Good Morning !

It sounds like we're all struggling a bit, but we're focusing on the next best steps.  I am 129.8 today. I could blame some of it on the lymphedema, but that wouldn't be the whole story. A couple of bites of French toast with real maple syrup turned into a half a piece laden with syrup. Sugar cravings activated and several additional off plan choices followed, which were not mindful or savored. Back on track today. Hopefully, my detox will be short.

Chuck visited this weekend and Sadie's surgery is this morning at 8, so being on the other side of those experiences will be wonderful.

Devon... it is interesting that you mentioned cognitive behavior therapy. I was just thinking that it may be time to restart that work, to solidify and move forward from my new location on the path of life.

Have a great, on plan day, all. I agree... this group is my reality check and my lifeline... my family of choice.

126.6 - quite the jump up and I don't have lymphedema to blame. Carby, salty, inactive day yesterday so I hope at least some of it is fluid retention! I would like to be on the lower end of my goal range going into next week - Mother's Day and my birthday = some planned indulgences - more for my b-day then for Mother's Day.

Diane, good thoughts for you and Sadie this morning. Hope the surgery goes well.

Morning everyone:

All the best for Sadie.

A much better day yesterday 880 calories but FITBIT states that I was moribund.  True.

Hope that everyone has a great Monday.

126.0 this morning, up again, tho, on the dot!  I truly wish I had enjoyed an extra 9000 calories to get this point over the last week.

But, like Diane O, this isn't ALL lymphedema.

My current magical thinking involves extra bites of this and that (granola, nuts) not counting because I am getting extra steps in these days.  And not just any steps, sometimes it is skipping which means a higher heart rate.  That counts, right?

There isn't a single neuron of my logical brain that believes in that above logic.  And, I didn't consciously connect the two until yesterday after I read Devon's comments about magical thinking. (Honestly, my first brain flash was "I don't do that" which I knew was magical thinking in itself.)

The next time my hand went into the granola, THERE IT WAS "I can afford this extra granola because I am going to end up with both yoga and a bunch of steps today."

That is old groove thinking. I have decades of proof that being very active never, ever, helped me with weight.  And tho I ate that granola (and more) anyway, I had become aware.

So no more groovy thinking for me --- and I am going to keep my hand out of extras today.  (I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.)

Have a great day!  Shel

When I read "pistol boots" I pictured the boots with revolver heels.  Google them and smile.

160.9#  Food on point.  However, not enough water yesterday as I didn't stop working in the yard to drink much.  Slamming the water today so hopefully I can slide into the 50's.

Those bites, licks and tastes (BLT) can add up...I need to be more mindful of that, too.

Let us know how Sadie is :)  How was the visit with Chuck?  Do you think the french toast was Chuckstress?

I hope everyone had a Happy Monday!!!!

Thanks for asking for an update, Lesa !  When I hadn't heard anything by 2 (estimated time for my call back) I did call, and the surgeon took my call. Sadie did well.. she was still in recovery and very groggy. Total tear in her left knee. Surgeon said there is some instability in her right knee, and she anticipates more surgery within the year.  Yes... the Chuck visit contributed to my eating choices.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.  I'm sorry to hear that more surgery may be expected.

I'm so sorry on both accounts!  Hope Sadie recovers better than they expect.

Had a lovely guilt free day of eating as I chose. Interestingly, I ate quite a bit less than I thought I would, but choices were carb heavy. My day ended with a planned dessert funeral. Talk about disordered thinking, right? But maybe not...because I chose my dessert thoughtfully (chocolate Gelato with a chocolate chip cookie) every satisfaction button wa**** Every single craving subsided. There was no need for a bite of this or that at the end of the night - just went to bed.

I was up to 202, which I'm guessing is jus****er since my calories were under 2000 for the day. Certainly not enough for a true gain.

Luckily, I was running late this morning and didn't even get a chance to see what the PTA put out for our Teacher Appreciation breakfast today. Whew! The entire week is planned around food here at school. There are three lunches planned (I got to order one, so it's a protein and veggie lunch), today's breakfast, and Wednesday is Bagel and Coffee day. While it's very kind and sweet of the PTA to do this for us, it is always a problematic week for me. Probably good that I chose this week to begin my dessert moratorium!

Keeping Sadie in my thoughts today!

I am not feeling thin today. Big surprise. Thank God, I'm not depressed, angry or disappointed in myself. I am really beginning to be able to identify my triggers and stressors and understand how those drive my eating behaviors. In a sense, this is a win, even if it comes at the expense of added pounds.

Wishing you all a Monday march on the straight and narrow path.
