Morning all
great travel photos both north and west. Thanks for posting. Kairk great insight.
have guests for a celebration of life weekend. Not great eating on my part and very little walking unless you count the steps between stove, sink and fridge.
Happy July 4th!!!!!!
Happy 4th!
Still in Alaska, where glaciered peaks (or 10) are rarely out of sight. Currently we are on the Kenai Peninsula. I find myself thinking I would like to come back sooner rather than later to experience more of this area. There are zillions of fabulous hikes I would like to sample.
>30,000 steps yesterday. Food was fine until the last 1.5 hours when I began grazing the cupboards.
Paula and Linda, you both are beautiful! Thank you for posting!

DH is loving all the photo ops! I will be raving about Alaska for a long time. But I am easily swayed by each new place I go. Love them all --- I can always imagine moving. Last year I was just as in love with Maine, Cape Cod and Boston. But usually my fantasies include being independently wealthy, or both my DH and I having jobs that could be managed remotely. None of that, is likely to happen, sadly. But, I can still dream.

Happy Independence Day my fine friends!
Had pizza last night for dinner and my restriction works just fine! Ate 1/6 of a medium pizza (one big slice) and wouldn't have been able to eat more even if I had wanted to.
Got quite the compliment the other day. Was talking with a condo neighbor about food restrictions (she had some too for medical reasons) and she said that she would have never had guessed that I had been heavy. I pass as a forever skinny instead of a former fatty! Kind of seems a bit like living a lie to tell you the truth! I had another (not so good feeling) situation happen about a month ago at work. We teach cardiovascular risk reduction classes as part of our rehab program - cholesterol reduction, stress management, blood pressure control, weight management, exercise, nutrition etc. That day's class was one of our Nutrition classes and I had a patient ask who was going to teach it. I said that I was and she said "oh, good - I once had an overweight dietician talk to me and I couldn't even listen to her". If that patient only knew! I doubt I teach the class any different now then I did 115 lbs. heavier but I guess it does affect credibility.
Have fun today! Protect those skinnies!
I'm part of the cardiac risk reduction team as well and done it at a variety of weights.
I am amazed at what trash overweight men will say about other overweight/MO people -- usually women. My appointments are all individual appointments and I have been told that I am easy to share personal information with. Sometimes people share things I would rather not hear.
One obese man said something like "I'm not like one of those fat cows---you know those women who just let themselves go." I summoned motivational interviewing: "so, I hear you saying that you haven't let yourself go, at least not like some people." He stared at me and then said he did have some things to work on.
Motivational interviewing wins but inwardly I was thinking "YOU sir, are a fat on the outside and on the inside!" Since I grew up on a cattle farm I refuse to slander cows for being fat :)
But, I think it cuts both ways --- I think there is a fair amount of MO that don't like talking lifestyle with someone with a BMI of 22. Very rarely, if it feels super right, I share I was their size not that long ago. I can feel some of their tension melt away.
Someday, there will be a conference on cardiac risk reduction that we both should attend!

160# I'm quite disappointed with the scale but not my eating. Trying to remove myself from the number and it's giving me the go around.
Not much happening today. We're grilling hamburgers and I'm making a sugar free lemon pie. (No bun or crust ). We can watch the fire works from our patio. Nice relaxing day. I should get a walk in but we'll see.
Happy 4th!!
Greetings Holiday Skinnies
Well I am still at 131. Today is probably not going to be a day of weight loss. Going to the usual friends for the pot luck pig out fest. We are supposed to bring our own meat to grill but I think I am going to take tuna salad for hubby and me. Two of our regular group of friends had a sort of "kerfuffle" last time and now one says she won't show up if the other is there. Jeez, is this high school or what?
Dug a piece of plastic out of puppy's mouth today. Nothing is safe. She tortures her dad by hanging on his collar all the time. Yesterday she got some kind of burrs on her from the yard. Now she is banging her water dish around. Has ripped a hole in her puppy bed. We should send her after ISIS.
So glad to see some return posters. Keep it up. I look forward to reading this stuff every day even though I don't have much maintenance advice.
Well, gotta make cheese crisps and walk some energy off the wild puppy. Diane S
You aren't giving your causal commentary on post VSG life nearly enough credit. Maybe that is the beauty of it, you don't even realize that your usual life IS the maintenance advise we need. Thank you so much!
