116 - I was up at 4:30 am after a night of tossing and turning. I guess I'll be doing a lot of "sleeping" today while I have my PS - surgery is supposed to take 6 hours. The surgeon marked my belly and I got all my medications last night (I also took some very unflattering before pictures). We are leaving in about 2 hours for the hospital.  Boy, I wish I could have some coffee!

Have a wonderful hump day! I'll probably check in at some point tomorrow.

All the best for surgery!

Walked only 4872 and calories were too high.

Another day to live and learn.

Thanks - just waiting in the surgical center waiting room. I think I am more nervous about the recovery period for this surgery vs WLS. I was more worried about the long term when anticipating that.

133.8. I did get on that treadmill yesterday! Not as heavy of a workout as I was doing previously but a good start to moving more!

As much as I hate it, I need to go back in weight loss mode! I am 4 lbs. above goal and almost 10 lbs. above my Goldilocks weight of 123. The real deciding factor however was that my skinniest of pants are not fitting well, enough so that I had to choose something different to wear to work but not bad enough that I have to dig into the box o' bigger clothes. I saved some size 6's - 8's in a box "just in case", especially since I was only in them for a month or so.

Going to try to keep my calories around 1000-1200 and try to continue to get regular exercise! My Fitness Pal will be my friend again!

Good for you for knowing and taking action!

Thanks for posting.  It normalizes a bit of gain and how to rationally address.  Time flies, it won't take all that long.

Hi Guys,

123's.  I had hoped to sneak up to the mountain before work (it is my late-start day) but the passes are closed for avalanche control.  So that is that and it is just as well.  There is much to do here in the lowlands.

Being on the mountain means never even thinking about doing just one more thing.  It is just me, the mountain and the activity of the moment.  I need to practice that sort of thinking down here.

It is hard to change that pattern of thinking. Even as I pause my typing to consider closing the to-do list, my brain instead adds another task.

Liz, I'm thinking about you!  Hope you are able to rest with some comfort.

Find your mountain today,

Shel

Good morning all!  Have been a lurker for some time and have really enjoyed all the sharing from this group.  It's very motivating. So I will share a little about me:  Had surgery 2/16/15 so coming up on the two year mark.  Initial weight 217  at 5'5" on day of surgery, had lost around 20 preop,  Surgery was self pay in Mexico.  Lost down to 134 by October of 2016, never go to goal,  maintained for a while then started gaining a bit since last April.  Was about 142 on Easter last year.  Gained about 1 pound a month after that until last week I weighed in at 150.6.  I had started to notice a difference in the way clothes had fit over this time period but it was so gradual, it just sort of crept up.  Wasn't weighing daily-BIG MISTAKE.  I do love the accountability of daily weighing and posting that weight that you all do.  Had I been participating instead of just occasionally lurking it wouldn't have taken me 15 pounds to wake up.

I did develop anemia sometime along this journey and from around April until beginning of August  was feeling run down, not well and mildly depressed.  Was eating crushed ice from the ninja, having trouble sleeping, no stamina and kept going to urgent care not knowing what the problem is.  Finally got a H&H and hemoglobin was 6.8, ferritin 2, got some iron infusions and blood transfusion and have been feeling consistently better ever since.  Hematologist thinks it was possibly some malabsorbtion from the VSG, which is not common.  I think I was possibly taking too many tums around the time of meals and causing iron not to be absorbed. Anyway, was lucky and it has not yet recurred and follow up is in February.  I do think just feeling so exhausted all the time caused me to do no activity and possibly eat more to try and get some energy.

The  main reason for the regain though is grazing and snacking.  I have adequate restriction and am very limited on how much I can eat at one time but the grazing halted weight loss as well as causing regain.  Ultimately my goal is 130.

Part of the reason I did not feel I had to weigh daily or be religious about counting calories because I was hopeful that somehow I would turn into a "normal" eater, that the surgery would cause me to have a decreased appetite and that was all that was necessary.  The hard truth is that if I didn't have problems with overeating or eating for reasons other than hunger I wouldn't have gotten obese. I have to change my mind about the goal of just being able to just naturally maintaining weight loss without any effort or thought.  This has not happened and I must start to try to consider meal and exercise planning and some calorie counting part of self care like showering, sleeping or brushing my teeth.

Sending good thoughts for a speedy recovery to Liz and finishing recovery to Paula and thanks to all of you for sharing your techniques to maintain and your journeys.

Looking forward to being an active participant in this group!
