Lesa, I totally get what you're saying!  I had something going for me that first year, that I can't seem to recapture - a resolve and a positive attitude about moving forward in my life.  That resolve is still within me, but not nearly as potent as it was the first couple of years.  Continuing to come back does help to repleni**** though.

Hi all,

Had a rather good day yesterday: fantastically hard work out (I actually got my chest and arms to failure, which I don't manage too often), followed by a couple of miles on the ellipitical trainer, had a beautifully normal food day on my own terms, which meant no weighing, measuring or tracking, but stuck to healthy protein forward choices all day, except that ever since Ron suggested pizza last week it's been on my mind so we got an all meat pizza last night and I had a single slice and a cruciferous salad. Hit the spot and was totally satisfying (actually a single piece is almost too much with a salad - I knew there was no room for seconds whether I was tempted to or not!)

197.2 today.

Not sure if I'm ready to go back to tracking today, but I will play it by ear. I realize that while I'm not losing at the moment, I'm not gaining either. Just doing a do-si-do in my new range of 195-198 (the 199 the other day was an anomaly). It's really all good.

Little NSV yesterday - work a V neck T, ultra slim black jeans (that are loose fitting!) and pair of black boots. I felt totally comfortable (okay, I thought I looked good) out and about. this is good.

" V neck T, ultra slim black jeans (that are loose fitting!) and pair of black boots" - you can't post things like this and not include a pic. We want to see how hot you look too!

Hi all

What interesting discussion today. Diane Ocean I can't believe you shoveled snow for that long without a rest!  I remember those days and I could barely shovel for five minutes. Of course I weighed over 200 lbs.

Joey Jo your story about your aunt really touched me.  You really have had more than your share of rough times.  Don't be afraid of accepting help from others. Its their way of showing love and they do it gladly.

Another sunny day here. I have art gallery duty at 2 and gotta get cleaned up. Hope we get some visitors.  Otherwise its walking in circles and dusting.

Down to 130 today. Hope its not just some phantom fluid thing.

Last night I made Popeye Pie for dinner - ground beef, spinach and egg bake. Cut a serving same size each for hubby and me plus a few cherry tomatoes. Couldn't eat all of mine and took a nap. When I woke up, I noticed Hubby had not been able to eat all of his - we each had left the exact same sized blob on our plates.  So its true Dr. Cirangle gives everyone the same sleeve size! LOL.   Anyway, the dogs were the grateful beneficiaries of the uneaten portions. Smaller servings tonight.

Got some new flowers on impulse yesterday. I want to see our deck blooming with color.

Hmmm, maintenance.  I guess I see it as just another aspect of the journey of life. Good times and bad times are inevitable. Even Dr, Cirangle monitors his weight and food intake. He told me he had cut back his work hours some and was doing a lot more hiking around the city. says the extra activity keeps him at a steady weight.  I used to have this skinny friend and at lunch she would always say stuff like I am going to order a vegetable dish because we are having roast beef at home tonight. I always thought that was peculiar since I just ordered whatever I wanted and did the same at dinner later at home. Now I get it.   (I am secretly pleased that 15 years later she has put on a few pounds and I am skinnier than her).

Take care all and get and stay well.   diane s

Hi All!  Another busy day!  Feeling a little better today, and food was much better that it's been.

It's dance night tonight, which I always look forward to.  Got more recital tickets yesterday, and I'm getting excited.  We'll be practicing on stage 6 weeks from tonight!!

Thinking of you all!  Hugs, Mary

I'll be back later to read everything (and it looks great!) but wanted to post and run for the moment.

127.5 today, up another 2 lbs in one day (and yesterday was up 2 lbs the day before that)   This initially made me feel like screw-it!  But, I know that much of it is fluid.  And the words on this board help keep me steady.

Diane S commented recently something along the lines that we have replaced our focus on (over) eating with a focus on health/fitness.  I prefer that, too, so I will not truly follow thru with "screw-it!"  Tho, it was tempting.  I feel re-energized to watch the carbs, they have been too liberal in recent days.

Like BB, I fought the urge to wear fat, stretchy clothes and instead put on my skinniest jeans and put together an outfit that made me feel good.

Yesterday I had a big donut.  One would have to call it mindful because I drove about 3 miles to a particular donut shop because I heard the donuts were excellent AND huge.  But, Kairk has taught me that this, too, is part of me and is ok.

And, Mary, just the other day, commented that when she clamps down on her main trigger foods, the second bananas come into play (apologies if I am not quite remembering the phrasing.)  My second banana is bran buds!  How stupid is that?  My name is Shel and I am addicted to bran buds. I guess the only good thing about this is that it is a testament how PURE my house is that bran buds qualifies as a problem food.  I am mostly joking about that but the truth is that I had been roaming the house looking for something better than bran buds and there was nothing.

But, the big news is really that I am in Canada!  Vancouver BC, to be exact.  I'm traveling with 2 fifteen year old girls.  The distraction is good for me.  We are just here a couple of nights.

I'm going to check out the hotel amenities --- by that I mean exercise room and pool.  Have a great night!  Shel

Oh my goodness - bran buds as a trigger food!  You made me smile, but also think Shel!  I use them in my yogurt for crunch.  So far so good, but I'll keep my eye on those little buggers.  I remember someone at the OA convention in Boston, many years ago, talking about being able to binge on brussells sprouts.  I never thought something like that could happen, but it can.  Our addictive natures are always looking for that 'hit', and it is really easy to switch addictions or addictive substances without realizing it, if we're not being mindful.

I put them in yogurt but have no trouble just eating them out of hand, too.    And, by the way, I love me some roasted brussels sprouts! I think my real trigger is volume, not particular foods.
