was just out a few minutes ago watching the night light show! Amazing!
Good food day, steps 7344. Knee giving grief especially after got tangled up in a chair. You know that is. You have a hurt finger and that's the one you always bang.
stay the course good people. We can and are doing this!
( great thrift find btw )
Good morning from the campground! No weight today as I'm not home. But pretty satisfied with my food choices and over 17,000 steps!! That included a 3.5 mile run in the morning.
When we camp we usually have pancakes and bacon at least one morning. This is something I've missed this summer so today came up with my alternative. I found a recipe on the Eggface website for pancakes made with cottage cheese! They were delicious! With the actual recipe and the sugar free syrup I used still too many carbs for every day but a wonderful treat with a couple slices of bacon. Nice to know that I don't have to miss out, just have to make things work for me and the old sleeve!
Thanks as always to all of you for sharing your ups and downs of the journey and supporting mine. Go be awesome today!!

I have alway meant to make those cottage cheese pancakes! Good review.
I tried turkey bacon for the first time in more than a decade. My local organic store was sampling and I was inspired because I saw DianeS use it. It was aok so I bought a pack for home BLT salads. (Just a review....I am not knocking your bacon of choice, no matter what it is)
Nice steps!

So the recipe I used called for the cottage cheese with pineapple mixed in. Next time I think use plain and save the extra carbs. It was plenty sweet with the SF syrup.
What type of turkey bacon did you use? I also haven't had turkey bacon in ages...mine this am was right off the pig!

Skipping the pineapple would be my preference, too.
Yes, right off the pig is normally how I do bacon, too. And, this turkey bacon won't fool you, even the guy giving out samples said it is an "acceptable" alternative. On that, I agree.
It is from Garrett Valley which looks like is in New Jersy so apparently a national brand. (I live in Washington state) Also in its favor is that it doesn't have additives. I had forgotten, or never realized, that you get more volume in each slice of turkey bacon because shrinkage is much less than pork. Volume = happiness in my book.

An iPhone on a message board can be a bit tricky for me.
Hello, everyone. I've been the busiest weak person that I know over the past couple of days. Ha! I'm actually getting out and exploring more than I have in a very long time. My MO had turned me into quite the hermit, sadly.
Yesterday, I went on a road trip with my son, who was looking for a new truck. We drive nearly 4 hours to look at this truck and the plan was for him to drive it back home, but he didn't love it and we just headed back home. It was such a grand day with him. He let me prowl in an antique shop and I bought and old punch bowl made of lime carnival glass that will be perfect for Christmas, so, the trip wasn't for naught.
I carried my food with me yesterday, but we also stopped to eat. It was my first time being in a restaurant since surgery. I was a little nervous, but so excited as well. I got some soft tilapi and maybe ate an ounce of it. I promptly asked for a box and loaded it up to take to DH for his dinner. Groceries are already soooo much cheaper and now I realize that so will be eating out. It was a grand day.
Wishing all of you a blessed day!
Happy Saturday,
No weight today, still in all my compression garments/sleeves. I did have my last drain removed yesterday so it is nice to have that bit of plastic out of me. But, now I worry about where all that fluid showing up on the scale.
I talked to the plastic surgeon about my weight being up 5-6 lbs since surgery (even tho she took 2.5 lbs off) and that my legs from ankles to thighs are generally bigger. I told her that I weigh daily because "that is what I do." I said that I didn't want my weight to get out of hand.
She said that the legs/extra weight could easily be from swelling that could persist for months. She confirmed that my torso compression garment likely pushes fluid here and there but it would particularly settle in legs. With all the drains out,my weight may go up just from that just because I clearly am not done producing. Sometimes this fluid finds it way out thru various seams. (Ick)
And then she added that part of her physical assessment at each appointment would include a noticing fat because that is what SHE does. She said that I don't have any extra fat at all and should not think about a calorie reducing diet at this time.
So, there it is, I am not to be focusing on that stupid scale number TOO much. I'll focus instead on making sure that I track walking and mindless eating as I move thru new CBT exercises.
Enough about all of that, I am sorry to be so Shel-centric. I will move out of my own head as we go to a memorial service for a 15 year old who perished in a car crash (the 16 year old driver also died. No drugs or alcohol, just excessive speed on a windy road) and a fund raiser for my burnt-out yoga studio.
Remember your intentions today :)
Shel

124s. I'm anticipating a bit of fluid bounce back being off Lasix, but so be it.
It is a bit after noon here, and I've already done all of the piddly yard work I could do before the heat and humidity got too oppressive. Ive had my first shower of the day, although, Devon, I really wanted to jump in the pool. I'm keeping the chlorine high, because I WILL make it in !!
I was able to get a fitting for my custom compression stockings Monday. I'm thrilled ! My Rx is for 2 knee high and one thigh high. The stockings will be a lot cooler than the wrap, and most importantly will get me back into all of my sneakers and shoes !
Discovered Dunkin Donuts cold brew today ! Eyes rolled back in my head with pleasure ! I'm having success with the CBT "head hunger" v. actual hunger awareness process. It is funny how we are all different. Greek yogurt and nuts elicit NO cravings in me. I'm fine if I stay out of simple carbs and sugar, and keep my carbs close to 100 or below. The minute I get into simple sugar, I crave crap carbs . Less often, if the crap carbs come first, I want the sugar too. If I have protein with either, the wild response is mitigated somewhat.
