VSG Maintenance Group
Sunday January 8
116.5 - still holding (I wi**** was an OTD weight - I am a little OCD that way).
There is about 18 inches of snow on the ground here on Cape Cod Mass after storms the last couple of days. I shoveled for the dogs at 6 am this morning. It was COLD (15 degrees), but dogs can get in and out to do their business now. Last night DS was taking them out through the basement so they could go under the deck stairs. That's not their normal route so they weren't happy about that, so they are pleased now.
Got all the Christmas decorations down and put away yesterday DH and DS helped so it was done by early afternoon. I'll miss the lights but I'm glad that is done for the year.
Have an enjoyable Sunday!

134.4 - down just a smidge.
As predicted, very little steps in yesterday. Concert was good though. Came home and stayed up to midnigh****ching a sappy movie all by myself!
I'm really having a problem with inflamed sutures under my skin on the right side post arm lift. Right now I don't have an opening for them to escape but the arm is red, swollen and painful. They did give me a prescription for antibiotics which they told me not to fill if the redness went down (they circled the area with a sharpie). The conundrum is that the total area of redness has gone down but a small area is even a deeper red and more painful. That area is swollen and blanches if I press on it. I may just fill the Rx today and see if it helps any or I guess I could just try some ibuprofen to see if it makes it less inflamed? Resident Pharmacist Shel, which do you recommend?
On top of that I have my period and my belly is cramping. For goodness sakes, I'll be 52 in May, this can stop already! Luckily my periods are few and far between these days and had been quite light the last year or so but I am more than ready to be done with them. My baby making days are long done!
Church this morning and then?????? If belly is feeling better I would like to get some exercise in!
Paula
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I stopped having periods at about 45 - pros and cons. I don't miss the period, but the dry skin and hair growing where it didn't use to is definitely not a plus.

That type of skin inflammation (deeper red/swollen) isn't helped by nsaids so I would skip ibuprofen for that. However, As an anti-prosteglandin they are helpful for period cramping. But, I don't know if that is bad enough for you to use an nsaid considering vsg.
At my last appt, my surgeon forgot for a minute that I was VSG so she was giving me the rundown on RNY precautions whi*****luded no nsaids. I interjected, saying that I was VSG, and she walked it all back and specifically said she isn't worried at all about occasional nsaid use in VSG patient. Again, I wasn't even asking about it, that was her usual VSG patter. I still haven't used NSAIDs for anything but pretty much never have need for pain meds, anyway.
Hope you feel better soon. Hearing your story makes me realize that I really can't have skin surgery on my lymphedema arm......sort of considering it in the other arm, tho. Which might be weird. But no weirder than mastectomy tattoo which is also under consideration
whew! I need a nap after all that. Or, maybe less caffeine.

122's
xcountry skied yesterday -- glorious
Carbon, I am glad you are on the upswing, get lots of rest.
Liz, does your car display tire pressures and if so does it bother you when they aren't perfectly matched? (I thought of you and your love of OTD as I added air yesterday --- my tires aren't used to sub-freezing weather in the lowlands.) Looking forward to your TT!
Have a fab day! Shel

Shel, I have to push a few buttons to see the tire pressure, but yes if I was looking at it and they were different it probably would drive me crazy. I'm not truly OCD, just some tendencies...

It was a NO POPCORN movie event for me yesterday!
Yes, that makes me happy! I mentioned to Ron that I was focused on not eating popcorn and left it at that. I knew I could manage. I just did. I asked him to get me a Coke Zero while I got our seats. He arrived with a jumbo tub of popcorn and a mega-sized soda. I ignored that popcorn as best I could, sipped the soda and focused on the movie. I also came armed with a Quest Bar, which I think helped a great deal. Once the popcorn was gone and the movie was more than half way done, I opened the Quest Bar and ate it in little bits.
I was rewarded for my good behavior by the scale going up a pound! LOL! My hamstrings are sore, so a little repair work is going on and that requires some extra water to do, so no worries. I was so pleased that my reaction at the scale was not a "DAMN IT", but rather I laughed and said to myself, "Daily fluctuation. It's okay. Keep on." Seriously, I did. I'm working on positivity. Did you know that of our ten and tens of thousands of individual thoughts each waking day that for most of us well over half are self negative thoughts? YIKES!!!! We must all work on changing that around.
The storm that was promised again last night on the news still has not materialized. It is very dark and cloudy, but there was very little rain last night and the wind was quite modest. I was geared up for a storm and feel sort of cheated. I like "weather". In my area of CA we don't get a lot of extreme and since it's never bitter cold here, it's always sort of fun. It's fun watching our creek swell over the banks and up the hill into the main part of our yard. In the wind the old oaks and creek willows sway and make music through their branches - and they are far enough away from the house that when the branches break and fall, they do no harm. (We keep the dogs in when it is windy enough to make the trees dance.)
Off to breakfast with my brother and dad. Looking forward to the visit with them both. Ron is still in bed, so I doubt he will join us! I wish I could sleep like he does!
Easy day planned for me today. I may go ahead a prep food for the week, though I still have a bit left over from last week's prep!
A Serene Sunday to all!
Congrats on a no popcorn movie. I think the power of a successful NO builds confidence for the next challenge. What a successful week -- your confidence even allowed you to laugh in the scale's face!
