Good morning all,

Had a great walk at lunch yesterday and then a really good run last night. Feeling strong and healthy. Sore from doing weights the day before but strong and healthy :-).

-.7 to 148.4 this morning, I'm hoping it sticks this time. Getting closer and closer to my coveted 147 top red line.

Have a great day everyone Hugs! Lorna

126.2 today, still eeking up. I think I will lower my calories back down to 1200 since I am slowly rising again. I'm exercising, but not nearly to the level I was before my GB surgery. It will still be a few weeks before I can resume boot camp or other exercises that really work the core.

Haircut today, that always makes me feel better. Will meet new counselor for my son tonight. Hope he can work with this one. In the past he bails as soon as the therapy gets to the point where he needs to be accountable for some of what is going on in his life and do the work to make it better. He much prefers the blame game (on others) and would like a quick fix. Don't we all prefer a quick fix?

Good Morning, Peeps!

Lorna, strong body and weight trending the right direction.  Woohoo!

123.9 today with the arm wrap.  (I had to come back and edit my number because I am not used to typing one twenty THREE.  Even my fingers assume I am heavier than I am.)   Therapist thinks I will be out of the bulky wrap stage in a week-10 days.  That's less than what I thought so woohoo for me, too!

Find your own woohoo today!

Shel

PS, Paula, hats off to your son for even going to the counselor.  It boggles my mind to think how difficult it would be with teenage brain, teenage hormones plus possible bi-polar mixed in.  He is really pretty amazing.  I know you already know that just by the way you talk about your kids.

Good Morning Circle of Skinny  !!!

134.8 today. Big leg... wearing pants to better track the swelling.  Playing with best time of day to take the Lasix, and skipping every 4th or 5th day, rather than every other.

There have been so many great shares !  It is powerful when we think/process, incorporate what may align with our personal challenges, and then reflect them back to the group.  Mary... actions aligned with intentions is an example of something I had thrown out there a while back and it was what I needed to hear yesterday, and I wasn't getting it from myself.  Some other touchstones that I needed to hear were eating under our sleeves, the importance of  measuring and logging, and celebrating strong & healthy. I also revisited "Refuse to Regain", as I find something new every time I reread portions.  I also am benefitting so much from hearing about the personal challenges people are sharing with regards to identifying and reversing trends in the undesired direction as quickly as possible.

We all hit our strides at different times.  How fabulous is it that the strength and wisdom of the whole benefits us all !!!  So, yes.... go find your woohoo day !!

Good morning!  Sounds as if everyone is working it today.

Paula, I hope things work out for your son with the therapist.  It is so typical at that age to do the blame game.  I see my 17 year old doing it all the time!

Scale was the same this morning.  The rational side of me was totally ok with this.  The scale has dropped 3.5 lbs in the past week, so it makes sense that I wouldn't see another drop for awhile.  The irrational side of me had a very brief inner tantrum - "I've been eating cleanly and taking extra steps... why no drop, wa wa wa!"  Luckily, the rational side won out very quickly.  :)  As long as I keep doing what I'm doing, the weight will continue to go down.  This is a journey, not a race!

Happy Thursday all!

Hugs, Mary

157.6 today, so "down" 1.4.  I use that lightly because it's up down, up down.  But I felt thinner this morning, if that counts for anything!

Yesterday I did a fairly good job  not overeating, so I take that as a win.  However, my macros were really terrible because I ended up meeting my friends who just took the bar exam out and so my dinner consisted of a beer, a shot, and half an order of french fries.  Not great, but I also don't feel I went overboard.  Progress, people!  This is for life.  That's what I keep chanting to myself.

Today's eats

B-1 slice swirl bread, 1 t. butter, 1 scrambled egg, coffee with cream

L-brought leftover half of chicken fajita meat, with corn, but I may end up eating out with a friend leaving town.

S-Greek yogurt

D-leftover chili.  It's gonna be a netflix and chili kind of night ;)

Circle of Skinny - love that!  Scale remains at 113 but I'm feeling a little bit triggery since returning from my trip.  That means I've still got some 'tidying up' to do.

DD is going to join us for dinner this evening so looking forward to that.  Will spend the day running errands and preparing something delicious to eat this evening.

Mostly as a reinforcer to myself, I'm reposting my response to the Listening to My Sleeve thread:

I think there's a reason surgeons don't 'save' the rest of our stomachs to reattach after we reach our goal weight. By nature of our issues, we will never be normal around food, which means we will always need the physical restriction and the occasional 'hard stop' to keep us in check. I still get the occasional hard stop - sometimes from eating too quickly, sometimes from eating too much, and sometimes from doing both. Day to day, no, but occasionally yes. I try to see it not as failure but as a solid reminder that despite outward appearances, I am a bariatric patient. Always will be.

196.1 Down another pound. Not sure why I'm losing in "chunks", but I'll take it! I'm not sure this is a real loss, because it seems too quick. Yet, my eating has been very tight and on point for close to a week.

Had a great workout last night and I'm strangely not even a bit sore or tight. I am really pushing the post workout cardio lately, too. I've taken to the idea that I can maintain a burst of high energy for a minute. I can power through it. At the end of my last cardio burst yesterday my heart rate was 162 bpm. Maintaining movement with moderate exertion my heart rate went down to 120 bpm in only 4 minutes. Gotta love that.

So, I'm sort of hoping that I lose another .2 today and make it into the 195s tomorrow, but I believe that to be highly unlikely.

Instant Pot update: I have a sneaking suspicion there is something amiss with the computer chip and also the steam valve has some closure issues. I used it again last night and when the pressure valve closed the timer didn't kick over for a good 3-4 minutes after. As a result, I felt that the pork was somewhat over done. I also had to fiddle with the steam seal to get it to set. I may have to return and opt for purchasing a brand spanking new one rather than a re-box. Still love it, though. I took a pic of a hard boiled egg shell I peeled off a pressure cooked egg. It is amazing how easy it was to peel. I think the pic says it all!

I'm so happy for your awesome loss!  A tight program always pays off!

Was just about to pm you but will pose my question here because it's about your Instant Pot. Can't believe I'm thinking of ordering one but the yogurt function intrigues me. We eat a ton of yogurt so would like to reap some cost savings. Would you suggest adding any accessories for this function? Another benefit of this gadget is lessening other necessary gadgets as we prepare to downsize our kitchen. Thinking I'll go with new now instead of repackaged.
