Happy Hump Day!
Just checked in on VSG board... made me sooo grateful for all of you and the way we respect and interact with one another. Just sayin !!
We can all get through this week ! I am so honored to be fighting the battle, celebrating the highs and enduring the lows with all of you !!

Good morning! Ocean, I know what you mean about the caring and mutual respect in our group here. Speaking of which, I hope Devon is okay.
I don't know exactly what transpired because I guess it all got censored? I agree that equal censorship should be applied, but why are people nasty to others in the first place? Don't we have enough to deal with in our own lives?
No weight this morning, but calories were good yesterday partially because I had a long day in the office and only ate what I packed.
Some slight drama with DD this week. She ended up in the hospital with bronchitis while visiting DH in Florida. She had it when she got there and it got worse. She went to urgent care and got meds but they weren't helping so she ended up on IV antibiotics and oxygen. She is much better now, but DH was having a tough time because he felt he should get involved in telling her what to do (fatherly instinct), but she is almost 29 and was doing fine. All calmed down and she flies home today.
Went to an Alzheimer's fundraiser at DS restaurant on Monday night with SIL. Went because DS wanted us to, but made some good contacts. I met the wife of a man who has written an excellent book about what it is like to have early Alzheimer's (Greg O'Brien: On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer's). She is about my age and her husband is about my husband's age so we talked about some of the common issues for them and us. She introduced me to a woman who coordinates programs throughout Cape Cod and we exchanged contact information. She mentioned that DH would probably benefit from a support group of men who have early Alzheimer's and were professionals previously. I told DH about it and he was very interested.
Final thing: My company laid off 100 people in IT yesterday, many of whom I have worked with on technology projects over the years, and several of them on current projects. They just slashed the numbers in one job class because there were too many without regard for their capabilities or current assignments. I'm just sick about how this will affect them personally. Many of them were great performers, recently have been working nights and weekends on one of my projects, and this is the thanks they get! Needless to say it is tough for those of us remaining to be motivated and we have no idea what this means for our projects. I had 1:1 meetings with my direct reports yesterday pre-scheduled and of course this was all they could talk about. I was going to spend April thinking about the timing for retirement in light of my new department/role, but at this moment I don't even want to work there at all!
I hope your day goes well and you have the support you need for what you are all going through.

Good morning!
122's. It is start painting the family room day. I have been you-tubing how to use blue tape. Pretty tame stress relative to many of you. I have my yearly PCP appt today. No stress with that anymore.
Paula, a nurse I worked with found great stress relief listening to monk chants. I know you are super on the go but its a thought, esp if you are otherwise unoccupied at some of DH's appt's. GL with those, today.
BB, nice to see you! Proud of you for getting started at the gym! Just a little extra strength feels so good and how great that you and DH are doing it together! I wish I could get DH interested in something like that. Glad you have phentemine as a tool. I know my health care system utilizes meds, if indicated, to help with regain. A year ago I was horrified that VSG might not always be "enough." Now I totally get it.
Liz, that is a lot going on with work! Glad you have found peeps in common for Alzheimer's support.
Joey, you are a great mom/grandma. Devon? Hello? Are you on a break from the forum (aok if that's what you need) or is that new cutie in your life keeping you on the run? DianeO, always glad to find your wisdom. Also love your humanity.
Ann, enjoyed your thoughts on the main board about food variety. Interesting stuff. I am going to schedule with a dietician this summer for a tune up. This time around, I think I will look into ones that got their training at the local naturopath university. Same credentials as the ones I work with. But the have one foot planted in alternative medicine for (perhaps) a different point of view, By the way, your post caught my eye because of the high view count. I think "did you vomit?" might have had you beat, but your were darned close :)
Thanks to all for being here, hug your health today, Shel

I agree on the nastiness on the main thread. I only popped back in yesterday but the "brief statement" was suggested so I read it. Sounds to me like some vets finally got called out on being mean. That has happened to me before on here as well, which is why I made a (yes, passive aggressive) blog post entitled "weight loss superiority complex." When I first came on here in 2010 to seek info about surgery, the surgeons were recommending it as a great resource for knowledge and support. I spent sooooo much time on here back then, and the boards were much more active. I think all of us know what we should do, but hey we're humans. I mean, if I were that perfect that I didn't sometimes slip up and give into head hunger or x, y, z, whatever, then I wouldn't have been here needing WLS in the first place. And I've never pretended I'm above regain.
This VSGM board has ALWAYS been a kind, supportive place and I'm so appreciative of that. I rarely go on to post on the main board. It only makes me feel bad. I can't imagine how I would've felt early days had I received some of the comments I've seen to newbies. And although I do want to lose another 10lbs. I've regained, and potentially 5-10 additional, I think I'm far from a failure. Every year around this time, I think about where I wished I would be 7 years ago. Although the number on the scale doesn't match up (tbh, my surgeon only every thought I would get down to 200!!--but I had hopes for 140), I think near-maintenance for 6 years, and having the energy to come back and fight 10lbs. when they crept back on is better than I could've hoped for.
Weight today was down (but still up from a couple ago): 163.4, calories 1125, 39% carbs (115g), 31% protein (93g), 29% fat (40g). Fitbit tells me I burned an extra 481 calories (I think it wayyy overestimates), but the treadmill told me I burned 300. I don't eat those calories so it doesn't matter, just more of a keeping track.
11/16 days at the gym. Plan to go to bodypump tonight.
You're rocking it ! What is a body pump ?

Good morning
you know we are all doing well! We are putting one foot in front of another and going forward. ( well in my case it is one toward and two back sometimes).
Some of us are carrying very heavy loads and I commend you.
yesterday was not a great day but the culmination was a massive lightning bolt that literally seemed to come out of nowhere and a shattering thunder roll that came at about 8 pm.
The local reports are that at our very small airport, a plane wa**** upon landing. No one was hurt and the crew were fearless. Wow!!!! Scary!
Kairk, where arrrrrrrrrre you?????
Have a peaceful day everyone knowing that you are rocking this journey!
Wt 220.6 down 1.4 Calories 1179.
Eating is pretty much N&Y. It will change today. I ran out and this village has 2 grocery stores owned by the same person. No Greek yogurt. I could make it but small sink. Big mess. So I will wait till tomorrow.
I don't get on the main forum much lately. I read here even when I don't post. I just don't understand negative postings.
I have been busy lately. Feels great to be productive. Balancing act with the back. Still moving the last bits of stuff.
We had storms again night before last but it was mostly to the north of of us. We ended up in our DS basement to ride out the storm. We have a storehouse here but it is being updated from years of neglect. Thinking about making a safe room in the shop in the woods. Something easy to get in and herd the animals into.
Seek peace, do good. David

Non-VSG, adulting advice needed --
Is there a gentle, non-combative way to ask a grown a$$ adult to cover their mouth when they cough and sneeze? A co-worker who works very closeby wet coughs all day (smoker who now has a cold) and literally NEVER covers her mouth. She even said yesterday that she thinks she has a fever! yet here she is at work. Of course, she has to sneeze like a 3-year-old? big loud AHHH breath in, then big loud, rolling spitty sneeze PfPfPfPfPPLEW.
I am venting, but really hoping that this could be resolved without an argument.
EDITED to add -- I googled this since it is obviously getting to me and read a suggestion about posting CDC flyers about covering your coughs/sneezes. I posted one in the kitchen. We'll see if it gets through to the person who needs it most.
Could you put a copy of it on her chair when she's in the rest room? ;)
