Last day of the work week and last full day for me on Florida. All errands are done. I think DH is all set on food for at least a week or so. He does know how to go to the food store which is just around the corner. Signs with instructions are in relevant places including on the door to garage and on a sign taped in the car. The GPS has the important addresses in the favorites.

Weight 114.5; calories 1650.

I finished rearranging and a little bit of decorating yesterday. We got a dining set and outdoor rug for the lanai so it is set up as a good outdoor room now. All the beds are set up for company and towels are in the bathroom. I bought extra TP, because I was afraid DH would forget. I also told DS that when she arrives 10 days after I leave that she is responsible for making sure her Dad is all set for food and for washing all linens and towels before she leaves (she tends to leave them for me when she visits).

I am even less motivated at work than usual. The executive Vice President of the business segment I support was let go this week. Several of my projects are up on the air since they were his projects. It is very uncertain what the future is of that business unit, so people are very nervous, especially the Vice Presidents who he had personally brought in from other companies. We get our bonuses on March 10, so I'm not only going to tell them I am retiring but also suggest that if they have to downsize I would be happy to take a severance package and suggest my replacements on key initiatives. Hopefully it would give those individuals who aren't ready to retire some security and it would obviously work well for me. Of course because I'm open to it, it won't happen.

Have a great end to your week!

Weight this morning: 135 OTD

Macronutrients yesterday:  Cals - 1,731, Carbs - 217, Fat - 52, Protein - 94, Sugar - 120, Fiber - 32

Exercise yesterday:  Yoga (The teacher busted our butts!  It was that kind of class.)

Veggies/fruits yesterday:  5 (goal is 7)

Plans for today:  Aquarobics, grocery shopping, travel plans, reading, crosswords

So ... my 2017 goal of regularly eating 7 veggies/fruits a day isn't happening very often.  But it looks like having a goal of 7 a day is helping me hit my old 2016 goal of 5 a day much more often. ;)  Therefore, I'll keep aiming for 7.  #RationalizationChampion

Liz, you are so very organized.  Respect!  It also sounds like a perfect time to exit the company.

Mornin'!

122's. Kcal 1782, protein 150, carbs 187, fiber 41, sugar 80, fat 80.    I was hungry last night...19% of cals were before bed!

Musing of the day:  a MO patient was telling me yesterday that with one of his viral illnesses he developed a super sense of smell that was overwhelming.  Food in particular was problematic, he felt blanketed with stench if it got close to his face.  He lost 20 lbs quickly (again, MO so used to lots of calories). When the viral illness ran its course his usual sense of smell returned.

He remembers it as one of the worst experiences of his life and all I could do was spout off that it was like he had developed spidy-sense --- his own super power.  How amazing that any of our senses could be heightened like that!  Is that how dogs smell things?

But bringing it back to me (cuz it is always about me) isn't that a potential target of therapy?  How cool would it be to temporarily turn that on as a diet aid?

Go find your spidy sense....apparently it just out there waiting to be turned on.

Liz... positive thoughts that everything works out for you ! I wish I'd retired sooner !

Everyone here is hunkered down with sandbags and cement barriers to channel flowing water. It will be an inside day, for sure. The hotel has fairly decent weights and cardio equipment. Eating is great... drank too much yesterday... kind of a hurricane party mentality !

Thinking about those in the path of dams and mud slides.

204.  I know it's just a slight upward fluctuation and expect a big drop. My son made stir fried shrimp and spinach for dinner last night and went a little heavy on the garlic and way heavy on the salt. He usually makes it perfectly although he never measures anything.  I have been eating healthy in the midst of a storm of candy and sleeping well despite my worries.  Yesterday, I bought a new fitness band and hope it will motivate more exercise.

Another night without my grandsons. L  I know they are fine, school is closed today and it helps that they are older and know how to call me.

I called my daughter who said she may be going home today. She is down in the dumps because "everybody is mad" at her.  She doesn't realize how cutting she can be when she is angry and her blood sugars and blood pressure are high.  At this point I don't think she ever will.  I have learned to let it go, because to me it is another symptom of her illness and not her true self.  Maybe I'm wrong, but it works for me.

149.5 today - yay!! 75 minutes on the treadmill yesterday watching a marketing course.  I started journaling my goals into four scheduled hour-long sprints each day.  As a result, I have gotten an amazing amount of things done already today! I have not had to activate the app that turns off social media on the computer during a sprint, but it is there if I need it!

Getting ready to go back on the treadmill now for another hour. Called AT&T and got my monthly bill reduced and gb increased. Got Tricare medical and dental insurance turned on.  Need to investigate disability insurance, just in case.  Will sign up for unemployment next week;  technically my last day is Wednesday. Totally cleaned out the file cabinet and got rid of a lot of stuff I didn't need anymore to make room for new business files. Sending out resumes during my Sprint 4 this afternoon, but I really don't want to go back to what I used to do. I'm feeling so happy and positive right now, away from my former career.

My sister, who has not spoken to me since last March (she is bipolar and had a severe manic episode in our house) actually sent me a brief email earlier today. Of course, she did not sign it with "love", but it is the first time she has reached out to me since her episode 11 months ago.  Her daughter - my goddaughter - is getting married this fall, and expects her Mom to get over her snit fit  before the wedding!  This has all been very difficult for our mother to deal with.  I sent Sis a very nice email back and assured her that I do have a plan,  I do not have a job. And of course I did sign it with "love". I have been reaching out to her a couple of times a month since the episode.  Baby steps. :)

Have play dates and mall crawl and sleepovers arranged for the kids tomorrow. Yes, I am a social secretary in addition to all the many other things I do!

Greetings Great Organizers

Seems like one has to have decent organizational skills to manage maintenance as well as everything else in life. For some people, its just pick up fast food every night on the way home from work. No wonder we are a fat nation.

Liz, sounds like DH is in good hands. If you have to retire a little earlier than planned, so what. Exit on your own terms. When I retired from my large law firm, it took me months to get all cases transitioned and junk cleaned out. Still have dreams about it.

Diane O, so sorry you are in the one big storm every 10 years in so cal.  Up north here its raining but thats usual.

Joey grab some rest while you can.

Shel, I would challenge you to a rationalizing contest any day. One of my stronger talents.

Someone asked about the cauliflower ricotta bake. its simple. Wash and steam a broken up medium head of cauliflower until tender. drain and set aside.  Take 3 or 4 eggs, a cup of  ff ricotta cheese and 1/2 to one cup of shredded cheddar cheese. put all this including cauliflower plus salt and pepper in the food processor. Process until there are still a few chunks but blended. Pour into a pyrex baking dish sprayed with Pam. Bake at 350 for a half hour or so. So yummy. Works with spinach and probably with butternut squash and such.

Gallery duty today. very slow. So I worked on our corporate tax return.  The little town was packed with cars but I don't know where the people were.

Guard that skinny.  Diane S
