early good morning

just got home from a very treacherous journey, snow, freezing rain and lots of scary hills.   But we are thankful to be home and very very tired.

no exercise at all except for a Costco walk through.  Too much sitting.

will get more tomorrow shovelling th 14 inches of snow.

Ann how did the speech go?

Kairk I remember my Father saying that primary school teachers should get paid more then professors because if the pupils don't grasp fundamentals they are hooped.  Like me and math.   Mind you I had some profs that were worth every single penny.   It would be nice to have enough money so that everyone on the labour scale was paid a decent wage.

Have a good Thursday everyone, the Lord willing and the creek don't rise.  ( heard that old saying today )

Feel better soon Linda.  May the gallery Valentine treasures fly out the door Diane.

135 OTD. SNOW DAY !! I'll do my four hours of planned work from home.   Predicted snowfall has doubled to 10-14", so I'll think of you when I'm shoveling, Carbon !  If planes don't get deployed correctly by the end of the day, my 6:30AM flight could be impacted. I'll just go with the flow !

Dave, your adventure sounds so exciting ! Linda, so glad you checked in and feel better soon! Liz, sending positive thoughts that DH continues to settle in to the new home. Paula, hope the FL situation is resolved in the way that works best for you and your family. Shel, I continue to look forward to your spot on posts... seems like you are in my head much of the time! Devon, thanks for your reassurance about boarding. Your insight has been my mantra!

Apologies to those not mentioned by name... on my way out the door to shovel. You are all important to me and I value every individual contribution to our collective virtual family.

Carbon and Diane, I'm glad you are safe at home in the snow! Massachusetts is supposed to get slammed today as well. DS was supposed to start his new job as a sous chef today but that may not happen until tomorrow. I feel a little smug about being in Florida right now...

Weight is 113.5 this morning with 1593 calories yesterday. I think we are down to minor things needed for the condo, so this afternoon we are going to a flooring place and to the mall so husband can get a haircut. My plan after today is to go to the pool every afternoon after work and to the beach this weekend.

Speaking of the weekend, we had wine with the neighbors who share our driveway last night (the condos are one level in groups of 4). They were very nice, but I got a sense that they stay up late drinking wine a lot (even though at least a couple of them work). One neighbor invited us out on their boat this Saturday with the entire group. They were nice, but I sense there will be a lot of drinking etc. and I'm not sure that DH or I would have the "stamina" for it.  I said I'd let them know, but I feel a quiet day on the beach would be better.

Have a good day all and good luck with the weather for those contending with it!

Liz just an FYI to give you some perspective on calories. For me to maintain at 112-114 I need to eat 1500 calories. You may need significantly more than 1600 cals to move the scale up.

Thanks Linda - I'm having a hard time eating more! Isn't that the weirdest thing?

Yes I remember that phase well!  I focused on adding high calorie fats - a hunk soft cheese, a handful of nuts, etc.  easy to add 300 cals this way

Slept like a baby last night.  :)

You guys are so sweet with each other.  It's lovely to watch.  Many of you have an awful lot on your plates that you're responding to with grace.

For now, hubby's and my lives here are peaceful.  This is precious time for us, after many years of caregiving, family deaths, and his battle with cancer (he's currently back in remission).  We are treasuring every second.

I continue to learn how to "breathe through it" and to distinguish between what I can and cannot control.  The "Serenity Prayer" applies. ;)

134 OTD. Still a downward trend despite the Ghirardelli chocolate and peanut butter splurge last night.

Looks like there are more WI winters in my future....Booooooooo! The FL offer came in low. They will talk again on Friday but the answer will most likely not change. We prayed for God to make the decision clear and so far it is pretty clear that we need to stay, even though that isn't the answer I wanted. Probably the right answer though with my parents moving back to WI and DS #1's ongoing mental health challenges. I told DH that staying here will just mean more frequent trips to Maui! He actually wanted to go again this year but I need to have my vacation time for PS recovery once I have enough in the "bank" to get it done.

Off today. Hair cut and then I will do my own coloring at home. Since I have super short hair it is easy to do and saves me tons of money - especially since I do it every 4 weeks or so!

Perhaps some step aerobics for exercise today. I have not done yoga in forever either and I could use some "centering" these days as well! Decisions, decisions!

So sorry things aren't working out for the move but glad you're at peace about it. Still, things can change rapidly so you never know.

Sorry about future WI winters but I don't think you will ever go wrong praying for guidance.  Maui sounds good too.  Maybe they Have a job there.

i always hated going to get my haircut.  I have been cutting my own for 25 yrs. with a vacuum attachment clipper.  it is easier now that I just buzz cut it.
