Happy Tuesday!
Good Morning Sleeved Super Stars !!!
We each have moments of absolute brilliance, as well as opportunities to learn so we can move forward stronger and be more strategic. I feel so blessed that everyone is willing to share these experiences here ! In the past two days I've heard some great ideas for navigating holiday eating, witnessed a stellar last minute recovery from a drive-by dessert detour, and have been inspired by determination to "own it" and get right back on plan. It is a good thing that we all hit our ups and downs at different times, because that means there are always people there to reflect and be the voice of reason... lead the way.
Yesterday was a staff development day, and there were fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, replete with associated aroma aplenty at breaks. Inspired by Shel's "deep six", I told myself I had a chocolate chip Quest bar in my office and that if nourishing my body was my priority... the cookies were just sugary crap... I could work in the unplanned bar. I ended up feeling satisfied with 1/2 the bar.
Have a great day, all.

Truth in reporting update....
Hit a wall and grabbed a handful of jelly beans at one of the elementary schools. Came back to my office and did I eat the other half of the Quest bar from yesterday.... no ! Ate an additional 1/2 cup of peanut M & Ms. No thought. No control. Mindless old survival instinct. It happened, and I know I need to do some more work around Chuck.
I think I mentioned that his job offer three hours away had been rescinded because of a Veteran's Administration policy regarding having a defibrillator and potentially driving clients in a federal vehicle.... anyway, he filed a formal complaint of discrimination, went to mediation and won, and had his job offer reinstated. So, as soon as he gets paperwork through HR to transfer one VA to the other, we'll be living three hours apart. I'll get through this.

A momentary lapse that gave you insight into the level of stress and negative emotion you're feeling. Hugs

No worries about the candy, really very limited damage according to my internal calorie counter! You will learn from the experience and be better for it.
I am sorry that you have having to move thru such a painful process. I'm glad that he will be moving on sooner rather than later.

I too had a food victory yesterday and feel pretty dang good about it! Son #1 bought a bag of black jelly beans at 50% off yesterday (oh how I love black jelly beans) and they were sitting on the counter. I was still pretty hungry after dinner and was craving sugar. I asked him if I could have some and he said no. I needed to stop at the store (where he got the candy) anyway to pick up some yogurt and almonds. I had full intentions of buying myself some black jelly beans too but when I got to store I had a little talk with myself - I knew if I bought them I would eat way too many of them and they served no purpose nutritionally except that I like them. I left the last 3 bags the store had for someone else to buy. When I got home my son asked if I bought myself some jelly beans and I said no, I don't need them. He then offered me some of his and I declined but I did ask him to get them out of my sight! I had vanilla yogurt with sliced strawberries and almonds instead and it was delish!
Day off today. Need to make a Costco run (out of many of my staples). Will do something for exercise, probably yoga and boot camp again - I was sore for days after doing it last week - time to recondition my body to that type of work!
I bought a fun dress for my nieces wedding that will be Labor Day weekend. Spent too much money on it, but I really like it. Here is the dress http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/Bridesmaids/8101S/?p g=6 . I'm her personal attendant, not a bridesmaid, but I fell in love with the dress and the style is perfect for me - the one shoulder strap covers up my defibrillator and the bare shoulder blade shows off my new tattoo!
I love to hear how everyone is navigating this place we call maintenance. I learn new coping techniques every day and so appreciate the support from our little family.
Great job on walking away (multiple times) from the black jelly beans! Although, frankly, ew! But, that's just my tastebuds. Tis the season for strawberries and almonds in my household, too.
