VSG Maintenance Group
Wednesday, May 25th
In the interest of transparency and accountability, I am going to post my daily weight and the total calories, calories from my "junk" category in MFP, macros and exercise from the previous day for the next week or so. You all don't have to read it, but I'm putting it out there for the world to see! 128.6, 1,532 calories, 465 from "junk", 149 G Carbs, 63 G Fats, 121 G Protein, 25 minutes of Boot Camp - should have been 30 - I forgot to do the cool-down! 8,085 steps.
Thank you all for the advice given, I really do appreciate it. I like Linda's advice about changing caloric levels slowly to see where your true number lies. How long should you stay at that level before making another change? I'm going to try to go back to around 1,500 daily calories and see where that gets me. I know that is a bigger jump, but obviously the bigger jump up to around 1,800 calories caught up with me and did so quite quickly and I don't want to linger at this level very long. I have a vacation coming up the end of June, first part of July and if I can go into that on the leaner side, that would be good!
Happy Hump Day!
Paula

It just never gets old reading about maintenance strategies and thinking about what to use now and what to apply another time.
And it is so easy, when in the zone, to coast on what I perceive are my usual successful rhythms of the last several months. But, in truth, it isn't truly coasting, but rather a gradual expansion. And, eventually (sooner, rather than later,) my body will expand, too :)
Anyway, Paula, good for you for putting the work into puzzling things out. My vacation is the same time as yours and it is also on my mind that I want to at least start it on the leaner side. So, for me, that is south of 125.
Happy Wednesday!
Shel

Good morning!
Thanks for sharing Paula and Shel! I resist tracking, though I try to do so in my head, but when it boils down to it, tracking is a powerful tool that is so useful. I need to start looking at using that tool more consistently.
I'm still sick. I went to the dr. yesterday and have bronchitis. Hoping the antibiotics kick in soon! Weight was the same as yesterday. My food and fluids were right on track yesterday. Trying to keep in mind what Kairk said about inflammation and water retention when ill, but it was very discouraging to get on the scale this morning.
Have a great day all!
Hugs, Mary
Gosh, hope you feel better, soon! Cuz then you got to get busy and post your dance video!
Crazy how that number on the scale wreaks havoc on our emotion even when we intellectually know better. I have generally gotten better at just being PO'd and then letting it go.
I agree with Devon, by the way, that illness makes can cause some water retention.

Paula, what foods do you put in your junk category? (I don't use MFP, so the category use is very new to me, and intriguing.)
Lost some of the water (and poop) that pushed the scale up yesterday. Down to 202. Ate a little chocolate yesterday that cost me 250 calories.
Sleep - not quite 4 solid hours, then a short nap from 5:45 to about 6:30.
Exercise non existent since hurting my back last week. Today is a week of lower back pain and discomfort, but it's now quite bearable.
Open House tomorrow night. Lots to do.
Happy Hump Day!
(11 more school days until summer vacation! Boy, do I need it.)
My junk category consists of higher carb, fat, sugar foods that offer little in nutrition - yesterday it was popcorn and chocolate, another day it might be cookies, chips or ice cream **** cream is rare but I do like to eat 120 calories coconut frozen fruit bars). Essentially, things I shouldn't be eating very much of!
Hi all,
Well our lives now revolve around Tesla who has becoming a little terror - likes to grab the edge of my bathrobe and be dragged around the room! Sure is cute and loving though.
Yesterday was annual physical and a long hard day. Besides that I had to do finance stuff for gallery and my mom with timing issues. Mom's new care service has some issues and we may have to change again. Too many unskilled people. More hours on the phone and just getting started today. Would rather just hug the puppy. The siders are here and being noisy and the fence with our neighbors is being repaired. Much commotion.
132.5 today. better than yesterdays number. Take care all. Diane S
Welcome to Tesla the Terror! Hope her hugs make dealing with your mom's situation more bearable! Not fun at all. Been there with my uncle. We ended up having to move him to CA so we could actually check in on his care. He's in a great assisted living facility now. He loves it and we are happy he is safe and well cared for. Any chance your mom would go into a care facility or hospice house?
