VSG Maintenance Group
Thursday March 2
No weight as DS is in room with scale, calories 1332. After getting up at 3 am yesterday, I slept from 7:30 pm last night to 6:30 am this morning. Getting up this late is rare.
DD landed in Florida yesterday morning and spent the afternoon in urgent care. Turns out she has pneumonia in one lung. She had the flu about 2.5 weeks ago and couldn't get rid of the cough but didn't go to the doctor because she was too busy at work and moving. Hopefully no wvthat she is on antibiotics it will clear up soon.
My boss asked yesterday if I can go on a business trip in a couple of weeks. I'm in a quandary as I would have to board the dogs. The place is nice and they stay together but it isn't home. But I want to go as it is a good change of pace and will be a really interesting meeting (new project, new technology). I'll chew on it today I guess.
Paula, I hope your MOHs went well. Everyone have a good Thursday!

It still seems strange when my appetite fluctuates and I eat accordingly. Tuesday I ate 300-400 cals less than usual, and yesterday I was a little hungrier and ate more. Although I see some of you not focusing on minor weight fluctuations and eating mindfully, I'm still into tracking and noticing the poundage decimals. I don't want to let go of those controls yet.
I suppose the phases we go through are over when they're over. ;) For me, the value of a maintenance group helps me evaluate which tactics are currently helping or hindering. Sort of a horses for courses thing.
Thought for the day: Take a long, slow, gentle inhale, and take a long, slow, gentle exhale.

I have the same fluctuation in appetite and try to get it to average out altogether. And as we discussed before I am tracking calories, weight, etc and graphing it!

Thursday is my weight day. Up to 162.5 from 161. I'm in a quandry regarding these numbers. My original goal weight pre WLS was to be 165, which is considered overweight for my height 5'7", but based on my weight history sustainable. I have been in the mid 150's for 3 years so had set this as my new range weight.
One part of my brain says relax - this is where you wanted to end up plus it is your body doing what it does 4 years out from WLS. The other side says, & it's mainly from being on OH, that many people keep themselves in the mid range of a normal BMI, so I need to do the same. Gotta settle this argument with my two minds
Liz, your pooches will enjoy the little vacation at the boarders. Afterall they are pets and it sounds like you are pretty jazzed about this work meeting. Really, how many more opportunities are there going to be for you to challenge your work life? I'd give the dogs their pajamas and say have fun...mommy's gotta get her work geek on.
vsgann, you and DH must be puzzel masters - do you play along with Will Shortz Sunday mornings?
Roxy, we aren't puzzle masters *yet*. :)
We haven't done crosswords for years, so we decided at the first of 2017 to get back into them this year. Our goal is to become much better this year. Right now, we do a couple of crosswords a day -- choosing from among the Washington Post (very easy), WSJ (quite good) and NYTimes, which are challenging some days, some days not.
And yes, we love Will Shortz's NYTimes puzzles (I think he only edits them now). But we don't "play along" with Will on Sunday mornings.
And to be clear, we do the puzzles together -- not competing with each other. Frankly, it's a lot of fun doing a team crossword. We know different things and have very different problem-solving skill sets. We have so much fun it's a little embarrassing.

Just found out WHY I was asked to go on the business trip: Another reorganization announcement happened this morning with a change in my job definition! This will be a plus on job content, but I am getting tired of the changes...

It sounds like they are not ready to let you go yet. :)

Morning Mates!
125, ate quite poorly yesterday. I was not hungry. It was an unusual day, fortunately.
About fluctuations and decimals and tracking. My scale goes to the 10ths and you bet I notice where I am at the time of weighing. I am mindful but then I let those 10th's go.
To me, it is the daily practice of weighing that matters, not the fluctuations. I do it, even (like today) I am scared. I dance up and down around 125 which is still my target even tho I had no idea if I would stick with it when I originally declared goal.
The science says that tracking food daily is best practice to maintaining weight loss but yet I don't do it regularly.
For food, I am generally pretty structured. I make almost all of what I eat so I know what's in it. I do have it in my brain that if I ever go above 128 (without extenuating cir****tances) then I MUST track but that hasn't happened.
By history, I can be quite obsessive about the numbers but that obsessiveness can drive me to the point where I just can't look anymore because it might be bad news. This is insane (perhaps literally) Like today, just how bad could one day of eating drive up the scale. Even if it was 5 lbs, how is that sooooo terrible that I can't look?
Anyhoo, per history, if I can't bring myself to look at the numbers then I go into ostrich mode which is the most dangerous of all.
Balance is key. But, I also know that wobbling and even falling is ok, too. In yoga, they would say the wobble/fall is where you find growth.....I think it applies to our maintenance, too.
So many words and so little time to edit. Sorry.
Have a great day, Shel
