gravy should taste like the meat, yet be enhanced by the caramelized fond.

^^^  exactly!

Halo Top is expensive but it was worth every penny for that type of situation!

205.  4 lbs. gone overnight?  It's the sick, thank God.  I hope the rest of the sick weight gain drops like that.  I had a rough morning but am feeling much, much better now.  Mornings are the worst with an upper respiratory infection so I anticipate/dread trouble tomorrow morning.

Funny you should mention gravy... my firm's cafeteria downstairs was gutted, remodeled and taken over by true professionals.  Solid salad bar, great options and today was a full Thanksgiving dinner for $5.  I thought about it all week seeing the advertisements everywhere and decided to get it with conditions -- no stuffing and very little gravy(nothing comes close to my gravy or stuffing so why bother), small portion of mashed potatoes (hey, it's a vegetable, right?) and extra veggies and it will be 2 lunches.  What a deal!  The server was so great giving me just what I wanted.  The gravy was not jarred and was pretty good, but still nowhere near as good as the gravy my dad taught me to make.

When we were kids, we would alternate holidays at my parents' house and my aunt and uncle's around the block.  Each family made their own stuffing and gravy because the kids were vicious about their superiority of their dad's gravy and stuffing.  My brother got in big trouble when he was really little for telling my aunt that their stuffing was like puke and the gravy had guts in it.  He was not wrong and we still refer to her cooking as puke and their gravy as gut gravy.  Ahhh, memories.

115 this morning. I don't like it so I must use that number to motivate me to do a little better. Gravy. Yummy. I've been known to add the odd package into the mix as well :(. Diane wishing you well with those scopes today.

A single day off to get some groceries and then a big day at work tomorrow which starts at 6 am for our annual 'Not Black Friday' sale. Crazy day but I'll finish early.

Not feeling or acting as connected as I need to be here, which is dangerous for me.  Love you all

Greetings Fine Friends

133 and so it goes. Didn't sleep much last night and not sure why. Just one of those nights I guess. So I slept in this morning which sets me behind all day long.

All the best Diane O and hope things go well with good outcome. And hope you are feeling better Joey. Being sick really sucks. And hey Carbon, be careful about those hills.

You are right Kairk, I need to track and get with the program. Its just that I am feeling old and sluggish and   know I should move around more.

One of our art gallery members is having a brain biopsy today looking for cancer. So once again, lets all count our blessings.

Hey I too am an aficionado of gravy. I always ended up having to make it so I learned to do it right. Not to thick and not too runny. Last year I cooked just a turkey breast in one of those cooking bags and wasn't sure what I would do for gravy. Turns out all the juices in the bag plus a can of chicken broth made excellent gravy.  Years ago this gourmet friend of mine used to put red wine in his gravy so it was purple looking. I don't think it added anything. And the heck with giblets. Those are dog treats.

So here's wishing everyone good gravy with no lumps.  Diane S

I don't like gravy much and can't make it (hmmm - maybe it's related).  Anyway probably a good thing I'm not cooking on Thanksgiving (traveling to FL)!
