Sunday November 6 - Time Change!
So it is 6:20 and just getting light - so the time change doesn't even help in the morning. I get up in the dark and it will descend an hour earlier. I'm a person who NEEDS light so I find it depressing.
Holy Cannoli! I had a big bathroom day yesterday (usually have a "clean out" day once a week for some reason). I weigh 120.5 this morning! I'm approaching wedding day weight though I'm not actively trying to lose at this point.
Went to the gym yesterday (going once a week because no time or energy on weekdays). Will be doing Zumba today. I know that theoretically to get fit I should be going to the gym 3 times a week, but I don't see that happening until after I retire in 13 months. It still seems to have some benefit (I think...). I do walk the dogs briskly every day.
I hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

Good Morning !!
I love the early morning light ! After ten bags of leaves yesterday, I fell asleep before setting my clocks back, even though I thought about it multiple times during the day.
138 today... slid back in to my 134-139 range. If I do need surgery in addition to hernia repair, I still have a "buffer" if swallowing issues recur. I will not allow a PICC line again, and remain unwilling to consider a feeding tube.
Today's gems from "Eating Less...", which for me really means looking at addictive desire for certain foods as an automatic conditioned response. When I live with that desire passively and unconsciously, the neural pathway associated with the old behavior is fortified. It becomes more and more difficult to look beyond instant gratification. The power/ control comes with bringing addictive desire out onto the light and, first, seeing it as a pure and simple conditioned response... not "bad ", "weak", or "greedy". When I identify addictive desire and mindfully think about what the real issue is, I can make a conscious choice about whether to strengthen the old neural pathway by choosing to feed the desire, or whether a different choice would better serve my long term health goals. Neutral, objective process... choices are not good or bad. It's working for me.

124.6, guess my surgery fluid is gone. DH left for FL interview #2. Praying it goes well and that they might be a good fit for each other.
Still fatigued but that is to be expected at this point in the game. Will try to get those boys of mine to help out some around the house and yard. Im worthless for that right now. Nice to have my pupppies to keep me company on the couch.
Wishing you all a skinny week filled with joy!
Hello all!
139.0. Can't believe I came back from our two days at the indoor water park lighter. Historically those places have been an opportunity for me to eat like a pig and be ok with it. This time I had some nice treats balanced with good choices. Plus I was so active, swimming and running up the stairs to do more water slides with the kids. I never would have enjoyed it so much a year or two ago!
Today we are unpacking and need to go grocery shopping and do some food prep for the week. Going to make some refrigerator oatmeal jars and some sort of to be decided chicken dish. My son has a soccer game at 8:00 pm so will be out late. Will pack a quest bar so I don't want any snacks at the arena.
Tomorrow is one more bonus day off for me while the kids and hubby head back to school. Planning a long run, probably 6-7 miles.
Hope you all have a great day!!
Heather :)

126 today, an unexpectedly vigorous yoga class yesterday and good steps. Stayed up too late to make sure I got yogurt cooking. But, I did sleep 8 hours. Quite a rarity but I can't help but feel behind already.
I love the initial feel of sleep luxury in these early days of fall behind. But ultimately, as Liz noted, it doesn't matter that much to me in the long run. I will arrive at work in the dark and will frequently come home in the dark and that would be true whether the time changed or not.
Better get going or I won't get a good spot at yoga!

Greetings Glorious Good People
Well wadda ya know. Down to 132. Took the pup for a pretty long walk yesterday. "A dog walk a day keeps the blubber away". DH takes the boy dog Chip for a really long walk. Old girl Liza can't walk a block or so anymore.
Made lentil soup last night for supper with lots of veggies in it. Its relatively low cal and very comforting on a gloomy drizzly night. So far its dry today but we shall see.
Our winters are the rainy season but I hate the lack of light more than the rain. DH has a light box but I don't think he is using it much. Maybe I will swipe it.
Getting sick of cooking. We rarely go out to eat anymore. Those of you with an Instant Pot - would it be worth getting for a family of two sleevers? Crock pot seems hard to use for small portions.
Our football team got creamed yesterday. Oh well, its only a game.
Diane O I loved your remarks about the neuro pathways being at the root of cravings or binging. Its a concrete explanation that one can consciously focus on changing. Gonna try that.
Well, regardless of your political views, please vote. Take care. Diane S.
About the IP, I am not exactly sure how it would work for 2 portions but if you were ok with 4 portions I know that would work out. I am always hopeful that my family will eat some and if they don't, then (like Paula) I freeze the leftovers. Very handy for meats that I used to exclusively slow cook so that saves me some time. Also, I have tended to make chicken thighs plus various beans which has worked out well. It is also very good for bean-only dishes. And, I like doing ribs in it....I think you could easily make that a 2 person dish.
But, all in all, I have not given up the rest of my kitchen for the IP like it seems others have.

The Instant Pot is useful for a lot of things, but honestly, it is only a small part of my kitchen arsenal. I use the IP to make dog food (saves lots of time and is far, far easier to clean up!), hard boil eggs en masse for the dog's breakfasts (an egg a day keeps the vet at bay!), my yogurt, steel cut oats (does not save time, but no clean up and much creamier texture) and a few specific dinner dishes that are simmer type dishes - curries, stews, etc...
I like most of my meat grilled or nicely caramelized in a pan. The IP doesn't cut it on that front.
For the upcoming holidays.... if anyone is in charge of making mashed potatoes, the IP is hands down the best way to cook the russets before mashing. Give it a try. The starches don't leach out into boiling water leaving the starch in the potato making for a much creamier end product.
