Softball Season Starts Tonight

I joined my firm's softball team last year. I have been at this firm for almost 12 years and always wanted to play softball but always found a reason why I could not. I have been overweight my entire life, so it's not like I have not played softball while fat, but these are my co-workers. I was sure I would be embarrassed. My first hit, I started to run to first base, my feet were flipping out from under me like a cartoon and I almost went down on my face. I blame my sneakers, but I think it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. I bought cleats the next day.
This year, I am so excited to get out there to start playing tonight. My son is on our team, so no family time is lost. My grandkids asked if they need to get tickets to the game. :) I will get them front row tickets! I cannot imagine watching either one of my grandmothers play softball!!! They were so old.

I definitely kicked up some dust last night! I got a few good hits, got on base twice, caught a fly ball, threw two people out on base and had a ton of fun. More importantly, my son played well, ran instead of getting a runner and had a ton of fun.
There was an overweight woman on the other team who was gasping for breath on 2nd base and yelled to her teammates to help her lose 50 lbs. or teach her how to run. Later, while on base, I mentioned to her that I lost 108 lbs. and still cannot run, well it's like my legs are made of lead. She got very excited and asked if I minded telling her how I lost the weight. I said I don't mind at all and told her that I had gastric sleeve surgery almost two years ago and with diet and exercise, I lost the weight. She was so excited and kept congratulating me, but then I had to run to 2nd base. She thanked me at the end of the game.
