Good Afternoon! I'm glad this week is over...I'm tired today but did get in some elliptical time and a strength training session with my trainer. My knee is still bothering me but it felt good to work out.
Hoping to hear Paula is on her way to a speedy recovery.
I'm down .4# from yesterday. I've noticed my body fat is down a percent as well. 16.5# until my happy weight. This is so doable. Before surgery, I would have gained it all back and then some. Re-gain is a ***** but this is so much more manageable then pre-surgery. I'm grateful.
Tonight, dinner with friends...sushi and one glass of wine. Tomr., we're taking my parents to a women's basketball game. And, then Sunday we're having friends over to watch the Super Bowl. My hubby is a HUGE Bronco fan. There will be some food challenges but hopefully I can keep things contained.
Enjoy your weekend.
Greetings Shrinking Earthlings;
Wow, so much going on in this group. I love it. Used to be just 2 or 3 of us checking in. Now we are a virtual tribe! Yay.
Linda so glad you are improving. Might have to adjust the med dosages. Been there done that. Glad the big personal issue got resolved. I have one of those too (cranky crazy family member). Seems like everyone has some such thing during their life - sometimes multiple. So none of us are alone in this stuff.
We are also not along in the maintenance trip. As Kairk says, its not easy. I truly felt my surgery and weight loss was EASY. I wasn't hungry and I just did what I was supposed to and it just came off. I told my doctor more that once how easy it was and how different from my pre surgery weight loss efforts. Fast forward six years and cookies and carbs are appealing again as are greater quantities. I keep thinking some day I will get like an old person who just doesn't want to eat that much any more. But not yet.
So yesterday was our anniversary and hubby brought me beautiful roses. He has finally learned to skip the chocolates. We went out to dinner at a new little place which features small plates and fancy wine. I had a cup of soup and brussle sprouts walnut slaw salad and a glass of pinot. It was very good but I was full with only half the slaw. Hubby had a cheese- charcuterie plate and I had some cheese. Was stuffed. But by the time I got home I was hungry again so I ate the rest of the slaw and a bite of cheese. Weird how tummy empties out fast.
Study and gallery today. still at 129.5 and not thrilled about it. but 6 years ago it was 237 so count my blessings and keep at it. Diane
Hello, noon here on the west coast!
126.2 today.
Carbon, I'm with you....time is running fast!
I am also sending best wishes out to Paula. Linda, glad that things seem to be improving and your weight is where you want. Kairk, I miss the beauty of the low-carb anti-hunger effect. It isn't like I am truly hungry now with higher carbs, but, it is different (worse) than when I was very low carb. Lorna, enjoy your final days in Cuba.
There was an article in the New York Times in the health section yesterday (I think, maybe the day before yesterday) about men/building muscle/macros. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/02/03/a-diet-and-exercise -plan-to-lose-weight-and-gain-muscle/?ref=health&_r=0
I see my dietician in a couple of weeks and I'm going to pose the macro question to her.
Enjoy the rest of the day. Apparently we have a storm rolling in so lots of rain on its way.

Nice article. I like to see studies such as that. Would have been interesting to have a control group for both groups that did not exercise and see what happened to the muscle mass of those two groups.
I am very interested in what your dietician will have to say about the macros. I'm always curious to see what dieticians recommend - especially with us WLS people.
As I've said, I like to keep my macros at 40% Protein, 30-35% fat and 25-30% carbs during maintenance. Right now, my carbs are between 10 & 15% of my daily macros. Works for me for now, so I'm sticking to it.
Home from GB surgery. They used one of the same incisions from my VSG, the biggest one and that one is pretty sore. Everything else feels pretty good. Had the rest of my veins done too.
Scale was at 123 even this morning. Had toast with butter and jelly post op and now eating some pizza. Will have a protein hot cocoa later and will still be way under for calories today. Will be anxious to see much I am up tomorrow from IV fluid overload.
Thanks for all the well wishes and positive thoughts. You are all the best!
