RV'ing post WLS?

Hello all - someone pointed me to this group. I posted in general discussion a question about living full time in an RV post WLS. I haven't had mine yet and am scheduled to meet my surgeon next week. My hubby and I plan to go on the road full-time in a few years. I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts about how WLS has changed things for them in the RV life?

Thanks for letting me in your group!

Welcome to the group!

You are sure to hear more about RV and WLS from Linda who is dipping her toes into that lifestyle as we speak.  I will say, tho, that my family rented an RV in Alaska for 2 weeks earlier this summer.  I was initially worried about how it would go, but actually it was a non-issue.

It had a freezer, refrigerator, stovetop and oven.  If it was for longer it would have been easy to add an instant pot if I wanted.  I was able to eat my usual maintenance foods with no issues at all.  I would have done aok in the weight loss phase, as well.  I am pretty cheap (and renting the RV was expensive enough) so I ate from the food in the RV 99% of the time.  It would have felt quite different to me if I was eating most meals out.

Welcome Joy and congrats on your upcoming surgery !  Based on my experience, I'd say the lifestyle is very complementary, even in the weight loss phase, as long as you don't fall into the trap of seeing yourself as being in vacation mode. If you can see it as your 'normal' it should be no problem at all. All the best!

Good morning all

welcome Joy.   We will enjoy hearing your journey.

yesterday was a total train wreck and it too****il late last night ( after a lot of damage done ) to figure out why.   Today am entering semi-uncharted waters.   While have been before, there has been major talk and discussions and the what-if scenarios.  One of the persons involved is a very very negative person so trying to deal with them.......well let's just say I didn't.

Today's is a brand new day with better choices to be made.

Happy Friday.

I am planning on being full time in RV but in one location.  No traveling plans right now.  More of a tiny house type of thing. The only thing I can think of is as you lose weight you will have more room to move about.  I would have been crowded just to get into the bathroom with a extra 150 lbs.  I have lived in larger RV's before and can't really see a problem living in one after WLS.

Good luck on your journey.
