Greetings Special People

Welcome Jake's Mama. You've come to the right place for a daily dose of motivation and support. Maintenance requires effort and vigilance. But you know that. So hand out here and it will help you be accountable to yourself.

Well 132.5 today. Its in the goal range my doctor set but I liked being 125. This last year I started having issues with "eating events" where I couldn't pass up stuff so easily. I even asked to be off art opening duty as there were always chips and dip right by the cash register where I worked.

We are having our one sunny day of the month I think. It has rained so much and there is a lot of flooding but not in my haunts, thankfully. My biggest ***** for the day is I only had instant coffee available. Oh poor me.

Liz, thinking of you as you are right in the middle of it right now. Sending good vibes.

Finally got a good nights sleep and slept in late until the dogs had a wrestling match on the bed.

Roasted red pepper soup for dinner last night. Find myself craving soup on these cold days even though it gets up to 50 in the day time here. Weather wimp I am.

Well take care all. Stay warm, dry and well.  Diane S

Oh how we depend on technology ! High winds and icy conditions meant several power losses last night and I woke up with no cable/internet ! No morning news or logging in here and My Fitness Pal ! Worked six hours today, and when I got home, both have been restored.

136's today. My retirement dinner is tomorrow night , so hopefully I'll be so overcome, eating is secondary. I'm working too much, but it will slow down and I have to work at remembering I am transitioning out. Still loving it, and eating has been on plan... exercise off the charts..!

Late check in today. (I've been writing this post on and off since about 8:30! Darn wor****eps getting in the way! LOL)

Liz, all the best wishes for today. I thought about you early this morning and asked the universe to watch over you.

Welcome, Jakesmomma!

Weight exactly the same as yesterday. That is so unusual for me that it made me smile. I always bounce around - even when my weight is fairly stable. I do the up and down thing of anywhere from .5 to 3 pounds most of the time.

I find that sitting down each morning as I get to school and have a few minutes of quiet to create a "to do" list is having a positive and grounding effect. The list is helping me focus and feel accomplished in getting things done. As silly as it may seem the positive feelings accomplishing the few little things on my list spills over into my food/weight life. This morning after I completed my list I got my spelling planned through the first week of March. That item is off my plate now for the next 6 weeks, which in turn means less stress. The less stress I have in my day to day life the more I am able to focus on my personal/emotional/spiritual needs. That focus on my needs is helping me eat well and remain on a plan that promotes weight loss. Next on the docket is to spend 10 minutes at the end of the day reflecting in a journal on how the day went food wise, goal wise, and seeing if I need to improve in any areas.

I recently read that the concept of a habit being made in 21 days is not based on research. Evidently, it takes a minimum of 66 days to form a new habit. For some a habit may take more than 200 days to take hold. This makes so much sense to me. Knowing this I can accept my lack of successful behavior change. You know, I've never strung together an entire year of successful, healthy eating. While committing to a goal of a full year of healthy eating seems ominous today, I can see how committing to 30 days at a time until I've reached a full year would be a great long term goal. Remember, healthy eating happens over time. It does not mean eating perfectly balanced, healthy meals 100% of the time. There is room for dietary fluctuation - treats, higher carb meals, etc... (dare I say ice cream or cookies???) Anyhow, I'm committing today to eat in an overall healthy manner for the rest of January. That includes the dog show weekend at the end of the month!

Happy Hump Day.
