Welcome, David. I am NOT a happy person at this moment. 147.4. Up 17 pounds. My leg is so swollen, the skin continues to split and leak. My leg throbs and actually feels like it could pop. Having my leg down (not elevated) adds throbbing to the picture. Am working with my PCP to adjust the oxycodone / oxycontin combination to a therapeutic pain management level. The first STAT appointment I could get with the best lymphedema team in the area is 07/25/16.

This came out of no where. I was having water retention issues, but had never been as physically active in my life. I know the weight is mostly fluid. I know, this too shall pass.

This is a great reminder to be grateful for every step we have taken. If I was faced with this challenge at 345....it would have seemed totally debilitating.

Can't wait to hear more puppy stories, PS triumphs, "sugar monster" wins, and examples of grabbing the brass ring and achieving continued personal growth. We are all stronger than any challenge we are faced with. Being a part of this wonderful family makes everything so much better.

Yes, I totally realize how addictive my narcotics are and how vulnerable I am right now. My PCP is prescribing in five day increments and seeing me for follow ups every five days, or sooner if needed.

Hey Diane,

When my LE in just my arm is on the upswing (so, not a full on attack) it is easy to see a 2-3 lb difference in scale.  One can only imagine what fluid retention in an entire leg would weigh.  Well, maybe one CAN imagine that it weighs 17 lbs!  I am glad you aren't stressing about the number.  Now, you can jus****ch your condition improve over time.

No worries about the narcotics, girl.  They are worthy of thoughtful management, but don't be afraid of utilizing --- except from the standpoint of constipation :)

I'm assuming you are getting help with wound management, right?  Gotta make sure you have all hands on deck!  So easy for a detail to get missed post hospitalization.  (You don't have to answer this....just wanted it on your radar in case it wasn't already.)

No surprise, but it sounds like you are managing better than most of us would.  And I have seen 300 lb folks with this exact issue.....they ARE debilitated, no doubt about it.  So glad that you have built such a strong physical (as well as mental) foundation.

Pet that Sadie, such a furry comfort.

Diane, I am so happy you are home and better. I am devastated for you over the weight gain. I understand the mental game that plays with our minds. It will pass though and you will come out the other side stronger. Yes, you are so lucky to be in great physical shape and strong in body and spirit.

Many years ago (almost 30) I had a severe allergic reaction to an unknown allergen. It was severe enough that I was treated in the ER twice over a couple of days, but not quite bad enough to be admitted. Due to the medications, one being a heavy dose of prednisone, and many bags of IV fluids I gained 15 pounds in 3 days. The skin on my feet split open and it was horribly painful to walk. Finally after the allergic reaction ran its course, I began to drop the weight. It took about 2 weeks for it to all go away, but it went away all on its own - I didn't have to "diet".

Don't you worry one bit about the narcotics! They are a necessary part of your healing process. Remember, we love you and are in your corner!

Thanks for the welcome amidst your pain.  Cellulitis is extremely painful. At least you back in the comfort of your own home.  As the antibiotics do their job the swelling, pain and scales will all return to normal. Hopefully soon.

Thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday!

For the first time ever, OH was blocked on my work computer yesterday.  My first thought was that the IT people have discovered that I am (gasp!) obese! Then, for some reason we had a power outage at home.

Lots of stress yesterday in terms of DD.  She seems great! Happy! Carefree!  I know better and we have some stuff looming that is going to be icky. This is not new but somehow it took the Happy out of my birthday.

I am not normally one to say F-it when it comes to eating (my overeating is stealthy and shrouded in denial) but I did say it yesterday, esp when it came to Costco bag of pistachios at work and birthday ice cream at home.  Feeling a bit bloated today :)

Lymphedema in my arm is on the upswing and so I plan on wearing a compression wrap pretty much 24/7 this weekend.  I did weigh but I am not going to post it because it includes gigantic wrap.

Oh, what the heck....it was 126.3 with the wrap.  I thought it important to weigh even tho I know I overate yesterday plus massive amounts of salt.   It is so easy to stop doing the basics when I know I have fallen off plan.  So, there it is.

As Carbon would say, onward!

Shel

PS Lesa, never had a chance to reply to your post the other day.  So glad you hit send.  You sure are cute when you are pissy! (to use your own term for yourself!)
