116.5 - went back to planned eating yesterday and it worked (nice to know that a quick correction can do that). Daily weighing definitely has much value, once you get used to the fluctuations.
It is strange to be working today. I always used to take this week off from work. Last year I didn't because DS wasn't home for a visit until a few days into January (took time then) and because my WLS was coming. This year I'm not because of the upcoming plastic surgery. I've arranged for almost 2 weeks off because I have no idea how the TT will go, but will start back at work as soon as I'm able. Then I'll work from home for a few weeks until I'm presentable (and go to Florida during that time to close on the condo). I'm planning on working from Florida for 10-14 days in February after the closing and in early April when I go back to close up with my husband (he is staying in between with company). I have a feeling this will be the last time I am in a different place from DH until his Alzheimer's gets really bad, so I am feeling a little guilty about looking forward to having some time alone.
Speaking of condo, I just got a copy of the appraisal online from the bank and it has appraised at the purchase price, so I think we are good to go! The only wrinkle is that I already started the move from CDs to my checking for the down payment, so they might ask questions about that ($ in different locations than on mortgage app).
One funny thing about DH and Alzheimer's (maybe). DH has always despised cats. I grew up always having 1-2 of them, but he said from the outset that he was him or a cat (I didn't have one when I met him). So now he is saying that it might be nice to get a cat when the dogs are gone. WHAT? Anyway, the dogs probably have a little time left...
Have a wonderful day!

DianeS asked that I post this sparkly picture....
"my ruby slippers - aren't they grand!"
And I am reposting her pups just because I like them. And I wonder how they like those sparkly slippers.

121's today. It is my target-versary! Pretty thrilled that I am still at target one year later. Thank you Thank you Thank you to each of you for all of your insights and stories that have kept me in present during this journey.
Liz, sounds like you have a kitten in your future! It will be a nice companion for DH.
Devon, when I saw that picture I thought "what a handsome man" and "I bet his students love him." That snapshot oozes positive energy.
In yoga, they say that twists that stretch the side body help us detoxify. From exactly what toxins I am not sure but it includes foods and drinks that are delicious but perhaps not nourishing.
So, wring out those toxins, my skinny tribe!

Aaaaand, one more post: the NYT's followed newly RNY'd patients for a year
Long interesting article....I can only scan as I need to get out the door. But, this paragraph struck me as particularly amazing:
It has become clear that bariatric surgery changes the entire setting of a complex, interlocking system. There is no one place to tweak it. To show what is involved, Dr. Kaplan reports that surgery immediately alters the activity of more than 5,000 of the 22,000 genes in the human body.

Good job, Paula! You will get it turned around, I have no doubt!
I too had the desire to eat something in-between my usual intervals yesterday It is amazing how quickly those cravings come back so I am really interested to see how quickly that reverses as I work to get back intervals of at least 3 hours.

Good morning
such a busy three days. Two birthdays and of course Christmas. Food everywhere. Restriction still good but did not make wise choices. Virtually no walking as we have had snow!
More company arrives tomorrow. And sadly will be attending a funeral for a friend who died on Christmas Eve.
But onward we go. Lovely photos of trees and slippers and Kairk.
Good Morning!!! I'm relaxing in front of the fireplace with coffee. No one is up yet. I'm enjoying the alone time. I'm in a good place I think...mentally. I told my Mom on Christmas Day that I am sick and tired of the diet mentality. Sick of calories, carbs and protein. I haven't tracked since October and it's really been freeing. I gained what I lost back but then have maintained...I'm wondering if I can do what I'm doing and be happy on the inside and the outside. I'm remember those early days; being able to eat and then dial back and the weight come off overnight. It just doesn't happen that way for me anymore after 4.5 years. I am so grateful for the surgery and for all of you!
Liz...good luck with all the condo business and your surgery. It will be so worth it all. Hoping your husband has many good days there.
Devon...you exude happiness in that picture and you look great! I don't see plump at all. Maybe you need to do a side by side to see again how far you've come!
Diane...you're dogs are so cute! I'm bowing to you because you didn't eat cookies. Wish I could say the same. lol
Linda...Love the article you posted on marriage on FB! Hope your alone time serves you well.
Shel...love the red slippers! I have some Ugg slippers that Andy gave me last year that I adore.
Dave...one day at a time is all we can do. You're doing great!
Paula...I need to stop eating the 3 C's, too! After this week...heh!
I wish I could post a small pic like some of you. I need lessons!
Peace!
Those red slippers are DianeS's......I post her pictures for her. I would be happy to post yours, too.....or, if you have a mac I can walk you thru the steps of how I post pics to OH. I doubt that I do it the most efficient way but I get the job done.
