123.2 today - going back up which is fine. I actually ate about 1,600 calories yesterday - good choices but more than usual. Also did boot camp for exercise.

Work today and then we host bible study tonight. Hopefully no work meeting at lunch so I can get on the treadmill.

Happy Hump Day!

Yes, happy "hump day" all !  My left shoulder began to bother me during the day yesterday.  There was no injury or abrupt movement at the onset, but I have had rotator cuff issues in the past. A fall at 300 pounds, combined with a history of repetitive movement (swimming free style & kayaking) resulted in a frozen shoulder at that time. I will do ANYTHING to avoid PT for frozen shoulder again, and my scapula remains loose, it is just painful to lift my left arm straight out to the side and up. I am taking Tylenol, giving the arm a rest from swimming today, and keeping the joint itself loose.

I would really like to take a few rounds of an anti-inflammatory... will check with my surgeon's office, as I was told that was a no-no, initially.  So, walking with Sadie today.

Up .8 to 139, with total on plan eating, so I have to believe it is due to repair going on.

Have a great day all !!

Diane

Hi Guys!   125.7 today.  This is up. Annoyingly up.  But, just part of the process, i think?  I called goal a month ago.  Jeans that I bought then are just a little looser which is a better measure than the scale.  This will be my mantra today.

I really upped my calories just over a week ago to close to 1200/day. (My NUT would be so proud!)  The week prior to that I was averaging about 850/day.  So I am eating 41% more than I used to!  My food content is ok, I think.  I am spending more time thinking about how my mini meals are put together which is a bit of a trigger in itself.

I want my diet (yes, diet) to be mindful and flexible to my needs.  I am not *****ly about the word diet just as I am not *****ly about the word obese.

My personal training is going well.  It turns out that I am a pretty good crawler! (This is a crawl in almost plank position backwards and forwards.) Or maybe the trainer was just trying to boost my ego. My back/shoulders are weak, my legs are strong.  I am not balanced, yet.  I can't wait to see what this process brings me!  I continue to do yoga, averaging a class a day.

This post was all about me today!  I am sorry that I haven't called out details of your posts but I did read everything and relish the victories (including dog victories) and empathize with the struggles.

Have a great day!  Shel

I really like your mindset and your focus on how the clothes fit.  All of this "body work" is going to result in some shifting and recomposition. Water retention is a wild card too. Keep measuring and logging mindfully, and stay attuned to how those jeans fit !  You're doing great !!

Thanks for the encouragement.  My trainer is pretty curious about my food but doesn't give any advice knowing that I have been medically managed.  (I like that he recognizes that I am different and doesn't presume to know what I "should" be doing.)

Anyway, he has said more than once that since bodyfat is already low, that my weight will need to go up to gain muscle.  I honestly have no idea how this all works.  Can I gain strength in my shoulders and back without gaining muscle? Do I have to eat more to gain muscle?  No idea!  I don't know how to assess the quality of information on the Internet and suspect there is a lot of misinformation out there.

This body work gives me something to focus on besides food.  That alone is worth the time and money spent on it. Plus, I love the feeling of moving with ease.

Do take it extra easy on your shoulder!  That should be your mantra :)

Morning everyone.

thanks so much for your kind words re: family and mental health issues.  I wish 'our ' beloved member realized the toll that their actions are taking on the rest of us.

And for the injured all I can say is OUCH!! And be gentle to yourselves.

Glad that all the adored pets are likely smiling (? Smirking?) in their sleep.

calories 745. Steps 10, 988.   I agree Kairk  , for me diet can be a four letter word that can send me into a tailspin.  Am learning to just face the plain truth that sugar and white flour anything make me feel  awful.

Mary your posts are so true.

congratulations to all of us!

enjoy your Wednesday!

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

Diane, do take care of that shoulder.  My husband has been having issues with his shoulder, as well.  I have an eesential oil called "Deep Blue" from Doterra (sp?) that I got from a friend.  I mix a couple of drops of that with about 2x as much coconut oil and rub it on his shoulder .  He is a neighsayer to anything outside of traditional medicine, and he can't believe how much better his shoulder is feeling.  He asks me to put the oil on now!

Shel, sounds like your training is going well!  Any weight you gain will be muscle, so you will stay very healthy!

I am feeling so much more hopeful today, and, so far, my food choices and calorie/carb numbers have been on track.  I realized that on the past two Wednesdays my mood has been lighter and my outlook more positive.  I am attributing this to dance class on Tuesday nights.  Last week's class was the first since 12/1.  I had such fun again last night!  The joy I experience from this activity reminds me why I so want to stay healthy!  Today, I want to eat cleanly, not just that I know that I need to, which is a shift in my thinking, going in the right direction.  I'm hoping to hold onto this feeling, a moment at a time.

I also want to find and dust off my "Food for Thought" book, a little book of daily inspirational quotes I got years ago in OA.  I always found reading the daily quotes made me think and lifted me up.  Does anyone else have that book?  If so, if it's handy, and if you're so inclined, :)  maybe you could post today's quote.  Thanks!

Have a great day!  Hugs,

Mary

My yoga people introduced me to essential oils and am now hooked!  I don't think I have the Doterra (however it is spelled) deep blue but I have lots of others!  So glad you have your dance, it sounds like you get more than just exercise out of it.

Nice to want to eat cleanly, so much more positive and less judgemental than knowing you need to.  Sometimes I tell myself to fake it til my mind shifts.  I don't know if that really helps LOL

We have other oils too.  One blend is for PMS, which I got for my teen and it has helped, though not totally.  She's now on the pill as well, which though I don't want her to be active, I'd rather her use protection if she's going to be.  I also agreed to it as it helps with severe PMS of PMDD, which she seems to have and it's much better.  We have an oil for breathing issues, as my husband and daughter have awful allergies and it seems to help too.  They're expensive but in the long run, it's worth it and may cost less if it avoids other more costly treatments.

Thanks about dance.  Yes, the exercise is great and I really worked up a sweat last night.  I think the comraderie with the others in the class and all that being able to participate represents, is far more rewarding for me.  I always regretted quitting dance as a teen and never imagined I'd be able to do that kind of dance and be in recitals again.  Being able to do it now means so much - kind of a symbol of the life I was given back after WLS.  I know that sounds sappy, but it is one of my chief motivators to keep on this journey.

I will try telling myself to fake it - or as they used to say in OA 'act as if'.

My 15 year old started BCP's over a year ago because she was terribly anemic because of heavy periods.  We both refused to call them birth control....we called them "the hormones" for the longest time.  Now she only has to have periods 4 times a year --- what a cool thing.

I don't think symbol of life stuff is sappy.  I am a buffalo because I am resilient and a survivor.  My first normal trip after cancer treatment was to Yellowstone and the buffalo resonated with me.  So, I keep them close.  Good grief. I AM a SAP!
