Your concerns are valid! What I have going for me this time around is the complete awareness of what happens to me in situations like this. The knowledge I gained through reflection (and the feedback I got here) will be a tool for me to keep on track during this process. I have to remember, too, that it's not a lifetime of added responsibility. It is 3 to 4 weeks. By 4 weeks I can start weaning her and things will be in a nice flow.
I am also hoping that since Ron is not being a total dickwad like he was with the last litter, that I won't have that stress added to my plate. I do think that his being a total jerk last spring contributed a great deal to my reliance on food to cope. (Lately, I have nothing to blame except myself! LOL) When he realized that scheduling a meeting yesterday during the c section because "you won't need me there" didn't go over so well, he agreed that he should go with me for the c section to be supportive in the event that anything went wrong. That was a big switch from being pissed off that I needed his help when Blue had a stuck pup when he was trying to do sub plans at the last minute and I interrupted him. Yeah, we kind of had to have it out about that.
He just called to check in and agreed that I need to get some sleep and he can sleep with Blue and the pup tonight. So, looks like things are on track to be somewhat different this time around.
Devon, where are pictures of the new baby? NEVER MIND - My screen needed to be refreshed apparently. SO SWEET!

Still in bed. Have not yet weighed. Posting with the phone while prone! LOL
Hard night. Blue saw no need to be maternal last night. Therefore I had puppy duty at 1:30, 4:00, & 6:00 and then again around 8:15. I hope this is only temporary. Blue is in the box with her now. I am too old to care for a newborn and work! LOL! Fingers crossed the maternal instincts kick in big time very soon.
This is one tough pup! She is feisty and strong. She can practically walk across the box.
Feeling inspired to focus in on healthy eating. Came across a guy named Thom Delauer who is a ripped fitness model who was 280 pounds and lost 100 pounds. Went through cupboards last night to make sure there was no hidden crap. Found a few goodies and disposed of them. I believe my kitchen is once again a safe zone!
I want one of these (but not the late night feedings)! I hope Mom gets into the program!

Whew, lots going on with everyone. Makes me feel like a slug - still at 133. Hubby is out with Tesla for a walk as the sun was out but it suddenly clouded over and poured rain for a few minutes. He is going to be cranky and wet. I am guiltily snug and warm with my coffee. I'd better do something nice for him.
Liz I hope the work drama settles down but sometimes there is just nothing you can do about it but take care of yourself and loved ones. There is an old book "Your Money or Your Life" that helped me figure out that I could retire early and be fine financially. 15 years later its proven true.
Kairk, congrats on your new little girl. Glad to hear she is strong and feisty. Not easy taking care of a puppy non mothered. But I bet Blue kicks in soon. I had a friend who bred her champ bloodhound. 9 puppies and mama had mastitis and they had to hand feed all that herd for quite a while. Hope you can get some rest. Hold that puppy and let it nourish your soul.
I also had a friend who had a german shepherd that had been a single pup. She named him "Solo".
Well Shel, will come for dinner any time. Too bad we are all so spread out to make it hard to get together. We may have to schedule a conference in some arbitrary place - like Hawaii.
Daffodils are up here too! Our entire area used to be filled with daffodil farms. Then years ago some blight hit and there are no more farms. But you see daffodils in cow pastures and ditches and all sorts of odd places. There is a huge business here Sun Valley Floral Farms which grows star gazer and about 70 other kinds of tulips, lilies and iris. They have an open house once a year. Its fun. Huge warehouses where they keep bulbs under temperature control.
My sympathies to those of you still under snow. We are getting rain off and on all week.
Ann you are making me want to get into crosswords again. I play a lot of on line scrabble and words with friends. I usually do the easy local paper crossword at the gallery when its slow. My brother likes the killer ones.
Dave, can't imagine having several dogs in a trailer space. Our entire house seems to be a kennel. Glad you are getting settled.
Well off to the gallery accountant, vet to pick up meds, groceries and other errands. Hope everyone has a good skinny day. Diane S
Hawaii? I'm in! I've never been there!
