Good Morning Kindred Spirits-
My surgeon was emphatic that anti-inflammatories were OUT forever. He wanted me to try Tramadol for a few days, to keep the movement up enough to keep the shoulder from freezing. I'm alternating ice and heat and pulled out my Biofreeze spray. That is actually a product I got at the massage therapist after a particularly deep tissue massage. Hit the target !!! Feels better, and shoulder itself is still loose.
I could relate to Shel's comment that she absorbs and appreciates everyone's posts but sometimes feels she doesn't connect back personally with people who activated a meaningful train of thought. By the time I've read through a day's entries, I am so grateful for all of the thought, validation, and reassurance ... I too, want to express how much everyone's heartfelt and real insights and sharing mean to me !
Isn't it exciting to get to know our bodies again !!? We are bound to feel some aches and pains from our new "limitless" mindsets. Forward we go !!!
Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! (Six months and one week.) AT GOAL month 8. Maintaining at goal range (139- 144) ~ four (4) years !!
123.4 today, still going up but slowly. I was able to get a 45 minute walk in over lunch yesterday so that was good.
Have my pre-op for the gallbladder surgery today and may go showshoeing with a friend.
I remembered that I could access my labs via an on-line portal, so I don't have to wait another month (since I accidently forgot my doctor's appt. on Monday) to find out my cholesterol results. I am quite pleased with them! Total cholesterol is 170, LDL is 105, HDL is 58 and triglycerides are 35. I take 20 mg of Atorvastatin and imagine that will continue since my numbers were not nearly as good when I went off it after surgery per my surgeon's request.
Like Diane, I so appreciate all of you and thoughtful conversations that take place on this board! Thank you!

Good Thursday morning
good news indeed about your shoulder. Hope that everyone else is on the mend.
Calories 1001 and steps were 17,634.
'Feeling ' lighter but scale does not agree.
off for a walk and thankfully the rain is just coming down and not lashing sideways.
almost Friday.
Ahoy from the rainy Northwest!
Diane, glad that you are getting treatment for the shoulder, glad your shoulder feels loose. NSAID's are sometimes over-rated, especially when we are told we can't have them!
I am so impressed with everyone's activity engagement, in whatever form that takes. Getting to know our bodies again is exactly right: activity, clothing, eating. I don't mind this second year as another project year but am also looking to developing a foundation so that some of this is more automatic and doesn't require so much personal attention.
Proof that I take our fearless founder's words of wisdom seriously: I have Bright Sky Blend coffee on tap this morning. "Mild and Nutty" it is!
124.4 today. As I dip my toe into maintenance, I find that my brain likes looking at 122-124 better than anything above that. Not that my brain has ever been a trusted advisor when it comes to weight. Did a yoga 2-fer last night: hatha and yin. Tonight will be hatha.
We are planning a trip to Alaska this summer. I find myself craving that bazillion hours of light that we will experience.
Hope you are all warm and comfy,
Shel

Good morning! Diane and Shel, I can relate to absorbing and appreciating all of the posts but not personally connecting. My problem, due to my post-menopausal brain :), is that sometimes, by the time I have finished reading, I can't always remember who wrote what and I don't want to say something to the wrong person! Today, I took notes, hahaha! So here goes:
Diane, so glad your shouder is getting better. I've used Biofreeze before and it does work well. Also, thanks a million for posting the Food for Thought quote yesterday. I didn't read it until this morning, and it resonated loudly! Sometimes things happen just when you need it. I still haven't gotten the book out yet, but I need to.
Paula, your numbers look great! You must be so pleased. I remember the feeling when the numbers were in line and how grateful I was.
Shel, a trip to Alaska sounds wonderful!!! The extended sunshine will be great. If living in the Northwest is anything like in the Northeast, we tend to have Vitamin D deficiencies, so all of that sunshine should be a boon, on top of lots of fun!
Carbon, I too am impressed with all of the steps you do, even in nasty weather - what dedication! That light feeling is a sign of things to come!
I am feeling positive and happy today, My food, though still not exactly where I want it to be, is better. I wrote in my journal that mindful eating is up, mindless eating is down, and I'm making better choices - all trends in the right direction. I am also working on dealing with situations better, which impacts in a positive way on my emotions. An example is that my daughter and I had a discussion on the way home from dance the other night, and her facts weren't correct. Instead of continuing, I stopped myself and thought that she will insist she's right and we'd end up in an argument, so it was just better to keep my mouth shut, which I did, even though I really wanted to say "blah, blah, blah..." Today I can't even remember what it was about, but if I'd continued and ended up in an argument, I sure would remember! It is one day at a time, one moment at a time, but every victory like this one, leads to another if I let it.
Have a great day all! Hugs,
Mary
That's awesome because you listened ;-)
