I didn't drink a drop for 6 months post-VSG.  It was one of the many commitments I made to myself.  I'm really glad I did it.  I started adding it back in socially very very slowly.  I really felt the effects of a tiny bit of alcohol for a long time after that.  Slowly, I am back to tolerating it better.  I enjoy wine, a bit of a connisseur.  I'm more careful with it now than I was pre-VSG, but I travel the world and get access to lots of great local/regional stuff.  So it's hard to pass up the opportunity to enjoy so many types.  C'est la vie, I suppose.

Choices... this is all about choices.  We'll see if/how my choices change on my quest back to goal.

Glad you were able to do something easier on your knees.  I was thinking yoga would be easy on me LOL.  Wrong :)

Happy Skinny Saturday!

Weight the same.

My MIL's doctor's appointment took over 4 hours yesterday and I learned it is a good thing that I wasn't planning on going back to work next week.  I was physically spent and and didn't rebound for the rest of the day.  The lack of rebound surprised me.  I always rebound.

For MIL to start a new med to help with delusions, the family had to commit to keeping her out of alcohol.  DH went thru her apartment and found a total of 34 bottles of various liquor bottles.  Her fridge and freezer looked like she was stocked with lots of water and soda but it turned out that those were giant mixed drinks.

She just moved into this apartment within the last year so this was accumulated since then. MIL herself would have been purchasing a limited amount,  plus she has a couple of enablers who are vocal proponents of "quality of life" vs "safety."  I put that in quotes because I am sick and tired of that being applied to MIL when her sanity is practically evaporating before our eyes.  Quality of life my azz.

Off my soapbox.  David, you in particular are in my thoughts today --- I am going to do better myself just thinking about you.

Shel

Yikes on the alcohol stash!  Leads me to wonder if MIL may need supervised detox, so I suggest you watch for symptoms of physical withdrawal and insist on inpatient detox if she exhibits any.

Exactly!   I had asked if we could have hospitalization for monitoring during this time period but apparently that isn't a reason to admit someone.  Assisted living is looking in on her hourly.

She has always denied excessive drinking (tho there are those that dispute that) but with her memory loss she might be drinking more than she thinks because short term memory is so bad.  As for the excessive stash,  she also has excessive stashes of Tylenol, etc.....she forgets what she buys so she buys more.

What is somewhat comforting is that she has been in this particular facility for about 2 years and staff has never seen her exhibit slurred speech, altered gait, etc.  She visits the front desk peeps even at 1am with no signs of intoxication. So, we are HOPING that she won't have trouble with withdrawal..... besides being really angry.

Felicitations Fellow Former Fatties

Well 130.5 today. Think its because I didn't get the dog walks in. It makes such a difference. Had to get up early to call people in the midwest about getting my mom into assisted living. Its still gonna take some work. At least her crazy roommate now agrees its a good idea. Then had to work at the gallery and take calls explaining all this stuff to brother and SIL and niece. They live out there but crazy roommate is mean to them. And me. And everyone. Right now there are no spaces in assisted living wing but hopefully there will be soon.

Well I plan to go to the studio today and move some new projects along plus walk the pups and have people fuss over the little one. She has every bad habit in the book - barking, digging, chewing, pooping on the carpet etc but she is just so dang cute.

Shrimp and salad for dinner last night. Always a good option.

Get better all of you with health issues. Lets all celebrate libraries by reading a trashy novel that has nothing to do with weight control!  Diane S.
