I'm at 113 today.  Choices haven't been great but probably not calorically dense. The crappy Halloween treats are almost done in this house.

Needed to remind my family that a basic meal consists of  meat and veggie, not meat and carb. And no, tomato sauce with a few tomato chunks in it is not a veggie. I truly don't miss that way of eating!

Off to a medical appointment and later doing a shorter work shift for a VIP shopping party. So many interesting events/services there!

Sending all of you love and encouragement. Paula glad you're doing so well. Dave where are you?  Diane O. there's no reason to stay away, we love you no matter what.

202.  Undeserved upward fluctuation that should fall soon.

My job is very stressful, as is my life.  Whenever I think I'm managing, another straw gets thrown on this camel's back. I have not indulged in candy like in the past, other than a couple of tootsie pops and only had the one sliver of pumpkin pie without crust, despite being SURROUNDED by goodies.

I have to cover another attorney's phone, which does not sound like a big deal, but this attorney is OCD Big Time.  Someone always has to be watching her phone lines.  Her secretary is completely neurotic about it and is constantly interrupting me to tell me that she is going to the ladies' room, filing, going upstairs, or whatever! then interrupts again to tell me she's back.  It is assumed that I am not to leave my desk during that time, but that is always when a client comes by or I am forced to leave my desk. I should point out that I am a very experienced legal assistant with a huge workload, and not an entry-level receptionist.

My boss thinks it's ridiculous and laughs when I tell him I cannot go to the conference room because I am covering her phones and overrides her.  This co-worker has actually reprimanded me for calls being missed as if it is my fault.  I tell her I am doing the best I can but I have other responsibilities that come first.

The worst is covering during her lunch hour, because she goes at 12 and thinks nothing of going 20-25 minutes late.  I cannot wait till 1:00 or 1:30 to eat lunch, so I have been eating lunch at my desk and walking for my entire half hour lunch.  I cleared this with my boss, since I really do not enjoy eating at my desk, but it is made up to me by taking the full half hour for my walk.

Today, she left 25 minutes late, and I realized that it did not bother me, because I am looking forward to walking.

Maybe it is still bothering me, based upon the length of this rant.  :)

Hi all,

Not much to report. Got on the scale this morning. Weight remained stable over Halloween (as far as I know). I have not been productive in the bathroom for two days. I keeping my fingers crossed that today is the day.

Food was very good yesterday and the cravings were minimal in the afternoon. I do wish I understood the after dinner, emotional need to munch. It is so terribly common - even among "normies". I think I'm going to search and see if anyone has ever done a study on the emotional aspect of evening eating. I will let you know if I find anything worthwhile.

Linda, most North Americans of European decent are cut from the meat and potatoes cloth. I know I am. It's who we are and have been raised to be. That you have evolved into a person who thinks of meals as protein and vegetables is impressive. I am not that evolved yet. I will admit I still like to have about 2 oz of carbs at dinner.

For those of you who are several years out, about how much protein do you eat at each meal by weight? When you round out a meal with vegetables, do you know about the total volume of the meal you eat? I still stick to 3 oz of protein, ¼ cup vegetable and 2-3 TBS of a healthier starch (sweet potato, wild rice). I am curious how this compares to others.

Haven't weighed and measured for quite some time but my best guess is 3-4 oz meat (maybe up to 5 oz slightly softer proteins like fish? not sure) plus quarter to almost half cup cooked veg. Rarely room for carb, which isn't always included in our meals anyway. Total volume sounds similar to yours.

Greetings Great Ones

Not much to report here.132.5. Spending a lot of time  with the gallery computer (read: fighting with it) as new programs unstable and our printer is now toast. need to get the consultant in again.

Heather congrats on the races. Go for it. If you can run a 5k I should at least walk that far. I've been napping a lot lately and feeling run down. Maybe need some b-12.

Kairk there was a good article on night eating in the last OH newsletter. Might check it out.

Got rid of the Halloween candy yesterday. Took some to the senior center but they wouldn't let me leave unless I took some bread. So I took a couple of packages of nan bread. Then I went to the Family Assistance Center and gave them the bread and the rest of the candy. Its run by a church that grows a big garden and gives the food to the poor. A really good right down to the needy place. We also gave canned goods to high school kids who were collecting for the food bank on halloween. There is a fair amount of visible poverty and homelessness in our area but its also considered very desirable to share and not waste things. The native american medical center has a huge garden and gives veggies to members as a way to fight diabetes.  Lots of people around here have fruit trees so apples and pears appear at the studio often.

Joey, its such a waste of your time to cover phones for someone else. Wish there were a better way.

Well Paula, I can tell you are going to have a great result. Good for you. I have several friends who have done it with great eyes. Think of the fun you will have playing with new eye makeup.

Well I am gonna toss the butternut squash soup I got for Halloween. We don't like it. Back to eggs and turkey bacon tonight.  Diane S
