VSG Maintenance Group
Saturday March 4
It is cold here in New England today but luckily there isn't any snow in sight. The doggies were very quick out and in this morning. Saw the PS yesterday and was cleared for all exercise. I'll go to Zumba tomorrow, but not sure I'll do the gym today as I need to house clean (it is way overdue).
Weight 116, calories 1492. Up a pound over the last week but calories were generally good. Hmmm...
Paula, it sounds like more fact-finding is needed (especially that PET scan). It is hard when everything is a battle with insurance. These days it seems that PET scans are pretty routine to narrow down what is going on with cancer so you would think that it wouldn't be a big deal to get approval.
Have a good Saturday!

Hubby's step-daughter and her husband are coming to visit this weekend. We always enjoy their company and will try to spoil them. They're empty nesters with two boys in college and now planning their next phase of life. Aren't we all?! ;)
Had an interesting development this past week -- an old client called to beg-beg-beg me to come out of retirement to do a short-term project with them. I'm considering it -- for the money and the chance to spend time with people I enjoy and to wear something besides 501s and yoga pants. ;)
It's strange to feel that old adrenaline thumping through my veins. And it's flattering, which is even more dangerous. Really gotta think about this. BTW, hubby's reaction is his usual: "Whatever you want, babe!"

125 OTD. If I type this, perhaps I will do it: I am going to practice saying No here at home. I have grown to love my non-grazing at work. I want to share the love.
Thought about skiing today but the house is torn apart and I have to get some paint decisions/prep done. I am going jump start that project and then see what the weather says for tomorrow.
My Buster has an infection on his foot (a toenail probably got caught on something) and was worried about him last night. He seems more like himself this morning. In retrospect, he has been hugging me close lately. I thought it was just cuz the house has felt cold without the family room fireplace. He is on his second day of antibiotics. We are supposed to do foot soaks, too. That should be interesting.
Paula, because I am unable to leave guidelines alone, the NCCN guideline says CT alone is initial care and Pet/CT "if needed" I bet the second request will be approved. I hate, tho, the additional radiation.
I like the NCCN's patient guides....easily understandable for anyone. Goes thru every moment of the process, no matter the patient's path. I think the guide's format makes it downloadable like an e-book tho I didn't try. Here's the one for esophageal cancer. https://www.nccn.org/patients/guidelines/esophageal/index.ht ml#
Have a terrific day everyone!
Shel

Beautiful day here today. Saw my first snake of the season, in the talons of a hawk. Steps today are cleaning out and rebuilding the door to the storm house. It is already taking more steps than we thought.
Ann, I have been a work-o-holic most of my life. In the past few years I have modified my perspective. I still say go for it. Soak in the challenge. It is always nice to be needed and able to do something that somebody else really needs. I love to get lost in the work. I love to make stuff. Design, measure, figure costs, cut out and build. I liked nursing when I was doing that but for totally different reasons. I worked mostly in intensive care. The human body never ceases to amaze me. DW is working some as she can. She says she liked retirement better.
Paula, I truly hate insurance companies. My prayers for you and yours continue.
More later, David

Well spring is on the way. I have seen robins. What I thought were purple tulips are in fact crocus and there are also daffodils coming up in that planter. This friend often gives me a planter with bulbs in it at Christmas. Then it just sits around until they come up and we put it on the deck. When they are done we just put it in a sheltered area and get it out the next year. Great idea for lazy gardeners.
133 today. Hot and sour soup with shrimp last night. I put some edamame in it. A comfort food for me.
Well Liz, good for you for getting back to exercise. Your new pic is fabulous.
Shel, sorry Buster has a bad toe. Gl with the foot soak. not sure how to do that one except massage doggie the whole time its in the soak so it won't want to leave.
Paula I wish I could grab that insurance company and shake them. I hate them too. Ours actually denied coverage for anesthetic on DH's vsg! Of course we called them on it and they said oh they just made a mistake. HAH. They also denied pathology on mine even though its written right into the policy. Same excuse.
Dave yuck, a snake. Probably lots where you live. I don't mind them actually. They live in our compost bin, but there aren't any dangerous ones here on the coast.
Well it rained all night but that sneaky sun is out for a minute. Dog walk time.
Entered Tesla in her first dog shows. Now she needs training. Wish I could beam her to Devon.
Time for more coffee. Good energy to all. Diane S.
You're so smart! Spending our extra money on FUN is totally the plan -- specifically, travel. :)
