Wednesday January 25 2017
I wrote a check to my son yesterday and was very careful to use 2017, not 2016 - so careful, that I wrote it for February, not January! Whoops!
Weight after breakfast yesterday was 116.5. So still have to weigh at a different time of the day, but it is going up a bit. I was very hungry yesterday and need the cheesecake in my refrigerator to go away. My SIL made it and left most of it here. My husband could easily eat slivers for days or ignore it completely- I can't.
My face is still kind of lumpy and there are residual bruises but it does improve daily. Cheekbones are the most swollen so I look a little Slavic (to me anyway). I also have something weird going on with the stitches behind one ear (sort of in my hair, so maybe they are just partially dissolved/out). I can't believe that doctors say that you can go back to work in 2 weeks, without warning of how much makeup would be required to look normal. I suppose if I had long hair, wore a turtleneck and was used to troweling makeup on I'd look normal, but otherwise not.
I've had two long days in a row working with essentially no breaks, but did well though I am very tired afterwards and sleep really soundly at night. Last night I started on my back with the wedge pillow as usual, but was able to sleep for a while on my side (difficult with face and ear soreness) and for a couple of hours with just a pillow under my knees (no wedge). DH might be able to return to the room soon (we have a queen bed so wedge takes too much of the bed for him to be comfortable)!
Have a great skinny day!

Wt 228 down one. Calories 1516 went off the rails on nuts and yogurt and quest bar.
Grinding buffing the concrete was way too many steps. (He types with heating pad on his back) And DS#1 did most of the work yesterday. Almost done with half of it. I will give it a rest today as I need to drive to Little Rock doctor's offices to pick up meds. And DS#1 needs to take his dogs to the vet.
Maybe we will move the kitchen out to the airstream when we get back from Little Rock. We need to find some boxes for the rest of it.
Liz, the year is always hard for me to switch. Wait a week and it will be February. Time is zipping along.

Yes, time does seem to go faster as we get older. The concrete sounds like a lot of work - lucky that you have DS to help. Good luck getting it finished Dave.

Good morning ! 134...back to the upper end of the next range down. Lots of snow and ice yesterday. Shoveling and chopping is much easier in the midst of boot camp, but still kicked my butt a bit. There are a lot of "all you can eat" specials advertised on TV right now (IHOP, Olive Garden). I'm seeing a strengthening shift from envy to disbelief... much like my buffet mentality. I know that as an obese woman, I lived for such opportunities to fill myself up. I am so grateful for my sleeve, which has challenged me to rethink what kind of "full" my mind/body/spirit needs to optimize my balance and health. I finally am beginning to understand food has little to do with it.
Enjoy noticing the power of the shifts we are all working so hard to achieve.

Funny you mention Olive Garden - we went there last night and DH and DS's #2 and #3 all ordered endless pasta. Only DH got 2nds on the pasta, the sons even brought some home but did eat tons of breadsticks while at the restaurant. As for me, I had 1 breadstick (wasn't even very good), one bowl of minestrone soup and 2 bites of pasta with meat sauce. I brought almost the whole order of pasta home with me to give to DS #1 who had pep band and couldn't join us! I was stuffed!
135 OTD, not where I want to be. I've been maintaining pretty well (just a 2 lb. flux up or down) problem is that I'm maintaining 10 lbs. above where I would like to maintain. Gonna skip the after work party tonight (pizza and drinks) and come home to something protein forward with a veggie!
Have a good day friends!
Paula
123's today.
Buffets: There is nothing like a buffet to highlight how much I have changed my eating thinking. Even after huge dinners, people all around me filled their dinner-sized plates with four desserts. I observe without judgement. I noticed that tinier folks filled their plates but didn't eat most.
Finding my full: maybe that is the theme for 2017? I think it is similar to finding peace and other various slogans. As Diane said, it isn't just about the food. I'm enjoying (mostly) trying new things or doing old things a different way.
Finding a new normal: so glad to have this group to nudge me this way and that.
On regain: At the employee party, there was a spouse that I had seen for lipids about 10 years ago. My last appt with him was a follow up after his RNY. It was a celebration of the normalization of all of his biometrics. It looks like he gained most if not all of his weight back. I felt guilty for even thinking about that...I am sure many are watching me for the same.
Guard your skinny!

Regain is my biggest fear. It makes me so sad to see friends and acquaintances regain and I know some people are looking for it.
There was a guy I don't know at our support group meeting last night, who walked out during talk about regain and fears of stretching your sleeve saying that he did (stretched out his sleeve and regained all of his weight). It was so sad. Nobody went after him. I saw him talking to the doctor earlier and thought he was a pre-op. I think everyone was in shock or something, because it is a very caring group of people, but nobody moved or said anything.
Liz, you are blonde and fair skinned. That alone will add time to your healing after facial PS. I am assuming your surgeon told you that, yes? It took my mom about 4 weeks to look really like herself again. I, being more olive complected, looked pretty good after about 10 days when I had my eyes done.
