Wednesday March 30. Labour of love

BB, I am not a dietician or anything like that but I do regularly work on teams with dieticians.  Also, a fair amount of my job touches on lifestyle issues and I take my queues from what our dietitians say.

There might be people that eat out regularly without weight consequences but they are few and far between.  Regularly eating out and juicing has to be one of the top two pet peeves of the dietitians when they are sitting around together at lunch chit-chatting.  (By the way, I don't recommend going to lunch with dieticians....too much pressure!)

One of the issues is that people barely even recognize that they are eating out because they don't count things like swinging by Starbucks or stopping by the work cafeteria as eating out.  A shocking number of people consider the whole foods prepared food section as home cooking.  One of our dietitians tells patients that if the food didn't originate in their home kitchen, it is very likely "eating out."

Also, when I see a patient for a jump in cholesterol, by far the most common change is that they are now eating out regularly when in the past they didn't.  People that eat out even twice a week have significantly worse cholesterol numbers than people that eat out less than that.

If eating out has something to do with your higher maintenance number, I think that makes you more "normal" than not. I do think that our previously-obese status makes us pay a higher price than the normies.

As I was trying to think back to "what has changed??" I noticed that it has to be eating out!  I always packed my lunches for school.  I still did a lot of "bad" other things the past 5 years (like wine, or even candy), but the #1 noticeable change has been eating out.  So I think I may try eliminating this during the workweek entirely, at least while trying to lose weight, before trying to add back in occasionally during maintenance.  It's just too hard to eat right all the time at restaurants.  And sometimes even when I do, the calories add up quickly!

I feel like we are all in the virtual waiting room, listening for Kairk's footsteps to come give us status on Blue.

123.4 today.

Mark your calendars!  LBL now scheduled for July 18th!  I like focusing on targets so that is my new target to be in kick-butt shape.  I think I will have a 2nd dexa scan (already paid for as part of the original package) just before that to see if anything has changed.  I was lamenting the loss of fitness post LBL to my personal trainer.  He said that it really won't be all that much and that I will regain fitness faster than I think.

GO BLUE GO

and stay skinny y'all.

Good morning.  Even with the extra calories and eating supper out last night, to celebrate my youngest's Adoption Day, the scale was again at 204.5 this morning.  Trying to be more prudent with food choices today.

I also eat out a bit too much.  During weightloss and early maintenance, it wasn't really an issue.  However, as I get further out and can eat a bit more, the calories do tend to pile up faster when I eat out.  I try, most of the time, to order things that I know are within my range, but there are times when I say, 'it's ok, just this time', and order things I wouldn't typically eat, or are prepared in a higher calorie/carb manner than I would do at home, which can be a slippery slope.  In addfition, it's expensive to eat out, so cutting down will both reduce my weight and increase my wallet - a fabulous combination!

Hope Blue is doing well and her babes have been born.  Can't wait for an update from Devon!

Happy Wednesday all!

Hugs, Mary

Hi all

well we all can't wait to hear about the puppies. Chances are they were born and Devon is sleeping it off.

131.5 today. Up a pound for no known reason.  Calm day so good for a dog walk. Old girl in the doggie stroller.

I asked for puppy pictures. Breeder says they look like gophers.  I said I don't care if they look like turds, I want pictures!

Yeah my doctor told me he used to take benedryl to sleep but read that study and decided to stop.  Well try the old warm milk routine.  I watch tv with headphones so I don't wake up hubby. Love my stupid shows like Storage Wars , house hunters and 600 lb life. Nothing that shows fighting or serious problems.  My friend swears by a canabis tincture but gotta live where its legal.  There is "sleepy time" herb tea that might work.

Well gotta pre clean the house for the housekeeper.  We have far too much junk for two people.

Protect that skinny all.   diane s

P.S.    Brown Blonde I am a retired lawyer.  My weight was ok (not great) during law school because I walked a lot doing law clerk errands. Once I graduated and got a real job I did gain quite a bit of weight. It was stress, less activity plus having a few more bucks to buy myself a box of chocolates.  It can be rough the first few years. Hope you can find a good low cal coffee or tea as a break instead of hitting the candy store which is what I did.   I managed to lose 40 pounds and then started the cycle of losing and regaining that lasted the next 20 years.  GL.  diane s

Puppies!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick check in on a busy day.  I'm at 113 after another day of eating that was not as clean as I like to keep things. Today has been better but it ain't over yet! Lol

Spent several hours at the zoo, where I hadn't been in years. I wasn't dressed warmly enough so I must say I was glad to leave!  Got to see the new gorilla baby though, so all was not lost.

Preparing for an evening of visiting, so will sign of  congrats to Blue!!!!!
