Good Morning Hump Day Skinny Soulmates !

133's today !!  I am grateful for two major shifts for me. I navigated through a food fest sticking to a reasonable plan with choice built in. I was able to stay on plan after the carb and sugar laden cake, I think partly because all of the water I drank kept me full and distracted.

I had cataract surgery in both eyes four years ago, and had corrective lenses implanted. I have developed secondary cataracts, and have to have very minor laser surgery to remove cataracts and as a bonus, tweak my vision. First eye is today, so I will have most of the day to enjoy 70 degree weather... in upstate NY !!  It is also farm bag / fish monger day, so.... bonus !!!

Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! (Six months and one week.) AT GOAL month 8. Maintaining at goal range (139- 144) ~ four (4) years !!

Good luck with your eye surgery Diane! Enjoy the weather!

120.8 on the scale today. I went for an hour walk yesterday in the nice fresh air - felt good! Sushi last night was excellent! I think I could eat sushi every day! Work again today and bible study tonight. Plan to go on the treadmill at lunch if no lunch meeting. Girl Scout cookies will be delivered today. Will I resist?

I dunno, do you WANT to resist the GSC's? :)

Years ago, with a fresh cancer dx, I was able to change my brain so that I think "poison" when I look at processed foods/mass produced foods.  Do I really believe they are all poison?  No, and I certainly make exceptions.  But, it does keep me from buying GSC's and bringing them into the house.

I think it was Diane S who said the other day that she resists donuts in a bakery case (for example) by imagining a black fly flying around and landing on the food.

Or, if you WANT to have some GSC's (and, my dear friend, I think you might, and zero judgement from me!), maybe come up with a plan similar to Diane O's/Kairk's plan on how to navigate the food fest buffet.  You are getting somoas and thin mints, right?  Maybe preload them into MFP (today and upcoming days, if you want) and then be done with the internal negotiations.  Extras truly can go to the boys.

I really hate the internal negotiations....

Whenever I want foods I take them to the office, have one, and then usually by the time I return they have been eaten!  (This, however, did not work out for me during the cookie fiasco of Monday)

I've always enjoyed sashimi and rarely order nigiri style anymore.  I've never been fond of the rolls, which is probably a blessing because they seem to get bigger every year!

I am guessing that by now you've picked up those lovely GS cookies! They were actually the conversation at lunch today.

I don't think "Will I resist?" is the right question. I say that a bit tongue in cheek because reading it made me chuckle. Seriously, though, I think the question really is, "Do I want to eat some GS cookies?" Answer that one with 100% honesty and then decide what to do. If the answer is no, then you are done. If the answer is yes, then create the terms for eating the cookies that work for you. The important thing is that whatever your terms are they should never interfere with your internal peace about eating or exposure to a food. If your terms cause discord, then you really need to consider rethinking your terms.

Here's my issue with things like GS cookies and other items that come in sleeves and packages that contain multiple servings: I am highly aware of the presence of that food until it is ALL GONE. That doesn't mean I will fini**** all in one day, but I will eat some every day until the food is gone. That's just who I am. It fascinates me that Ron can leave an opened package of XXX and forget about it. Oh, that is so not part of my reality!

Enjoy your cookies, my friend!

Do I want the cookies? Of course I do. But for now I have decided to forego them because I know if I start with a few, I will want more and like you, the draw will be there until they are gone. That is what I experienced a few weeks ago with the jelly beans and I kept eating them just so they wouldn't be around anymore and keep calling me to them. I will put 2 boxes of GS cookies in the freezer (to serve when we host bible study) and the other 3 boxes can be shared by the boys (and hubby if he wants them). I resisted the GS cookies that are sitting on our break table at work and the 2 bags of Easter chocolates that were there too. Had a protein drink instead this afternoon. The thing is there is always going to be something tempting - I won't always say no, but it is just going to have to be a rare treat to say yes.

Morning all!

Kairk!!!!what a great write-up.   Nicely done!!

Fitbit giving grief.  Have done all their site recommends, at least those that could understand.   But according to the sputtering thing steps were 12,765.   Are they true steps or FB's pie-in-the-sky steps?

The rain continues but the birds are singing except for the one ounce fellow outside bedroom window who is bellowing.

Happy Middle Of the Week everyone.

Yes, Skinny Soulmates!  I like that moniker and alliteration to boot!

For many years, I have been looking forward to eventual cataract surgery so I can get corrective lenses implanted and paid for by insurance.  I am not normal.

Diane O, great job with the food fest and thank you for sharing how you navigated.  Both you and Paula referenced fish in your posts, I think I will pick up ahi poke for breakfast.

121.7 this morning.  Finally got back to yoga last night....delicious and my arm did fine.  Probably can't do a formal class for a couple more days but will definitely be doing more at home.  I am grateful that I can be active.  A couple of years ago, I was avoiding the stairs in my own house.

I have been (mostly) doing well with abolishing my extraneous nighttime nibbles and bites that were gradually sneaking back. There was an unfortunate incident that began with tasting sunflower seeds to see if they were stale and needed to be thrown out.  No, they were not stale.  I eventually just weighed some out, gobbled them down and logged it.

Onward!

Shel

Good morning all!

Great article on OH home page - written by and about someone we love!!!

I'm back down to 112 again today. It's good to see that number showing up more frequently again. Received the prebiotic fiber that is in Quest Bars.  Going to try it in my morning yogurt and also will try my hand at making a bar. More about that later.
