I hesitated, too. There is an instant pot craze going on at work as well. All the cool kids have one! But, I already had the equipment to do everything the instant pot does, including a cooker that could make yogurt if I had been inspired to try. I also chafe at having another piece of equipment to store or (heaven forbid) take up counter space.
But, as I considered my other equipment, the slow cooker is, well, slow. My stove top pressure cooker needs constant monitoring. Regular stove top meals need time AND close monitoring.
Freezable meals were very important to me in WL in large part because just preparing food is a trigger for me. Having decent meals to grab and go out my freezer means little food prep on most days.
This week I made a pho in the instant pot that was decent. I froze portions with the broth, beef and 1.5 oz soba noodles in it. It defrosts beautifully. I also made a peanut chicken sweet potato stew and will be freezing portions of that. My next step will to make a pressure cooker version of braised red cabbage. I COULD make all of these things with equipment I already have. But, it is faster with the instant pot and faster means increase production of frozen meals.
The more frozen meals I have available, the less time is spent the food prep trigger zone. So, it is worth it to me. The tasty yogurt is just the cherry on top!

Thanks! We have a slow cooker, but I am not allowed to use it during the week. No set it and forget it at our house. (Someone has a real fear of appliance failure resulting in house fire...) Therefore, I NEVER use it. Don't have a stove top pressure cooker. It's the yogurt maker that is so terribly intriguing to me. I spend a lot of money on Fage every week, even though I buy in bulk at Costco. Maybe I should just break down and buy it for my b'day!
Hello All !
Down .4, to 139.4. The compression stocking made a difference in my edema yesterday. Spoke to my PCP and we are going to restart the Lasix, with a "potassium chaser".
Lots of awesome posts to think about and respond to. Much of the discussion affirms my decision to get a solid year of maintenance under my belt before I experiment any more with "mindful off plan eating". Simple sugar and carbs just have no place in my life until I'm ready... and I'm not. I'll have to pop back in later...crazy busy day. Paula... take those meds and feel better !
I liked the peace and patience thought !!!

Hi all
Loving the lively chat about dealing with a little regain. Seems like it happens to all of us. I am feeling fairly unmotivated these days. Not eating sugar or bad stuff. But its sunny and nice and I have lots to do so better get at it. Supposed to put up an art show today and I have to scavenge the house for old stuff to put up. Not exactly the best way to go about it.
Watched the 600 lb life last night. Always like seeing how people improve their lives through wls. never get tired of success stories. And even though we struggle with a little regain, we are all success stories here. yay for us. diane s
