You beat me to it - yes, prolonged sleep deprivation can lead to our bodies hanging onto to pounds. So going without sleep extra dangerous for us on multiple fronts that set us up for 'bad behaviour'.

The research does not suggest 82 carbs would be high enough to trigger you. In my mind, there's no reason to eat 40 when you have enough calories to play with to get your protein in. But maybe that's just my thinking as it relates to me.

Yes, I did not feel triggered at all with that low number of calories. I don't usually feel a pull until the carbs are over 150 and in those 150 carbs must be some highly refined carbs to truly trigger me.

Yes, agree with Linda about weight hanging on with lack of sleep tho I can't cite a particular study to back that up.  It is just from my (sleep deprived) memory.

Yesterday I skipped my usual Monday yoga because I got about 5 hours sleep the night before.  I had my reasons but there always seems to be a reason.  I KNOW it effects cravings, food choices and general productivity even tho I generally feel ok.

So, my new (soft) rule is if I didn't get at least 6 hours of sleep I can't go to an activity class that night....I need to get home and get to bed.   It is harder for you with the puppies and all.

Got 7 hours last night so Tuesday night yoga is on!

I wonder if it has anything to do with when we lack adequate sleep our bodies to not function optimally and therefore are not as efficient at calorie burning. I'm grasping, but it makes sense.

Lack of sleep produces a stress response, which releases cortisol, whi*****reases water retention.  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it !!

I have no scientific proof, but I also believe little sleep can affect weight being held onto.  I experimented early on in weight loss mode, when I was losing almost daily, and weighed myslef during the night at various points to try to find out at what point the loss would register on the scale.  I can't remember the exact number of hours of sleep when it occurred, but I know that after about 4-5 hours it still hadn't gone down, but did after I'd gotten 6 or more hours of sleep.  Ok, I admit it, I'm a closet geek and like to know these things!  LOL  So, my very crude hypothesis is that one needs to get at least 6 hours or more of sleep in order to release the weight.

Devon, also, big kudo's for listening to our pushy member :) and getting rid of the Cowboy bark, which really did look good!

Greetings weight warriors

Yeah I know its not a good idea to think of this as a battle. Better to make peace with your body and take care of it rather than fight with it.  But some days it sure seems like an uphill struggle.  still at 131.5. Took the dog for the stroller ride yesterday and realizing today how much puppy proofing we gotta do. So not ready for puppy who arrives Monday.

Yeah I am sure lack of sleep makes you fat. Can't figure out why that would be but tv shows say its true. As if calories, protein, carbs, sugar and steps were not enough to worry about.

We had some ground beef last night that was Kobe beef.  It did seem better.  Since we eat small amounts I guess we cay pay steak prices for hamburger.

Tuesdays hubby eats lunch with his sister. Often brings home Thai leftovers. yum.

How much calcium does everybody take? Dr. C has me on 2000 units a day. That makes for 8 big fat pills per day. So sick of swallowing them all. Guess I could get chewable but thats a lot of stuff to chew. Yuck.

Tried to find the Kasik dog food. Would have to special order. Got some samples of other kinds.

Take care all.  Day one of my mother's new care service went ok but I am sure there will be bumps in the road.  diane s

I want Thai crispy duck salad now!  :)

I take 600 mg of calcium with 400IU of Vitamin D and the PA is fine with the calcium.  I did have to do a 12 week course of a weekly large dose of Vitamin D this winter, as my numbers had gone down.

Hope things continue to go smoothly for your mom Diane!

I take 1600 per day, plus a hefty dose of vitamin D3 - over 1000 IU per day. My PCP is a big believer in D3, so I take even more than my bariatric program recommends.

Puppy proof! Get it done because you know the puppy will find plenty more that needs puppy proofing that escaped your notice! I am amazed what my 6 find during their play sessions outside and in!
