Absolutely - just happened to me, but it's a doable amount this time. Sure I wasn't where I wanted to be when I started to regain again, but life is life.

What I take serious issue with is so many people espousing that regain is an inevitable and expected part of the process. I read some vets on the boards warning people to lose extra weight in anticipation of "bounce back". I find that a great disservice to people who are still in weight loss mode and newly pre op.

I think that the truth is there are very few programs that teach people how to maintain lost weight and monitor the transition to a life of maintenance. Without that support many, many people experience regain for whatever reasons. I get it. I'm one of them.

I agree, too, that we learn to build upon our successes. While my learning curve, or being able to take action on what I learn, may be a bit slower than most, I think I am making steps in that direction.

Heck, even my surgeon told me to expect some regain (not your definition of regain). I was told that I could expect a 10 lb. gain over the first several years post-op and that is the reason he wanted me below the higher end of a normal BMI - he likes to see his patients around 21-22 and doesn't get at all concerned until they dip below 19. And even then he says "what are you going to do?" He wouldn't recommend more meals/snacks as he is stickler about 3 meals per day (no more then 300 calories each) with 2-3 shakes in between.
