Good Morning Friends!

132.8 today. Picking through a Chipotle chicken bowl was my best option traveling in a group  yesterday. Ate the chicken first, then did have some brown rice and black beans for the first time in a year. My carbs were over 100 for the first time. Back on track and heading out to swim soon. Lots of water today, and skipping Lasix today.

Working on gratitude and finding serenity today. Have a mindful day !

183.8 less than 2 lbs from my lowest. So excited to have found this group so I can protect my skinny and hopefully get to goal A and goal B.

I've been so overwhelmed that I didn't post about my annual (2 year) gyno checkup. The nurse thought the scale wasn't working properly, had me step off to check it, then looked at me and asked if I lost a lot of weight. Duh, it was really but she should've been able to SEE that I was not 290 lbs.

This doctor is the first one *****commended vsg and also recommended my surgeon. He talked to me for a long time about everything involved and was genuinely thrilled.

He said that I have the best skin of any of his extreme weight loss patients and thinks I can skip a lot of the plastic surgery on my list because my son may bounce back even more at 51 years old.  Moisturize, kids. He said my legs are not as bad as I see them, but I would get prefect results for plastic surgery. He suggested not having my arms done, continue exercising and add more arm exercises.

Awesome - so close to your lowest weight! You are rockin' this! Good news also on the lack of saggy skin!

124.6. I'm doing so much better pain-wise! Yay! Bad eating day yesterday. I was so "snacky" (don't think it was true hunger) and grazed most of the day which put me about 250 calories over my intended target and way over for carbs. I think part of the problem is exactly what Diane said to me the other day - that I have too much time on my hands! I'm off work for recovery but not really able to do my normal active things! I will do better today!

Hi guys.  156.8 on the scale today.  Unbelievable it's still dropping.  Trying not to celebrate too early.  This was exactly what I weighed a year ago.

Yesterday at lunch I ordered a taco salad minus the chips and guac.  I ate half of the chili/shredded lettuce/sour cream they brought me.  Dinner was steaks on the grill and roasted asparagus.  I also ate some carby snacks that I shouldn't have and two squares of dark chocolate.

This is not a very good week for my family.  My husband's company announced that today and tomorrow will be layoffs.  While my husband feels cautiously optimistic that it won't be him, you never know.  Furthermore, we have many many friends at the work "family" and it just kills me to know all those people having to go home with bad news and that we might not have reason to see them again.

Good morning!

127.4 this morning.  Up.  My right arm is packed with lymph from fingers on up, markedly worse than a day ago.   So glad that lymphedema therapy starts in 2 days.  Additionally, not feeling so great, perhaps due to lymphedema flare.  I don't understand the mechanism for this but during my last flare (5-6 years ago) the lymphedema expert had said that yes, it can cause flu like symptoms.  I'm watching for infection because I have a small cut on a finger and infection can swarm when lymph isn't being cleared adequately.

I'm actually going to skip yoga today except for soothing stretching at home if I feel like it. I am not sure I have ever skipped yoga purposely in the last 4 months.

I have a narrative in my head that starts with "I want to lose X amount of pounds by fill-in-the-event."  The thing is, I don't need to lose weight, just maintain.  Yet, the narrative pops into my head regularly.  Time to change the narrative but it burbles up from the unconscious.

Glad to see you all here today!

Shel

Hopefully a properly fitting compression sleeve will be part of your therapy. I needed a new size for my leg. Be gentle with yourself today. Yes... maintenance is "finding neutral" , isn't it? Not losing. Not gaining. Just being. Imagine focusing all of that determination and purpose on protecting our skinny and living a healthy life ! How blessed are we !?

A great change of narrative might be along this line: "I plan to still be in a size ____ (fill in the blank) 6 months from now." or "I plan to be able to wear the same clothes I am wearing this winter next winter."

Really, how many of us have been able to wear the same clothes year after year? Not I. I've always had a range of sizes from which to choose depending upon my weight. Sad, but true!
