122.75 again this morning - Did well with exercise yesterday (Fitbit and dogs were happy).  Finishing the housecleaning today (I always split it into 2 days so it doesn't ruin the entire day).  I do like when it is clean, but getting there not so much.  I'm skipping the lower floor where DS is temporarily residing (that's his job).

Husband tried to help but tramped sneaker prints all over the bathroom floor.  I lost patience (not good).  I have to try and remember how difficult things are for him now.  He has a neuropsych evaluation on Wednesday (repeat of 2 years ago to assess changes).  That will help in defining his limitations, but I'm afraid they are going to take driving off the table and that will be extremely difficult for him, especially if it happens prior to my retirement at the end of next year.

Have a good day - The weather is supposed to be nice for much of the day here in Massachusetts.

Good morning everyone.

Diane:  am pondering 'power'.   This is a new concept for me.   My head clamours for sugar and gluten and as have mentioned before, for me, there is no moderation.   I admire people who can eat one square of chocolate but experience has taught me that I can't.   Too often though the flying food comes up to smack me right in the face and I open the mouth to let it just slide down.

however we carry on and on and on.

calories yesterday were 1589 ( not great) but steps were 9768 and that was good.   An hours walk up a good hill and that made me feel like things were getting back to normal after a summer of being in bed all to often dealing with pain.

we are promised sunshine today!!!!!!!

for those of us struggling with all that life hands us I hope that today is a good one.

Greetings, my fellow control freaks!

125 this morning.  Good steps yesterday and a bit of home yoga.  Also on the activity front,  I am working on the guest bedroom to make it more yoga-y for me.  As I look up from typing, I see the kitchen refrigerator plotting how it can move up there with me.   Me, the dogs and the refrigerator have always been a pack.  Breaking up is hard to do.

Liz, my heart goes out to you and DH.  So very difficult all the way around!  It is understandable to lose patience.  Save some kindness for yourself, too.

Seattle broke its all time record for rain in October.  It made me smile when Devon described getting rain after years of drought.  Even Buster has 2 water resistant coats and I am eyeing a 3rd for his Christmas present.

Love you all, find your bliss.

Shel

Aw, hell's bells! True confessions!

Yesterday was just a wonderful day, but my food really SUCKED! I did some marathon TV watching (on demand to catch up on some shows that I missed the first episodes. I will admit that I watched a number of Project Runway episodes because I've missed the first 7 episodes and even though it's crap reality tv, that show is one of my guilty pleasures. At least true talent is involved! Did you all catch last season when the super morbidly obese designer who specialized in plus sized clothing won???)  So, on the relaxation front yesterday was a big win. I haven't had such a lovely unproductive day since I don't know when!

At noon I also took a drive into the city with Auntie Kathryn and her friend Karen to pick up dog food (organic, frozen raw stuff). They have a routine - call in an order to Nick's Crispy Taco's and stop into The Candy Store on Russian Hill, and then pick up the dog food. Karen is a cop and kathryn a dispatcher. Karen ordered over $200 of candy to pick up and then bought more while we were there! The Candy Store is a little tiny store filled with shelves of glass jars of candy - all high end stuff. Well, damn it! The free samples were flying and I was really good until I saw PUMPKIN SPICE CHOCOLATE COVERED CARAMELS! I tried one and I went to heaven. The damn party in my mouth went into full swing and I was done. Then I thought what the hell and tried the chocolate covered toffee popcorn. I know what you all are thinking because I was thinking the same thing as I popped that popcorn in my mouth. In a moment of weakness I bought 4 oz of popcorn and a 1/2 pound of the pumpkin spice caramels. Good news is that the caramels made it home and into the freezer because on the way home I was thinking about how to salvage the situation. The popcorn got eaten, but I did share it with Kathryn and Karen and it was only 4 oz.

The sugar put me off my food for the rest of the day and I didn't eat another meal until after 8:00 pm. I barely had any water and expected to see a significant rise on the scale today. Not so. I'm down .2 of a pound.

Today it is rainy and windy. I have a client coming at 11:00. Then not much else planned for the day. Maybe some more relaxation is in order!

Here's the link to The Candy Store. It is an utterly charming little shop. The slide show will give you and idea of what it's like. The Candy Store

You are going to do spectacular!  But it is funny how we overwork because we now we have weeks of "rest" coming up!

Even if you aren't planning to use opioids (I know those people exist tho I am not one of them) I am hoping you have started some sort of bowel program.  :)

I use Miralax daily! Thanks! I usually need very little opioid, hoping that will be true this time as well. I know I needed it longer after my gallbladder surgery - that one was a bugger!

Greetings Gifted Ones

Well 132.5 again. Phoeey. Got up early (for me anyway) and spent the morning canning tomatoes with a friend. She has a super kitchen and a six burner stove but it was a workout for my gimpy fingers and feet. WE got about 25 quarts done so I will get a share when they are cooled down. She uses them for spaghetti sauce as her husband would eat that 7 days a week, but I use it for chili and soup.

Had a few last minute things to get at the store (bought one coke since we have one guest who only drinks that) and fresh veggies and one more bag of candy - Starburst which I hate.

Kairk I could practically taste the pumpkin chocolate candy  over the internet. Glad I am no where near that place although there are several excellent candy stores here that make their own chocolate and goodies.

Still wonder what I was smoking when I came up with the power musings. Must think more about this. Who is in charge, you or your refrigerator?

201.  My son-in-law came home from the rehab hospital yesterday.  He will have brain surgery after the new year, so my daughter will have a chance to breath for a little while.  My grandsons slept over, and then we ran all over gathering my sil's medications and supplies.  It was a lot of work and I was not able to stick to my "plans".  I did not eat lunch until 3, then dinner was pasta with sauce.  I have not had a solely carb meal in years.  It was not good for me and I will not do that again.  I had a protein bar before bed to compensate, but the damage was done.

Back on track today. ..mostly. There is so much food at work that the smell has permeated the whole office.  I went in to get some salad from the goodie table to mix with my tuna.  Someone always brings salad or vegetables, except today!  (And I brought fruit instead of veggies.) I took a sliver of pumpkin pie and skipped the crust, then I ate my plain tuna.  I don't feel bad about it.  All I wanted was something pumpkin.  There are so many variations of pumpkin desserts, so I went for the real stuff and now I can stay away from the rest.
