Daily Weighing - Thanks for Advice!

Diane S, it sounds like the benefit of weighing at home helps when you go to the doctor office (you can ignore the scary weight in clothes and with food on-board).

Seriously, I've always been afraid of the scale. ALWAYS! Which is why the most often I ever weighed was once a week (during my Weigh Watchers sessions). After surgery I only weighed once a month on my surgiversary. SO, based on everyone's encouragement I started daily weighing this morning. 124.25, under goal! Which kind of surprised me because I last weighed Friday morning and was .5 over goal. Over the weekend I ate a bit more than I thought I should (not terrible, but not as good as I thought I should have been). I did have brisk walks all days (except in pouring rain on Sunday). Yesterday I ate okay, but had a richer dinner than usual even if the portion size was ok (son is a chef and cooked). Enlightening to see my weight this morning...

BTW, I do need to keep the balance scale. Over the years the digital ones fluctuated or broke too often and I'd stop weighing. For my sanity and to keep my precise self appeased, I needed a scale I could ABSOLUTELY trust (cars with outside temperatures or speed that are off drive me nuts).

Thank you all for the input - with your help I'll get this maintenance thing down!

ps - originally I posted this as a reply to Diane S' last post, but then thought it should be its own topic?  Not sure of protocol...

Congrats on getting below goal. You will see lots of scale fluctuations from day to day, try not to get too hung up on them (easier said then done!). The overall trend is what is important. Kudos to you for being able to weigh once per week or once per month. I am way too scaled obsessed!

No problem posting a separate topic. Most of us just update our happenings on the general thread unless it is something big or a complete different topic being posted for discussion (i.e. - someone posts a link to an article for discussion or someone has some big personal news to share!). Either way we are an easy going group and nobody is going to get their undies in a bundle for not following "protocol" - not that we really have one!

woohoo!  Congratulations!

I'm glad you are posting!  (And have no worries about how/where you do it!) I have been in maintenance for less than a year so we can be newbies together.

Some people weigh everyday, but only record it on one certain day of the week. Keeps them in check, but doesn't make them so stressed. I record mine in one of those month to month pocket calendars that I keep in a drawer in the bathroom.
