Good Morning Fabulous Fit Friends!
122.7 this morning.
Carbon, may you find peace today.
About nuts: I also found peanuts ultimately irresistible no matter my good intentions. However, with any nut, I do better if with small pieces (chopped peanuts, toasted sliced almonds, etc) that I sprinkle on things. I also have the pre-portioned bags of almonds from trader joes. I keep wasabi whole almonds around because I literally will just eat 3 or 4 and then I am done.
Kairk: about SMO judgment. It is human to think like you did. I am sure that you have seen (maybe even tried?) that computer thing that flashes pictures of people and the user makes a snap judgment. It proved that all of us (no matter our own skin color) have a higher level of racism/bias that we would been comfortable predicting. I would guess that if it was testing attitudes about weight, the levels of judgment would be much, much higher (no matter our own weight.) And that would be just based on sight! Imagine if smells were included!
Anyhoo, you may have shown that you are human but you also showed your compassion by questioning your response. I think it is the second part that matters most. Kudos to Mary for noting that it might not even have anything to do with her weight! Mary, you are so evolved!
Anyway, I would have likely have thought the same as you. And, shortly after, my SMO/MO/Overweight sides would remind me of my own past.
Have a Skinny Saturday! Shel

123.4 - same. Stayed up too late getting things ready for the photo shoot tonight. The background the kids made is so distracting - don't think they will be pleased with the pics but it is THEIR Prom and it is what they wanted so I will just go with it. My artistic eye cringes though!
Devon, working in Health Care, I can tell you that people of all sizes can have funky smells, though I also know it is harder for a SMO person to clean themselves well. Women can also get a funky, musty smell when they have their periods - just walk into a bathroom where someone has desposited their used period supplies (the women here know what I am talking about!). Good for you for recognizing your thought process - you probably would have been just as offended if the person was skinny and smelly - odor is so powerful in eliciting feelings!
Shel - congrats on your successful presentation. I agree, if your spoken word is anything like your written word, you had NOTHING to worry about. Have you thought any more of when you will have Dexa retesting?
Lorna - thinking of you and hoping your heart is hurting a little less these days. We love you!
Linda, like Devon I was wondering what the nomadic life would do to your fashionista persona. I sure would miss that dressing room!
Not meaning to leave anyone out from personal shout outs - I appreciate each and every one of you. Those are just the things I remember reading about yesterday and didn't have time to comment on!
Have a super Saturday!

I think I will have the dexa repeat the week after I get home from Alaska and about a week before PS so I have an apples to apples comparison. You gave me something to think about when you mentioned maybe waiting until after PS. Ultimately, I will likely repeat yet again about 6 months later! Data geek! (I know you are too.)
My spoken word is a bit like my written word -- both a bit wordy.
I'm impressed with your artistic side....I don't have one.
So, what's your thoughts on your own PS timeline????

Still waiting on some quotes, especially what if anything insurance will pay for defib placement under new breast. I'm thinking news boobs and arms before the end of the year (have already paid out of pocket max with gallbladder surgery) then we will see about the rest. LBL with thighs won't be covered by insurance and I don't think I can get disability either so not sure timeframe for that.
I've been thinking about my PS timeline for next year. I'm about 8 pounds from my goal, but I would love to have my PS in February of next year, because I will be turning 60 then. I can't think of a better birthday present than to have my extra skin removed. Would 8-10 months be long enough to wait after hitting my goal. My doctor says yes, but some people tell me to wait at least a year. I guess it will be a good question for the PS's I talk to and do consults with.
Still not sure what I want done, other than a tummy tuck and/or LBL and a breast lift with back lift, because I HATE the skin under my arms that bubbles up over my bra strap.

Happy Saturday Skinny Family-
Taking a quick break from yard work to eat something. Devon, yes, my current target range is 126-131. To keep myself from Perseverating on tenths, especially with the lymphedema, my "sweet spot" is the 127's and 128's. If my weight is there.... I hop off the scale and put my weight out of my mind. If it is outside that range, I log my weight, to the tenth, in MFP and keep a closer watch, ready to make any adjustments in healthy fats. Even with my intermittent leg swelling issues, this will be my 4th week staying in that 127-128 zone.
Sounds like everyone has busy weekends planned, with eyes on the prize.

Hello my beautiful inside and out friends. I'm at 114 after a salty and less than healthy dinner last night. We are out of our usual routines right now so I'm going to need to be careful.
Such interesting convo about smells, obesity, judgment, guilt, etc. I'm reminded of a helpful perspective given to me when I began my social work career. As humans and as professionals it is normal, appropriate and necessary to formulate hypotheses about others. While judgements are deemed to be 'facts', hypotheses are deemed to be things that may be proven or disproven.
So we begin trying to make meaning of everything when we meet someone - how they look, what they say and do, and yes even how they smell. We will make assumptions about what the collective means and as long as we recognize that there can alternative explanations, we're golden. Devon you clearly did that so what your reaction was nothing to feel badly about. Bad smells are something we instinctively move away from and no harm was done by you.
We're heading out to the garage to continue putting the truck aka Mickey back together. No chance of us posers ever being off the grid, nor would we want to. At best, we will be glampers, but even that is just a means to an end for me, which is riding my motorcycle over longer periods of time.
As for the wardrobe, this will be my biggest challenge :( I actuallly dreamed about packing up my clothing last night! Living in small spaces is easy, but living with a small wardrobe will be tough. Not sure how I will fare.
So here's the plan. Over and above taking some of my jeans and motorcycle themed t-shirts, the wardrobe will consist largely of travel/outdoor wear - think brands like North Face, Patagonia, etc. I have a little bit of that stuff I've collected for motorcycle touring but will add a few more pieces to round things out. Will leave jewelry, handbags, most shoes packed up at home, but in exchange for that, I'm adding a couple more casual Pistil belts, duck boots for wearing around the campground in wet weather, etc.
And all the required riding gear, which takes up a lot of space because it is all designed to protect. Leather jackets and pants with internal armor, heated gear, rain gear, cooling gear, a couple pairs of boots, helmet (I only wear one, which is a top of the line full face modular with integrated communication system) and many different types of gloves. And the list goes on and on! It's all about protection while decreasing discomfort. We never ride without full protective gear.

Hi all you skinny fabulous peeps;
Still at 130.5 but will take it. Spent yesterday making phone calls and working at the art gallery. Lots of walking in circles and talking on the phone. The good news is I think we have a new care service lined up for my mom. Keep your skinny fingers crossed that the cranky roommate doesn't run this one off. Still some details to work out but seeing some light.
I was so drained last night that I came home, had a glass of wine, watched some tv, fell asleep and actually forgot to eat dinner. I really wasn't very hungry but I made a couple of eggs so I wouldn't eat at 3 am or something.
Speaking of bad smells, His Royal Highness dog Chip got skunked last night. It wasn't a full frontal assault- more like a sideswipe - but he had to have the treatment with Nature's Miracle. He was banished from the bedroom and had to sleep in his kennel in the living room. He didn't complain- it was like he knew he was bad news. He is now basking in the sun on the deck hopefully airing out further.
Ya know, some people just smell bad. There is a man at our studio who is not overweight and is highly educated, cultured and talented. I can tell when he is in the glaze room before I go in there because he reeks so bad. I don't use the potters wheels but he does and I don't know how the others stand it. We even put a note in our newsletter to observe personal hygiene since we work in close quarters. Didn't do much good. We just put up with it. He probably figures he will take a shower and clean up after he is finished at the clay studio where you get grubby anyway. Thats what I did as a student.
Here's to a weekend of good food choices and pleasant times with friends and family. We all do have a lot to be thankful for. diane s
