VSG Maintenance Group
Monday the 14th
Good Morning !
145... a six pound shot up, with hollow leg acting up. Guess I have to wear the thigh high, that feels a bit better than a full leg cast. The compression level is higher, and it does go to mid-thigh.
Less... great to see you post !! So excited to hear about your therapy dog plans ! There are two basic directions... training your own dog or finding someone with a therapy dog who would volunteer with their partner regularly. Sadie and I would LOVE to volunteer a day a week in a school library ! Message me if you want to brainstorm specifics of training your own dog v. Seeking volunteer teams.
Stay the course, all !!!

Good morning! Monday is here (back to work). Can't wait until next week when I'll have 5.5 days off (taking an extra couple of days and going to a Florida over Thanksgiving). Now that I have picked a retirement date (end of 2017) I find it more difficult anticipating work (I'm okay once involved in my projects/meetings). I do have an infuriating thing going on with HR (which I am sworn to secrecy on while it is being investigated). Once done, I am going to have to do something to change the situation. That makes me even less thrilled about being in the office right now.
121 this morning - I apparently averaged out the damage done by Saturday eating by keeping calories very low and being active yesterday. Went to Zumba and had a wonderful walk on the beach with my "puppies" (they loved it). Also went to my WLS support group to make sure I didn't falter on my eating plan for the day. It was a better meeting than most - when I go to the ones on the Cape often I'm the one furthest along but we had a good mix last night. And I'm going to be in their annual "reveal" (patients who are either at goal or who have lost a lot of weight dress up and tell their stories). My first WLS meeting with this surgical group was that meeting last year! Now I have to find something dressy to wear and decide if I'm okay with the wrinkly arms showing.
"Stephanie", I love Janet Evanovich books too - I especially love listening to the audio version on a long commute. It makes me laugh out loud!

Wt 225 +3 off plan eating on Saturday at the wedding. Wedding pics revealed truths I didn't want to see. Gaining in my belly and face. First time since WLS I have had such a negative weight body image over caloric intake. I could blame it on the new meds, or the off plan eating but either way I have to become more strict with intake. Measure and weighing have been what works for me. Caving to the nuts and yogurt is showing even with 1300 cal.
Going to work harder, David.

125 this morning. Yoga'd yesterday but the focus was on toes, ankles and balance so it wasn't as active as usual. So many ways to torture the toes!!! Lots of steps.
Many years ago, when I knew that a caner diagnosis was imminent, I ordered my first kindle and my first books were Janice Evanovich's. Light, entertaining reads were exactly what I needed.
Diane, how is Sadie? All recovered from surgery?
It is a tough time of year to stay the course when so many others around us are throwing in the towel. So glad that I have you all to help me stay mindful of what I REALLY want.
Have a great start to the week!

Ocean, nice to see you sounding so chipper this morning, even will the fluid gain! Yay for you!
126.something this morning. Itching has improved a lot. Still using hydrocortisone cream and Benadryl and taking decreasing doses of prednisone but tomorrow will be my last day for the prednisone. Have follow-up with my PS too and hope to get some of the pokey stitches out!
LOL, "pokey stiches" is exactly how I described them, too. Even the PS would ask, do you have any pokies?

207. Been sick as a dog since Friday with a wicked upper respiratory infection. It feels like I have 5-10 pounds of sludge in my lungs, so I'm hoping this gain will drop when I'm feeling better. Cannot take off from work so I have to muscle through. So tired and beaten up. Funny how I reverted to childhood and missing my mom, even though she was the least sympathetic/man-up mom ever made. Still I made myself a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup for breakfast yesterday remembering my mom bringing me it when I was sick. It was hot and super salty and made me feel so much better. (I was aware enough to skip the saltines.)
Greetings Gifted Good People;
133 GRRRR. Back to eating beef jerky for lunch and skipping the cheese. Too much cheese has got to be the issue and anymore I worship the stuff.
Tesla is being an absolute brat. Dad Chip tried to jump into DH's lap but couldn't because Tesla had a hold of his collar! So funny. She is in her first heat cycle so the fun begins of keeping her away from bad boy dogs.
Years ago I had a little cairn terrier that was a therapy dog that I used to take to the mental hospital. She would even snuggle in bed with people. It was fun.My mom's main care giver has a therapy dog that sits in my mom's lap when they go for walks in the wheel chair.
Diane O so sorry you are floating in fluid. Wish there was a better fix for that. No fun. Ditto the pokey stitches,
Well, sounds like we are all in the winter doldrums a little. Might be time to watch some of our favorite goofy movies like Idiocracy or Mars Attack.
Back to paperwork on various issues for my mom. Diane S
