VSG Maintenance Group
Saturday December 10
I can't believe Christmas weekend is two weeks away. Still don't have anything for DS, as he has been trying out for jobs in Vermont (resort areas) and not provided any ideas. Hopefully he is home today and will give me some suggestions. I don't mind giving them checks as long as there is something for them to open. I'm doing better with ideas for DD's boyfriend and children!
117.75, even after going out for lunch and dinner yesterday. When I don't have alcohol or dessert, calories are as low as eating at home. And I have leftovers for at least another 4 days.
Going to a close friends new home for dinner tonight to celebrate her birthday and her husband getting out of the hospital after a week. He is the guy who was competing at the sand sculpture contest in Fort Myers. He scratched his leg while there and ended up with sepsis!
Enjoy your Saturday!

You are slaying this maintenance thing Liz! Good for you! Scary about your friend with sepsis - you just never know!
131 OTD today. Busy day ahead - need to go to the mall to pick up a Christmas gift, concert to attend with DS #1 this afternoon and maybe dinner out tonight. Church tomorrow. We are suppose to get a pretty good snow storm starting tonight into Sunday - up to 8 inches. I want to be in FL NOW!
Paula
A little snow is pretty - 8 inches not so much. Do you know when you'll be moving to Florida?

120's.
Snow and Sepsis. Double ick.
I am hosting my sister's family this year for Christmas. I am starting to look at desserts to make (vs buying.) Dangerous territory. I truly like occasional baking/creating. But just the process of planning out what to make, collecting ingredients, etc is a trigger. I'm looking at this as kind of a few times a year thing --- sort of like I look at whether desserts are "worth it" (and they rarely are) Am I just fooling myself?
The front page of OH has an article of stress. I happened to listen to a relatively short TED talk about stress, too.....very interesting stuff. How you frame it in your head may make you immune to deleterious affects on your body. (Less mortality!) Powerful stuff, esp when combined with mindfulness (also listened to a short TED on that.)
Embrace your skinny stress today. It's good for you.

I am thinking about modifying the old Forgotten Cookies recipe to bring for a Christmas dessert this year --

Well Helllooooooo to all you fabulous maintainers
131.5 today on the half dot. Raku firing scheduled for this afternoon and looks like there is no wind so thats good. And for the moment there is no rain though we are supposed to have it off and on for at least a week. Welcome to our winter.
Christmas plans here are so minimal its pathetic. We will go over to some friends house with other oddballs and have a great time. Gotta get gifts for the group of little stuff which ends up being Starbucks gift cards and stuff I can find at the gallery. Fuzzy socks and wine stoppers. Who has ideas for goofy little gifts that do not include chocolate?
Well I don't envy you snow people. I used to ski but those days are over and while it was originally due to fat, its now due to arthritic hands and reduced bone density. Don't want to break anything.
Liz, glad your friend is recovered from sepsis. Nasty stuff.
Nephew's birthday today and niece in a couple of days. Thankful for the Facebook reminders.
Thats about it. Remember that the holiday season is all about family and company and not about food. Diane S,
