Wednesday, February 3rd
Good Morning...My month end review goes like this...On January 3rd I weighed a whopping 162.7# and today 156.9#. So, I have a loss of 5.8#. Not too shabby. I was actually shocked to see that number. I just need to keep it up. (My dysfunctional brain says "you've lost weight, eat more".) I'm hoping by Spring Break I can be in the 140's again and stay there. I was there in October and didn't stay.
Breakfast was apple slices with peanut butter and beef jerky. Lunch is...cottage cheese with a tablespoon of cheesecake dry mix pudding with blueberries; topped with pecans. I had it last night for dinner and it is decadent!!!! Yogurt for snack! I'm not sure about dinner....
It's Wednesday and feels like it should be Friday...really tired today. I have a session with my trainer. Knee is still bothering me so it will be a modified workout.
Hang in there everyone....
Fabulous job....not too shabby indeed!
Interesting about the cottage cheese lunch. I have sort of forgotten about cottage cheese...I'll give yours a try.

I used to love cottage cheese mixed with fruit or tomatoes...after surgery I had an aversion to it; could not eat it...until now:) I was lactose and whey intolerant for a few months after my surgery. One day, that just disappeared...weird, I know. I'm like that with red meat, too...I don't eat red meat much anymore...it has to be a really good cut of meat and cooked just right! Oh, the joys of VSG!
Your lactose intolerance disappeared as well?
I've had, of course, VSG, and then had my galbladder removed. And my stomach situation seems to be deteriorating. I get stomach cramps after something I eat almost daily. And unfortunately...it's crackers to the rescue. I have known I'm lactose intolerant for awhile. But this summer I decided to go back to whey protein shakes mixed with cottage cheese. That did not last long. I had horrible abdominal cramps and bloating. I usually can get away with cottage cheese so I think it's the whey. I had never heard of whey intolerance. Do you know any more about it? Did you react like lactose intolerance? I'm scared to even try it again. When you gave up whey, did you find a good protein substitute? I used to be able to eat ANYTHING (and I did--that was the problem!!) but now it seems like most things bother my stomach :(
I had my gallbladder removed; one year later almost to the date of my VSG surgery. I used a soy protein that Dr. Stewart approved. He really couldn't explain it. I even had another EDG to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my new tummy. He found nothing. As soon as I stopped dairy and whey I was fine. Soy was the only thing that didn't make me bloat, cramp and have explosive bathroom experiences. I would mix it with water and 1/4 to 1/2 banana. Now, I mostly have a sleeve of steel. What gives me issues now are beans and certain veggies...bloat, gas and cramping.
I'm sorry you're experiencing tummy trouble. Are you on a PPI?
Yes, I'm on prescription omeprazole but I'm thinking about inquiring about Nexium. Because if I'm even a couple hours late on my ppi, it's like a runaway train.
I know I drink a lot of coffee and that doesn't help.
Maybe TMI so be warned. So I had the sleeve 5 1/2 years ago, and then in October 2013 (so just over 2 years ago) I had my galbladder out. At first it seemed like that had fixed the issue but no. In fact this summer while studying for the bar I was having trouble eating most things. I would have abdominal cramps/pain and bloating similar to galbladder attack, but much milder and a little more general (not just under ribcage). It was terrible! I was even vomiting. When my GP found out I was studying for the bar, he attributed it to the stress in my life. It did seem to get a little better after that, but now I seem to be having those troubles again. Although never losing weight! In fact, gaining if anything. Unfortunately, it seems that crackers are the main thing to soothe my upset stomach. Some things I understand--like high fat, or lactose, or too high of sugar, or fried foods. But actually, recently, the foods giving me the most uncomfortable cramps have been vegetables and protein bars. Today I even experienced this after canned, cooked, green beans!! My next call will be to a gastrointerologist. It's very frustrating. Pretty much a daily thing now.
Hi all, so much 'food for thought" in today's posts. Joey so sorry about the leg cramps. Hubby used to get them bad and I sometimes did years ago. You used to be able to get over the counter quinine pills for leg cramps. They really worked. Yeah its gotta be a mineral thing but that doesn't help with the pain. I used to take advil and apply heat to avoid soreness the next day. Hope you get it worked out.
Well yesterday I did walk from my house to the car repair place (thanks to Kairk's much appreciated guilt trip) so that made for a nice brisk mile and a half gradually up hill. Of course no scale change - 129. Drank some extra wine as I had to spend hours at the computer doing gallery business and we have just had a bunch of changes to our systems.
Hubby mentioned that tomorrow is our wedding anniversary (i had forgotten but didn't admit it) so wanted to know if we should go out. Of course! There is a new little trendy restaurant that has small plates and eclectic stuff that I would like to try. Its called "Crush" so there will be a good wine list too.
Today is going to be crappy outside then a few days of sun. Looking forward to that. Ocean Diane, stay hydrated.
House keeper comes today so I gotta rush around and pick up all the junk thats in the way. diane s
