Paula,

Is the "junk" category something you get with MFP Premium?  I love that you're tracking that aspect and would love to do it, too!  Thanks for the info.

I am not Paula but I can answer your question.  This is a option in the free version.

You can change the names of your meals if you start on the My Home tab, then go to settings, then select Diary Settings from drop down.  I always do this on the laptop.  Have never tried to do it on a device.

It tickles my brain to look at my food differently.  And, totally subjective, right?

My meals are currently set at:

   -On Plan

-Whoa, on plan but too much

   -No nutrient value

   -Before bed

My biggest issues are with Whoa and Before Bed.

Sweet...thanks so much!  Didn't know I could do that!  I'll let you know how it translates to a device!

Nope, just plain ol' MFP. You can create any food category that you like.

New health food store opened near my work so I dropped in over the lunch hour.  Glad to see that the area can really support such a place.  Since I'm going to be on vacation, I wasn't able to buy much this time.  But I did get a cup of soup for lunch, and a couple of snack items.  One thing I bought to try is "The complete cookie."  Has anyone here tried it?  I just tried it, and it tastes better than a health food cookie with 16g of protein oughtta.  But I do have a couple complaints.  Although it's just one cookie, it's actually 2 servings at 220 calories each!  Wowza--that means you have to have the self-discipline to put away half a cookie or else you'll be spending 440 calories!  Secondly, the front label boasts 16g of protein--but that is not per serving size, that's per cookie--so you have to spend 440 calories to get yourself there.  Certainly with the calorie restriction I'm under right now, I cannot see this as a very good option.  And I'm not sure I will ever be able to eat half a cookie--c'mon!  So in reality I can only see this being a good idea if I had a higher maintenance calories, and maybe I'm subbing this for a breakfast muffin or something.  Although they don't have protein, when I want a cookie I think I'll opt for McDonald's, subway, or even panera at this calorie count!  I'll get my protein somewhere else.  Nice idea, but a dangerous one for me.  This is a splurge parading as health food.

And we are back to crazy serving sizes!  We are biologically driven to eat the whole stinkin' thing.  All of us: normies, MO, and us reformed MO.

Yep!  I wish they would make a smaller single-serving size, but then they couldn't sell it for as much.  My biggest gripe is that it would appear to be one serving size, and the boasting of the protein acts like it's one serving size, but then you read and realize it's 440 calories (2 servings, 220 calories each).  I don't think they should have it both ways--if you boast "16g protein) you should have to put 440 calories on it too.

But the thing is, I would pay more per weight to have it packaged in a Shel Serving Size.  But, I suppose it is just like the Costco pies, it doesn't make sense to have both sizes available for the manufacturer and the store.

Did you see the plans for new labeling requirements that go into place in 2018?  They will address some of the issues your raised.

I am excited that they are adding a line for "added sugar."  One expert said that one consumer group that will be shocked are those that shop at health food stores and pay a premium for food.   They are going to find that a lot of their "health foods" are sugar bombs.

Yeah, not really a health food at all. Do you like any of the protein bars. I enjoy at least 1 Quest bar a day!
