground or?

Kairk, you are here and you have not given up so you are a winner in my books. As is everyone else on this board who is going through some very tough times!

Walked for two hours and food was ok.

Ever onwards!

Good morning and welcome BarbSleeved! My dogs were quiet for once this morning, Carbon. Devon, nice to hear from you. You are definitely a winner. I know those of us who fought so hard to lose weight feel like failures when we gain but what you weigh isn't who you are. Sooner or later you'll be able to find a path that works for you.

No weight this morning as DS is in scale room again. I think he stays when laundry need to be done... He had brought home some desserts and croissants from the restaurant yesterday. Okay with the desserts, but a croissant found its way into my heart (wow!). Calories not too bad at 1511 though.

Another depressing news day at work. I was sworn to secrecy but found out that 20 more people in an adjacent department are being laid off in early April. That plus calls and notes from people who already got the ax is really tough. I may tell my boss next week about retiring. Maybe I can save someone? Unfortunately I don't think it works that way.

DD got home okay and sounds SO much better than when she left for Florida. They said they had a good time regardless - that it was "relaxing": one day at the pool, one day at the beach, one day at Busch Gardens, one day in the hospital and a few hanging around days. DH called just after they left crying because they were gone. Luckily yesterday was a full day for him as he did water aerobics in the am, then it was burger day by the pool in the afternoon.

Have a good day all!

Oh man Liz, all those work cuts must be difficult. You have a lot of stress on your plate too right now. I think we could all use a vacation....I know I could.

Glad DD is feeling better. I would hate to have to be in the hospital while on vacation.

Hi Barbsleeved

Liz-that's so tough and sad. My husband's office had huge layoffs February last year and it really shook everyone. Sad to go to work and not see so many familiar faces

951 cals, but not as great on macros-40% carbs, 20% protein, 40% fat. 12/17 days worked out

Bodypump is a high rep/low weight "cardio" weightlifting. I use quotation marks simply because it's not really cardio, but because you don't rest between sets, you keep your heartrate up. I've been a few times in the past and always way overdid it, even when trying to scale back. To the point that it was hard to use my lunging legs to sit on a toilet! So I scaled wayyyy back yesterday...I think I might have not put in enough effort. No soreness today. Did not exhaust my muscles. But the good news is that means I'll be back next week and can add weights. After that class was "Cardio HipHop". It sounded so fun so I stayed for half the class (needed to finish up dinner...and I'd already been at the gym for 1 1/2 hours!). It was a blast. Most fun I've had in awhile.

I don't even recognize who I'm becoming! Anything with the word "cardio" sounds fun ? And was a blast ?

MFP thought I earned an extra 786 calories from exercise yesterday. Hooey. But I did track the cardio class under "exercise" on my fitbit and it calculated that 30 min. at 216 calories. If my dripping sweat was any indication, that's believable. Coupled with bodypump I do think I burned 350-400 calories.

I have a bit of a headache today and I'm wondering if it's from dehydration, working out, too low calories or what. I do think my calorie intake is a little low for my activity. I didn't even take phentermine yesterday! It's just I've been trying not to snack/not as hungry midday, and then with going to the gym I literally cannot eat dinner until 8pm, and by that time I literally don't have enough time to overeat.

Today will be a rest day and I think an industry salesman is taking my husband and me to dinner. I will have a wine or two and probably a steak, maybe asparagus. I love steak dinners! So indulgent yet so low carb.

As a clinical exercise physiologist, your description of your new found love of exercise makes my heart sing! Good for you! And depending on how you are doing the "cardio" weightlifting, it most certainly can count as cardio. I have some routines that combine upper and lower body together (i.e. squats or lunges with bicep curls, shoulder extensions, triceps) that get the heart rate up there. If it is sustained, it is cardio!

You are doing great with your new determination - I need some of that right now!

Thank you! I just wi**** was showing up more on the scale. But I've committed to at least 3 months, so at least 3 months I will go.

The most difficult part is timing. I love my downtime at home and it's nearly impossible to do that and exercise. I'm immersing myself in it and also telling myself that for now I need a calorie deficit to lose weight. Once I'm there, I can cut out what I don't like and maybe make it a more manageable 3-4 days per week of official "workout." But for now I'm really shocked that it's a fun hobby. I do have to argue with myself every day to go, but then I at the least feel accomplished, and at best wish I could've stayed longer I was having so much fun. And even though the scale isn't really cooperating, I'm feeling much better/more appreciative of my body. It's a thrill and a feeling I haven't had since WLS. Not even plastic surgery did that for me.
