Just past midnight and can tell it is going to be another sleepless night. For those of you with pain, give me a call and we can commiserate.

visitors left about 10 and my goodness did they not spark a discussion which is why the brain is whirring.

we both grew up in small towns, mine was a whopping 1200 population. Soooooo somehow it was decided that a town reunion would be a great idea. Just get on FB and easy peasy. Right!

Food just ok and no walking. Tomorrow is a brand new week. Yay!

And it is snowing.

It sounds like you had an enjoyable visit Carbon. I hope you can sleep late! It's impossible here as Duchess begins crying at the bottom of the stairs @ 4:30 every morning unless DS is here. Usually that gets me out of bed by 4:45. Not great when I'm WFH, but handy when I have to go into the office (built-in alarm clock).

DD went to the hospital in Florida yesterday afternoon. They said she doesn't have pneumonia but a whopping case of bronchitis and admitted her for IV antibiotics, magnesium sulfate and to keep her on oxygen. Hopefully she will be back out this morning. She isn't having a great vacation so far.

SIL and I are going to an Alzheimer's fundraiser tonight at the restaurant where DS is Sous Chef. The speaker is Greg O'Brien who wrote On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer's. He has Alzheimer's as did his mother so he wrote an enlightening and to most an inspiring book about living with it. DH tried to read it but couldn't get past the beginning where the mother goes downhill rapidly and dies, so DH was depressed by it.

Weight 116.25 (minus .75 from yesterday). Calories 1289 which is fine but they included cheese and bacon potato skins. I mostly ate the topping, but felt guilty none the less. I had it late afternoon so it ended up being my dinner since I was too full to eat dinner at the normal time (hence the calories not being too high).

Paula, I hope your ear is better today and the PET scan situation gets worked out. Have a good Monday all!

Carbon... so sorry sleep still eludes you while pain visits. Chronic pain is such a challenge.

Snow squalls and bitter cold here again all weekend. Too cold to walk, for sure ! I made the decision to pass on the next 5:45-6:45 AM session of boot camp, buoyed by the promise of an extra hour of evening daylight, coming next weekend. As I continue to embrace the positives of retirement, 5:45 AM is just too early.

Just In the Range by the skin of my sleeve. Why is it when I write a post about how good it feels to eat under my sleeve, on VSG board, I push the limits for two days ? Finding my "new normal" is something I can never take for granted.

Have a great day !

Diane

Giggle for the day.

I just explained to DH how this site makes money. He quipped back "think I'll start a site for fat dogs call it Obesity Yelps".

Company will leave this morning, and we certainly have had a good time. But because it's been so much more social than we're used to, we're a tad tired.

Yesterday was a food-intensive day, meaning that I cooked a lot more than usual and, consequently, ate more. For instance, I made a "company breakfast" -- fresh fruit, bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits, butter, jellies and jams.

It's obvious that some feelings of obligation and tradition don't align with a healthy lifestyle. Also, there must be something about those old calculations, e.g., rich foods = love, that still appeal to me. I'd like to feel comfortable offering healthier options to both guests and myself in these social settings. I'm sure this can be done with planning and practice.

Thought for the day: Life never stops offering lessons.

And just to show myself carby breakfasts aren't required, this morning I put out a breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt and nuts for our guests. Even made it do-it-yourself style.

Done!

NIR (not in range). Doing what I can these days, which is just hanging on. No exercise. Even if I felt like it, ear too painful to consider.

Waiting to hear what tests will be scheduled this week and when. Hate the waiting part, ready for a plan!

Paula, based on my experience thus far with hubby's cancer, this really is the worst part -- the waiting and unknowns before treatment starts. And I wasn't even in physical pain during that phase. I'm so sorry about your ear. I hope you get relief from that very soon.

  1. It is not real.

My son went to a bachelor party with his best friends Saturday early afternoon and came home Sunday. He had a great time, I wasn't worried about him, because I know his friends really well. Anyway, I had the house to myself. The grandkids were at their own house and stayed there even though they wanted another sleepover. What to do, what to do? Normally, I would have a snickaday, which means jammies, movies, a blanket, chips, cookies, chocolate, candy. I changed it up a bit and put on my jammies, got under a blanket on the couch with the dogs, put on some movies and drank -- Tea, coffee, then some soup. The urges to snick were still there, so after putting it off for a long time, I nuked a bowl of green beans, put some butter and salt on it and enjoyed them immensely. That worked.

My crazy aunt sensed that I was having a quiet cozy day and asked me to help her with a few errands. I got dressed, cleaned out my car and picked her up. After the errands, she wanted me to stay and she would order in dinner. I told her that since Ben was away, I wanted to clean the house and would just have something small for dinner. I lied... I wanted to be back under the blanket with the boys! So I did what I wanted to do!!! Nothing.
